Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
The cost of an Owner’s Locker isn’t quite as high when you think about the per-bag fees that many airlines are now charging. It’s a risk-free trial, so why not give it a try?
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used your locker, send us an email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week comes in a voicemail from listener Liana from Simi Valley, who said that she keeps anti-bacterial wipes with her at all times in the parks. She wipes the lap bar on attractions because they are exactly the right height for her daughter to put her mouth on when she’s sitting on the ride. She’s been doing it ever since her daughter came down with a stomach bug after visiting the park.
Mark notes that hand sanitizer is also a good thing to carry around. Mike agrees that the wipes and Purell are good things to have in the parks.
Stump the Hosts
George from Phoenix wrote in with a multi-part Stump the Hosts question.
A little known fact is that some Walt Disney World Resort Hotels actually have tag lines. The tag line for one of them happens to be the same phrase used as a title for a song written to commemorate a very special event that occurred at a different Disney Destination. The multi-part stump the host question is this:
- a. Name the tag line which is also the song title.
- b. Name the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel that uses it.
- c. Name the event for which the song was written.
For extra credit:
- d. Name the singer of the song.
- e. Name the time and place whenyou can currently hear the song.
Mark and Mike thought about it a little, but couldn’t come up with it. Some thoughts that they had included something using a theme from Disneyland’s 50th anniversary and Port Orleans French Quarter with something to do with Disneyland Paris’ 15th anniversary.
So George stumped us. While we wait for him to email us with the correct answers, send in your possible answers.
Review System Spotlight
This week we look at the Polynesian Resort. Our MousePlanet readers really like the Polynesian, rating it 4.0 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by Tikiman from California. And yes, it’s that Tikiman, Steve Seifert, the online authority on the resort, who has a very complete web site on the resort.
Steve stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as the Polynesian on his trip, staying in two different sets of accommodations at the Polynesian (standard garden view and concierge lagoon view). He took advantage of the resort’s location on the monorail line, and he gave a rundown of room sizes in the review as well.
Mark and his wife stayed at the Polynesian in October, 1987 on their honeymoon. Mark also stayed there during the 2007 International Press Event, and he loves the resort.
You can also find the Polynesian in our Park Guide.
At the Station
Next week, we’ll have Part 3 of the ongoing series featuring the invasion of the MouseStation by Emperor Zurg. In the meantime, don’t forget that we’ve set up a page dedicated to archiving all of the “@ The Station” strips to make it easy for you to find them.
Ask the Kid
This week’s question came from Mary Tesch from Seymour, WI, asked Mark’s son: What is the first attraction you head to in each of the Walt Disney World Parks?
Mark’s son came up with the following list:
- Magic Kingdom – Goofy’s Barnstormer or “it’s a small world”
- Epcot – Soarin’ or Mission: Space
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Lighs Motors Action
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom – The Boneyard
Magical Moment
Pat Toohill wrote in to tell us about a funny moment that helped to end a less-than-stellar trip with a smile and helped his family to remember the good moments from their trip. Pat’s description of the trip was “a short visit, exceptionally bad weather, overwhelmed by the Disney Dinning plan, the worst ‘internal’ Disney transportation I have ever experienced….” He also called it “by far the worst WDW stay we have ever had.”
The fact that, on the way home, both the driver of their Disney’s Magical Express bus and the pilot of their flight home had bad, hacking coughs, provided much amusement for his eight-year-old son, which provided everyone with a lift.
