Tip of the Week
This week’s tip comes from listener Lillian Contreras, who let us know about
alternate locations to procure a mint julep at Disneyland. Mike had used the
Mint Julep Bar in his off-and-on-the-train julep sprint.
Featured attraction
This week, we look at Beauty and the Beast
Live On Stage at the Disney-MGM Studios.
The Broadway
version that eventually resulted from this show closes this coming Sunday.
Mark saw the attraction at its former location and current location a few
times, but hasn’t seen it in many years. It’s not an attraction that he goes
out of his way to see. Mike feels the same way. (We’re sure that Mike Scopa
feels differently.)
However, both feel that Four for a Dollar, the opening act for the show,
may be the best part of the show. Four for a Dollar performs outside Disney
as Return
to Zero.
Review system spotlight
This week’s spotlight focuses on the Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria in Downtown
Disney at the Disneyland Resort. The week’s featured review was a 5-planet
review by by sleepyjeff of Portland, OR. MousePlanet readers are divided on
Naples, rating
it 2.8 out of five planets on the strength of 13 reviews.
Jeff experienced some strange things there, including something downright
weird involving a group of waiters and a bathroom stall. Mike has eaten at
Naples (including his first meal ever in Anaheim). Mark has eaten at Naples
twice and gotten take-out from there once. Aside from poor service the first
time there, Mark hasn’t had real problems there. However, due to the 2.8-planet
rating, Mark is worried about what that means for the Patina Group’s new Italian
restaurant that they will be opening in the soon-to-be-former Alfredo’s location
at Epcot. Mike is looking forward to getting a new version of Naples in Florida.
You can also find Naples in our Park Guide.
Ask the Kid
In this week’s segment, listener Nicole Gonzales asked Mark’s 8-year-old
son: “What is your favorite place to get something yummy to eat?”
Mark’s son doesn’t really care about meals, selecting churro and ice cream
stands (for churros and Itzakadoozie pops). When pressed, he went for the
place that he first discovered Uncrustables PB&J sandwiches (at Blizzard
Beach). He’s a cheap date.
Mike and Mark then digressed into discussing food options at the water parks.
Magical Moment
This week’s moment came in a voicemail from listener John in Mesa, Arizona.
John had a wonderful time making magic for his parents at Disneyland last
year for Christmas, and received some magical feedback from them in return.
