Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker, a new service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
This week, we reminded you of our next Owner’s Locker promotion, where you
can help to determine what the next promotion will be. From now through January
30, send your thoughts on what would make a good promotion to get you off
the fence. A free Brita water pitcher? Ten dollars off? A MousePlanet
T-shirt? Whatever it is, email it
to us or call the toll-free feedback line. We’ll share all ideas with
John Van Meter of Owner’s Locker, who will announce the actual offered promotion
on our February 4 show. The promotion will then be valid through February
29.
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve
signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used
your locker, send us an
email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip comes from listener Deb from Michigan. (Send
in your tip now!)
Deb recommends using an autograph book as a trip journal, where she will
use one page for notes and leave the opposite page for character or cast member
autographs.
Deb’s idea reminded Mike of when he would have all guests that he checked
in at Pop Century sign his autograph book. (Mark can’t remember when Mike
told that story on the Magical Moment Podcast, because it was too long ago.)
Mike mentioned that his manager thought that it was such a cool idea that
she kept buying him autograph books.
Featured attraction
This week we look at the Indiana Jones Epic
Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Mark gave a bit of a rundown of scenes in the show, and also talked about
the guest participation as well as the plants in the audience. Mike and Mark
talked about the show and whether or not anybody remembers the movies that
the attraction is based on, and ended up drifting over to Splash Mountain
and whether anybody has heard that it was even based on a movie. They continued
on to discussion of Mark’s legal copy of Song of the South. (He got a PAL
copy froma friend who bought it in Ireland, then had his archival copy made
in NTSC format.)
They got back on track and discussed how guests can participate in the show,
and also the fun that you can have when you pull the rope going down into
the well near the attraction’s entrance.

Review System Spotlight
This week we look at the California Grill atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort
at Walt Disney World. Our MousePlanet readers really like the California Grill,
rating
it 4.0 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by cactusgirl
of Texas.
cactusgirl and her husband were celebrating their tenth anniversary, and
got a table in the Wine Room, which was very quiet. She and her husband preferred
that to the more public room with a view because there was too much noise
for their liking, and they had a fabulous meal.
Mark is looking forward to going back to the Grill and trying it now that
Jens Dahlmann has moved over there from the Flying Fish Cafe. He and his wife
have always enjoyed the meals that they ate there, even dating back to the
old Broadway at the Top meal when it was called Dinner at the Top.
Mike has always intended to eat at the Grill. He had reservations for Valentine’s
Day one year, but couldn’t get a date, so he cancelled.
You can also find the California Grill in our Park
Guide.
Ask the Kid
Vance Cope asked Mark’s son: What is your favorite part of the Carousel of
Progress?
Mark’s son responded that he liked “the future” scene. He had no
idea why he liked it, just that he liked it. He also mis-remembered the technology
used in the video game. Looks like it’s time to get him back into the attraction.
Mark talked about the “friendly GE nuclear power plant down the street”
that was in the original script almost 45 years ago, and how much the attraction
changed.
Somehow Mike and Mark got to discussing A Christmas Story’s final scene in
the Chinese restaurant and Mark was talking about the Jewish tradition at
Christmas of going out for Chinese food and a movie because there’s nobody
else there. How do we get into these conversations?
Magical Moment
This week’s moment came from Jennifer Keyser of Columbus, OH. (Send
in your moment now!)
After Jennifer’s family had ridden the teacups several times,.they had enough
time for just one more ride before the park closed, so they decided to ride
the carousel. As they were waiting to get on, a whole load of characters appeared
and joined them in line. They all got to ride with the characters and they
had a wonderful time.
