Thanks to our sponsor, and a contest
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker, a new service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
This week, we contacted Sondra, who won our first locker contest. She was
thrilled to have her entry chosen. Sondra, please contact Owner’s Locker using
the information that we provided to you to claim your locker. We also read
Sondra’s second entry, for a camping locker for staying at Fort Wilderness.
But never fear! We were able to talk John into giving another locker away!
All entries already received (with the exception of Sondra’s other entry,
which we’ll read on a future show) will remain eligible, but everyone else
has until midnight on Halloween to send
in your ideas on what you would do with an Owner’s Locker. John will again
select his favorite, and he’ll join us on the November 5 show to announce
our next winner!
Tip of the Week
This week’s tip came in a voicemail from Dan the Light Man, from Boulder,
Colorado. (Send in your tip now!)
Dan noted that there were three different tours leaving from three different
places at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and they were sent to the wrong location
by a cast member. Dan recommends double-checking to make sure that you have
the correct location. Thankfully, it worked out well for Dan, who – along
with his wife – ended up getting a private tour that afternoon.
Mike remembered being confused about multiple tours that he was taking. He
reiterated that this is the reason why you need to try to get to your tour
a half-hour early, just in case something like this happens.
Mark noted that he needed to double-check the meeting location for his UnDISCOVERed
Future World tour, since it was early in the morning the day after he arrives
late at night. (NOTE: He did, in fact, make the tour.)
Mike had trouble checking in for his land/sea package last year.
Featured attraction
This week, we look at the Astro Orbitor in Tomorrowland at both Disneyland
Park and its original location at Magic
Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World.
Mark enjoys the attraction, but that could be because of the fun of riding
with his son. Mike offered up that he thinks that it’s a great date attraction.
Mike also noted that he felt that the elevator up to the raised platform
was the best feature of the attraction.
Review system spotlight
This week’s spotlight focuses on the Flying Fish Cafe in the Boardwalk Resort.
The week’s featured review was a 5-planet review by marryy of Pennsylvania.
MousePlanet readers really love the Flying Fish, rating
it 4.8 out of five planets on the strength of 6 reviews.
marryy feels that the Flying Fish is one of the best restaurants at Walt
Disney World, and that everyone in their group of nine people had delicious,
well-prepared food.
Mark agrees with marryy, as the Flying Fish may be his favorite restaurant
at Walt Disney World. In fact, Mark was there just days after marryy for his
40th birthday trip and had a great time.
Mike really doesn’t consider Flying Fish an option because he’s allergic
to just about every dish that they serve there.
You can also find the Flying Fish Cafe in our Park
Guide.
Ask the Kid
In this week’s segment, this week, Mark asked his 8-year-old son a question
from Mike: “If you could build a Disney park anywhere in the world, where
would you build it? “
Mark’s son answered that “Of course I’m going to build it in my home
state of New York.” Mark’s son then complained about the local amusement parks.
Then he had some interesting ideas about a water park in Antarctica and a
wild mouse coaster built on a yacht in the middle of the ocean.
To submit your own questions for “Ask the Kid,” send
us your question to ask Mark’s son.
Magical Moment
This week’s moment came from listener Patrick Toohill.
Patrick was in his own little Magical Moment at a family gathering, where
everybody was asking him for advice about their upcoming trips because he
was the expert.
Feedback and MouseFest
Please weigh in on the idea of returning to a single feed via email
or by calling our toll-free feedback line at 1-866-939-2278. Don’t forget
that we love voicemails because then we can put your voice on the show!
Don’t forget that you’ve now got until Halloween to get your entry in for
our second Owner’s Locker contest!
We also wanted to remind you that we have now scheduled our MouseFest meet
for the podcasts. The MouseStation Hustle-tini Meet will begin at 5:30 p.m.
at Classic Concoctions in the Everything Pop food court at Disney’s Pop Century
Resort for Bluetinis to get our nerve up to get up and boogie. We’ll make
sure that we’re in the lobby before 6 p.m. so that we can do The Hustle, then
return to Classic Concoctions or elsewhere to record some more for the podcast.
For more information on the Hustle-tini or any other MousePlanet-sponsored
meet at MouseFest, check out our MouseFest
information page. If you’ve got any ideas on what might make a cool MouseStation
T-shirt for MouseFest, let Mark know!
