Anna and Elsa make Main Street debut
Fans of the Frozen sisters can now see the pair, plus snowy sidekick Olaf, without waiting in line for hours at their Fantasyland meet-and-greet location. A new Frozen pre-parade debuted last week before Mickey's Soundsational Parade, with the trio riding down Main Street, U.S.A. on a snowy float, accompanied by music from the film.

MousePlanet reader cstephens was at the first performance, and shared these photos with us. “I loved that while Elsa waved slowly like the other princesses, Anna was waving fast with her hand, all excited, just like you'd expect from Anna,” Cindy said.
The pre-parade takes place about 10 minutes before Mickey's Soundsational Parade.

Disneyland's Michelle Harker also shared a tip with us last week. With Halloween around the corner, Frozen costumes, and especially that of Queen Elsa, are growing in popularity. While the Disney Store is sold out of its version and the theme park stores don't have it on the shelves, you may have luck finding the frock in Fantasyland's Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. No appointment is necessary to purchase merchandise from the boutique, but you'll have to check in person to see if the dress is in stock—the Fairy Godmothers in Training don't accept phone inquiries.

Star Wars Half Marathon: A New Hope
If you missed out on registration last week for the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend events, there are still several official ways to secure entry into the races: Charity groups, travel providers, and Adventures by Disney all have options for runners willing to pay a little more for the events.
Approved charitable organizations, like Team Muscle Makers for Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy founded by MousePlanet reader Melissa Martin Mayorgas, raise money for their groups through participation in runDisney events. Runners commit to raising or donating a minimum contribution, which varies from group to group and in all cases is higher than the registration fee alone. Charity registrations often come with extra perks like theme park tickets, team shirts, or group training runs and activities. Visit the Charity Groups page for a list of teams offering entry to the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend.
Travel agencies participating in the runDisney Travel Provider program also have access to sold-out race registrations. These packages always include theme park tickets, and usually require participants to book a hotel stay. Travel insurance is often offered through these partners. Visit the Travel Providers page for a list of agencies offering Star Wars Half Marathon weekend packages.
Adventures by Disney Galactic Experience offers entry to the 5K, 10K and half-marathon races (including the 10K/half-marathon combo Rebel Challenge), plus the Wookie Welcome Party as part of a special seven-day version of the “Southern California: Disney Backstage” guided tour. The package is $3,670 per person, based on double occupancy. For more information about this special tour, contact your travel agent or call Adventures by Disney at (800) 543-0865.
Disneyland 5K and 10K medals revealed
runDisney's reveal last week of the medals for Disneyland's upcoming 5K and 10K races sent quite a few unregistered runners scrambling to find a spot in the races. runDisney did not indicate the 2014 event would have a Lilo and Stitch theme until several weeks after registration filled, and the photos of the new medals has only increased excitement for the races.

Very limited spots are still available for the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend events through charity groups and travel providers. Visit the runDisney website for a list.
Laughing Stock show ends July 8
David Koenig writes on his MousePlanet blog:
Six months after Billy Hill and the Hillbillies got the boot, the Laughing Stock Company is also about to be evicted from Disneyland’s Golden Horseshoe.
Although there’s been no official confirmation, a source in Entertainment reports July 8 will be mark the final performances of the longtime comedy troupe inside the ’Shoe. Starting July 9, a new “interactive” show will take their place.
Laughing Stock performers have found jobs at other shows throughout the resort, including in the new show. But if you want to catch the antics of the Mayor, the Sheriff, and other favorites one last time, head down to the Golden Horseshoe right quick.
David also noted that the replacement for the Laughing Stock show will be something like the Golden Horseshoe experience tested last summer at Disneyland.
In response to the David's report, Kirk Wall and the Hillbillies, (formerly Disneyland's Billy Hill and the Hillbillies), posted a message of support on their Facebook page, saying, “Welcome to the club, guys! We're sending good thoughts that you will all find other shows.”

Question of the Week
Reader Kimba is already making hotel reservations for the Star Wars Half Marathon weekend, and seeks your advice:
We're heading to D[isney]land in January for the Star Wars race. Feel very fortunate to have gotten our registration successfully. We've stayed at [the Best Western] many times and really like the short walk, but the rooms are not that exciting. Carousel looks nice from their web page, and is pretty close too, but is more pricey. Anybody stayed at both and have an opinion on which you like best and why? Thanks!
Have you recently stayed at one of these hotels? Come share your experience on our MousePad forum.
Do you have questions about an upcoming Disneyland visit, or need help choosing a hotel, restaurant or activity? Post your questions on our Disneyland Resort Trip Planning forum to get advice from our readers and Community Leaders. Your question may even be featured here in an upcoming Update.

Not all Utah schools or teachers close for or attend UEA, but the impact on the Resort is usually noticeable enough to mention.

2015

- Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend – May 7–10, 2015. (Mother's Day weekend). The weekend includes 5K, 10K and half-marathon, along with runDisney kids races, event expo and Pasta in the Park party. Annual Passholder early registration opens Wednesday, August 6. General registration opens Tuesday, August 12. More information at the runDisney website.
We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Current Discounts & Promotions
Disneyland prices as of May 2014.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency.

The 2013–2014 U.S. Armed Forces discount is valid through September 25, 2014. Under this program, active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional 3-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $129 each. For the purpose of this offer, Disney defines “Eligible Service Members” as active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Valid military identification will be required for purchase. This discount is available at MWR/ITT offices at your military base or other at participating U.S. military sales outlets. The tickets are not available for sale at the Disneyland Resort ticket booths. The price is the same for adults and children, and total of six tickets may be purchased per military member, regardless of who purchases the tickets (the member or their spouse). Disney has also clarified that the “Military member (or spouse) must accompany the persons using these tickets for Theme Park admission,” which means you can not purchase these tickets and give them to someone who will be visiting without you present. Tickets are blocked out April 13, 2014 through April 20, 2014; and July 4, 2014. As far as we can tell, there is no “fuse” on this ticket, so you may have more than the standard 13 days from first use to use the remaining two admissions, but we highly recommend you contact your base MWR/ITT office for more details before making travel plans. Please note that this ticket is not a “bonus” ticket, and so does not include an early admission day. Purchase with Purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced–price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase.
