Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
The Owner’s Locker Free Starter Kit promotion, exclusively for MousePlanet readers and MouseStation listeners has now ended. However, you can still get a risk-free membership with Owner’s Locker. Sign up for membership, and if you decide that you don’t want your locker before the end of your first trip, you can get your money back! And don’t forget to say that you heard about them from MousePlanet in the drop-down box on the first sign-up page.
Mark has actually just returned from Florida, after getting another great use from his locker. He’ll have more about his visit next week.
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used your locker, send us an email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week comes from listener Keith Schrod, who came up with a great way to manage Disney Dining Plan credits to maximize value while not feeling like they were gorging themselves (though they likely did have some extra meal expenses). Keith’s family had the free dining plan last summer and made a lot of signature dining reservations, which allowed them to eat at places that they would not ordinarily visit while at the same time didn’t have them eating huge meals every day. He also wishes that he could substitute an appetizer for the dessert in the new version of the dining plan. (Send in your own tip now! The tip jar is empty, so we need your tips now!)
Keith has a photo of him and his daughter at the Rose & Crown posted on the Frappr map.
Mark was going to try to find out whether the substitution was possible during his trip to WDW, but was unable to get the question asked, let alone answered.
Mark also remembered using the equivalent of the current Platinum Plan when he was on his honeymoon over 20 years ago, and he and his wife were eating lots of sit-down meals and they were sick by the time that they were done.
Mike thought it was a very good tip, as well.
Our Disney
This week, Alex from Houston said that he’d like to see Mr. Lincoln returned to the parks, both at Disneyland and somewhere at Walt Disney World. As we continue to repeat history, he would be a great role model for today’s society.
Mark doesn’t think that it’s a bad suggestion, but noted that Mr. Lincoln wasn’t drawing huge crowds before he was replaced at Disneyland. Mike didn’t have a strong opinion either way.
At the Station
This week, we had hoped to bring you Nora’s acceptance of Mike’s proposal. Due to recording issues after we had recorded the rest of the show, we’ll have to hold this for a future show.
Don’t forget that we’ve set up a page dedicated to archiving all of the “@ The Station” strips to make it easy for you to find them.
Ask the Kid
This week, Mary Tesch from Seymour, WI asked Mark’s son: What would you do if you could spend an entire hour in any Walt Disney World park with just you and your family, nobody else? Which park would you choose and what would you do?
Mark’s son would definitely want to go on Dumbo, Astro Orbiter, Peter Pan and “it’s a small world” because they always have really long lines. Mark noted that they could probably do all of them in 15-20 minutes including walk time if there was nobody else in the parks. His son really didn’t know what he would do with the rest of the time.
Magical Moment
This week’s Magical Moment also comes from listener Keith Schrod. (Send in your moment now!)
Keith’s daughter got a little shaken up during interaction with a cast member at Disneyland Paris, and they received special treatment from the cast member, riding Peter Pan five times without getting out of their ride vehicle. He was impressed by the improvement in cast member interaction from his first time to Disneyland Paris.
Keith also had two questions: How can he get a hold of park attraction music, especially Soarin’ (and could we do a “favorite attraction music” show); and how can international listeners call in to the feedback line.
Mark noted that the Soarin’ music is on the official album of the parks, and can be had by contacting Walt Disney World Mail Order via email or by calling 407-363-6200. And we can certainly do a favorite attraction music segment in the future.
To send us audio from overseas (or to send us a really long voicemail from the U.S.), you can record the audio locally and then send us a .WAV, .MP3 or .MP2 file (or some other formats) via email or by posting it on web space somewhere and sending us a link.
Mike asked whether overseas callers would be willing to pay the international calling fee to call a local number in the 407 area code or elsewhere.
Last Week on MousePlanet
For those who only get the podcast through the RSS feed, we tried something new by recapping all of last week’s content on MousePlanet so that they know what’s there and they can hit the site and check the stories out.

Wrapping up
On Sunday, Mark walked to raise money for the March of Dimes for the third time. While the walk is over, you can still support him. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
