Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s
Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only
stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
This week, we reminded you of our next Owner’s Locker promotion, where you
can help to determine what the next promotion will be. Send your thoughts
on what would make a good promotion to get you off the fence. A free Brita
water pitcher? Ten dollars off? A MousePlanet
T-shirt? Whatever it is, email it
to us or call the toll-free feedback line. Since we’ve only gotten a couple
of seious responses so far, we’re going to extend it a little bit longer,
and we’ll run the promotion after that. We’ll share all ideas with John Van
Meter of Owner’s Locker, who will announce the actual offered promotion on
an upcoming show and the promotion will then be valid for a month after that.
Marian Sargent agrees that the gift certicates idea would definitely be a
good idea for an incentive.
Let us know what you think of these
ideas, or send in your own!
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve
signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used
your locker, send us an
email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Around the Station
Inspired by Sean Jones’ comic strip, Mark and Mike decided to start showing
off the various features of the MouseStation, starting with the spy satellite
focused on Disney headquarters in Burbank. (Note: For those that are wondering,
the actual source of that audio was from an earnings call from last year.)
The comic strip was actually first published in the show notes for episode
141, not 140.
Sean Jones sent in the fabulous comic strip of Mark and Mike (though he drew
Mike a little too good-looking). Click on the strip for a larger image.
Featured attraction
This week we look at the Barnstormer at Goofy’s
Wise Acre Farm at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Mark had to hold onto his son while riding because the combination of his
Pooh-sizedness and his son’s small size left a gap between his son and the
lap bar.
It’s a short coaster, running less than a minute from station to station
with perhaps most of it being spent on the lift.
Review System Spotlight
This week we look at the Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian
Hotel. Our MousePlanet readers like Storytellers, rating
it 3.8 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by WhichIsStitch
of Flagstaff, AZ.
WhichIsStitch and her husband had a great dinner buffet meal at the restaurant,
and would go back there again.
Mike had a great character breakfast there, while Mark has eaten at least
one character breakfast, at least a couple of lunches, and at least one dinner
buffet and one dinner off the menu over a few trips.
You can also find Storytellers Cafe in our Park
Guide.
Six Degrees of Disney responses
We had one Six Degrees response from the last go-round, linking Gary Trousdale
to Ashley Tisdale (with a bonus link through Allan-A-Dale), in a voicemail
from Dean from New York City. Somehow we forgot to run it last time, so we
ran it today.
We only had a few responses to trying to line Andreas Deja to Ronald Reagan.
(We ended up recording the show earlier than expected, so some responses that
came in by Saturday, February 16, got left off until our next time.)
Dan Weckerly from Limerick, PA called in a three-degree link, but more importantly
he noted that he prefers Finding Nemo – The Musical over Festival of the Lion
King because Dory rules!
Robb Rockwell wrote in with a good five-step linkage.
Sharla from Athens, GA called in a four-degree link, with an added bonus
of linking to Allan-A-Dale.
Mike Shearin (Mr. Abominable) from Las Vegas called in another three-degree
link, this time going through a Marie Osmond doll. Mike mentioned the Disneyland
TV series, which got Mark started on talking about Dateline: Disneyland,
the broadcast of the grand opening of the park. Mark couldn’t remember the
name of the third host (Bob Cummings), though he remembered a number of the
stories about him.
