We’re trying to decide what to do on holidays when the main MousePlanet site
is not publishing new content for the day. The next instance will be Thanksgiving,
when MousePlanet will not publish on Thursday or Friday that week to allow
staff to enjoy the holidays. Should we publish the show on those days anyway,
or should we take the days off with the rest of the site? In that particular
instance, it will be a MousePlanetWatch show and a Listener Feedback show
that will be skipped, though we would miss Short Subjects on Christmas Eve
and New Year’s Eve in December. Obviously, it’s not a common thing. There
are a very limited number of days that MousePlanet does not publish. It’s
pretty much just Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Memorial Day and Labor
Day. We did do a show on Labor Day this year, but we don’t know whether that
mattered to anybody. What do you think? The show is for you, so we’ll follow
your lead. Do you want us to publish shows during the holidays, or is it OK
to miss shows? We’re going to decide today, so to have your vote considered,
let us know via email or by calling
1-866-939-2278 by 10 p.m. EST tonight.

If you want to contribute a story for our Monday Magical Moment segment (and
possible inclusion in the Cast Place column here on MousePlanet), you can
either use our email Magical Moment story
form
or the toll-free feedback line. (We love it when you use the voice
mail system, because then we can play your call on the show!)

Thanks to our sponsor

Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker
, a new service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.

This week, we read another one of the great contest entries that we got.
This time Sharon Troxell talked about all of the things that would be great
to be able to leave in Florida for her next trip.

Thanks to everyone that entered for submitting your great ideas! If you have
any other great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve signed up
and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used your locker,
send us an email or
call our voicemail and let us know what you think!

Ssssssshhhh!!!

Mike doesn’t listen to the show after we record it, and he doesn’t read the
show notes. Mark and the Kid recorded a tag at the end of the show to let
everyone know that yesterday was Mike’s birthday. Everybody send in your Happy
Birthday wishes, and we’ll read them on the Listener Feedback show on Friday.
(Send in your birthday greeting now!)

Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes from listener Dave Welty. (Send
in your tip now
!)

Dave recommends bringing extra shorts, shirts and sandals for any small children
that you have with you if you’re visiting a park with water play areas such
as Disney’s California Adventure, Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Epcot. While
they play in the water, you can take a nice rest on a nearby bench without
worrying about them getting wet. When it’s time to go, just take them to the
nearest restroom and get them into their dry clothes. (Don’t forget the plastic
bag for the wet stuff!) Make sure to bring sandals since bare feet are prohibited.

Mark remembered a time when his son got soaked while playing in the stream
at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at DCA, and he and his wife had to go
hunting to find sneakers that fit him at World of Disney to get him through
dinner while his regular sneakers dried.

Featured attraction

This week, we look at the Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland at both Disneyland
and Walt Disney World.

Mark talked about his son finally agreeing to let the teacup spin after dozens
of trips without spinning. Mark also gave a tip about “unspinning”
yourself so that you don’t get too dizzy.

Mike and Mark both noted that they prefer the Disneyland version of the ride.

Review system spotlight

This week’s spotlight focuses on the Biergarten at Epcot’s Germany pavilion.
MousePlanet readers enjoy the Biergarten, rating
it 3.7 out of five planets
on the strength of 13 reviews. Our featured
review this week is a 5-planet review by BigStan727 of Burbank, IL.

Stan and his wife met some nice people at the table for eight that they shared.
They enjoyed the band, and Stan was impressed with how reasonable the price
of the beer was. He was even more impressed with the bratwurst, the red cabbage,
and the apple strudel. The sauerbraten was good, but not worth paying dinner
prices to try.

Mark remembered once being sat by sheer chance at the same table as a family
that lived 20 minutes away from him. He also told a story (with Mike’s help)
about being there during MouseFest 2006 for a very memorable meal. Mark also
talked about eating lunch there during his 40th birthday trip.

You can also find the Biergarten in our Park
Guide
.

Ask the Kid

This week’s question comes from listener Scott Ferraioli, who asked: “I
haven?t eaten in a lot of the parks until recently, what?s your favorite thing
to eat at each park and why?”

Unfortunately, Mark’s son wasn’t much help on this one. He had trouble coming
up with things that he likes to eat at the parks aside from Itzakadoozie ice
pops, chocolate mousse and Fetuccini Alfredo (which went away with Alfredo’s).
Maybe we need to put a moratorium on food questions for a while.

To submit your own questions for “Ask the Kid,” send
us your question
to ask Mark’s son.

Magical Moment

This week’s moment came from listener Dave in San Francisco.

Dave won some dream ears from the Dream Squad early in the day at DCA. A
few hours later, he was in the queue for Tower of Terror, chatting with the
family in front of him. The family had just missed getting dream ears earlier
in the day, and the family’s 5- or 6-year-old son was staring at his ears.
He crouched down and gave the boy his ears, which made the boy incredibly
happy.

When Dave got off the attraction, Christopher (the cast member at unload)
took him down the hall and around the corner, broke character and commended
him for acting in “the true Disney spirit.” He shook Dave’s hand
and gave him a set of Dream Fastpasses, which made Dave’s day.

Mike and Mark agreed that the most magical moment was when Dave gave his
ears to the boy.

Even now that he’s no longer a cast member, Mike still tries to go out of
his way to make somebody’s day.

sure that we’re in the lobby before 6 p.m. so that we can do The Hustle, then
return to Classic Concoctions or elsewhere to record some more for the podcast.
For more information on the Hustle-tini or any other MousePlanet-sponsored
meet at MouseFest, check out our MouseFest
