Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker, a new service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
This week, we had a voicemail from Marilyn Garfinkel of Valley Stream, NY,
who called in to tell us that she uses her Owner’s Locker. She keeps an extra
ergonomic keyboard in the locker so that she can plug it into her laptop when
she’s at Walt Disney World.
If you have any other great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve
signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used
your locker, send us an
email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Mike and Mark talked a bit about their MouseFest experiences to date before
getting to the rest of the show.
Tip of the Week
This week’s tip comes in a voicemail from listener Dave Welty. (Send
in your tip now!)
Dave recommended taking photos of children in the same place on every trip
so that you can see how they grow from trip to trip.
Mark said that they tried to do that with The Kid, but then ended up continuing
to forget to take the photo. Mike mentioned that many families have a spot,
and they always take photos in “the spot”. Mark noted that many
families used to use the wooden Indian in front of the tobacco shop on Main
Street, but the wooden Indian has since been relocated to Frontierland.
Featured attraction
This week, we look at Lights, Motors, Action
Extreme Stunt Show in the Streets of America Backlot at the Disney-MGM
Studios (soon to become Disney’s Hollywod Studios).
Mark and Mike agreed that this isn’t one of their favorite attractions, but
that it’s still extremely popular. Of course, they’re not really car guys.
Little kids often like to pick up small pieces of rubber shredded from the
tires when they peel out across the front of the stadium.
Review system spotlight
This week’s spotlight focuses on at the Tony’s Town Square at Walt Disney
World’s Magic Kingdom. MousePlanet readers like Tony’s, rating
it 3.5 out of five planets on the strength of 18 reviews. Our featured
review this week is a 3-planet review by rbaadmin of Elwood, IL.
rbadmin and his party visited for dinner, and there were mixed revews. It
seems that, despite a number of setbacks unrelated to dinner itself, they
were very frustrated. During dinner, though, service and food were both excellent.
Mark has eaten at the restaurant on many different occasions, and has had
a widely varying experience each time. If you try to get a table on the patio
for dinner during SpectroMagic, Mark recommends that you arrive early and
be prepared to wait a good, long while.
You can also find Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in our Park
Guide.
Out of the Park
This week, we tried out another new segment, this one called “Out of
the Park.” In it, we discussed something cool to do outside the
park.
This week, we talked about DisneyQuest.
It’s a really cool place to to and play, though the prices are a bit high
for the entertainment value. It doesn’t seem like something that you’d want
to go to every trip, though if you have water park fun and more options, you
might want to try a visit.
To submit your opinion on whether or not we should try “Out of the Park”
again or to submit your own ideas, send
us an email or call our toll-free voicemail.
Magical Moment
This week’s moment came from listener Dan the Light Man.
Dan and Nancy had some really special treatment during the Night of Joy on
their trip for their 24th wedding anniversary.
Mark was impressed that she was able to figure out that they were giving
out Dream Fastpasses from someone rcing past her muttering “Fastpasses!”
Feedback and Other Stuff
We want to remind you about our contest to encourage you to donate to Broadway
Care/Equity Fights AIDS. Everyone that donates to the cause through Mike’s
donor page will receive an entry into the random drawing for an “Anything
Can Happen” bookmark signed by Nicole Bocchi and Henry Hodges, who played
Jane and Michael Banks the night that Mike saw the show. The bookmark includes
a nickel-sized star that was part of a costume worn in the show during the
grand finale. The bookmark says “Mary Poppins, Broadway 2007.” You
can also see a picture of it in our show notes from November
21. This phase of the fundraising campaign runs through December 4, so
you’ve got until then to donate. It doesn’t matter how much you give. Any
donation
will get you entered into the contest.
Send us feedback via email or by
calling our toll-free feedback line at 1-866-939-2278. Don’t forget that we
love voicemails because then we can put your voice on the show!
We’re coming up on our one-year anniversary, so we’d love to hear what changes
you’d like to hear us make in the show for our second year. It doesn’t matter
how radical the changes are, or how brutal the comments, let us hear what
you think!
