Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
This week, we reminded you of our next Owner’s Locker promotion, where you
can help to determine what the next promotion will be. Send your thoughts
on what would make a good promotion to get you off the fence. A free Brita
water pitcher? Ten dollars off? A MousePlanet
T-shirt? Whatever it is, email it
to us or call the toll-free feedback line. Since we’ve only gotten a couple
of seious responses so far, we’re going to extend it a little bit longer,
and we’ll run the promotion after that. We’ll share all ideas with John Van
Meter of Owner’s Locker, who will announce the actual offered promotion on
an upcoming show and the promotion will then be valid for a month after that.
Today we read two sets of suggestions. The first came from Kate Tillan, who
suggested waiving the one-time membership fee. We don’t know if John will
go for that, but we’ll pass it along.
Matt from Massachusetts followed up on his suggestion of either Disney books
or a Pal Mickey from last week and refillable resort mugs from the week before.
This time, he recommended a choice of one of two packages, the Goldhaber bundle
and the Demopoulos bundle. Each bundle would include an item that one of us
deemed imperative for storage in a locker, plus a MousePlanet or MouseStation
T-shirt. That’s an interesting idea. We’ll pass that along to John, as well!
Let us know what you think of these
ideas, or send in your own!
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve
signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used
your locker, send us an
email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip comes from Mike, because the Tip Jar is empty. (Send
in your tip now!)
Mike recommends bringing a Tide-To-Go pen with you wherever you go in the
parks. They’re great for cleaning up kids’ spills or other messes. He recommends
them over Shout wipes because they work better. Mark carries one around with
him everywhere, too.
Featured attraction
This week we look at the Hall of Presidents
at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Mark noted that there’s less than one year before a new president is added
and becomes the other speaker with Abraham Lincoln. (But they won’t get into
a political discussion of who it might be, as this isn’t that type of podcast.)
Mark misses the Maya Angelou narration of the movie. The previous versoin
was good, as well.
Mark is pretty sure that someone at Imagineering is already looking for possible
speech segments to be used in the Hall for the three front-runners in the
current campaign. He also noted that all presidents to date have been sculpted
by Blaine Gibson, but thought that he remembered that Blaine Gibson had passed
away recently. (He was wrong, and will probably get a lot of email on that
count.) So Blaine will likely sculpt the new president, despite what Mark
said on the show.
Review System Spotlight
This week we look at the Crystal Palace at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Our MousePlanet readers really like the Crystal Palace, rating
it 4.1 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by bartsfam
of Rutland, Massachusetts.
bartsfam had lunch reservations on a busy Sunday afternoon, but was seated
within 30 minutes. They rated the buffet very highly. The food was good, and
the enjoyed a variety of dishes, as well as the desserts. The characters all
stopped by twice in one hour. They highly recommend the location.
Mark really likes the Crystal Palace, though it leaves Mike cold.
You can also find the Crystal Palace in our Park
Guide.
Ask the Kid
Vance Cope asked “Since you talk about time travel alot, if you could
go back in time an ride an old ride or attraction, what would it be? (I wish
I could have rode Horizons or the Sky Ride)” (Send
in your question now!)
Mark’s son simmediately responded that he wanted to ride Horizons. Mark would
have to agree.
