Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week came from listener Tanya Rennie, who notes that, if you go to your local Disney Store to preorder the latest Sleeping Beauty DVD or Blu-ray that comes out on October 7, you receive 4 lithographs of scenes from the movie at time of preorder and a 15% off coupon for the store when you pick up the disc.
Mike notes that it’s only a good deal if you like the lithographs, since the price is usually higher at the Disney Store. Mark seems to remember hearing that someone was able to buy park passes at the Disney Store using discount coupons. It might be worth checking out.
Join us at MouseFest!
It’s just over 11 weeks from MouseFest’s land portion, and we’re getting ready for it! Mark will be co-hosting MouseFest 101 with Mike Scopa on the opening day, Thursday, December 11, in Nutcracker Ballrooms 2 & 3 at the Contemporary Resort, which will be followed by the Chairman’s Kickoff event in the same room.
We’ll have a table at the Mega Mouse Meet from 11 a.m. (10 a.m. for registered attendees) until 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 in the Grand Harbor Ballroom North at the Yacht Club Convention Center. Later that afternoon, David Koenig will be hosting “Epcot’s Never Lands,” a walking tour of the pavilions that were never built around World Showcase, from 3-4 p.m., followed by MousssseFest 2008 from 4-5 p.m. at Boulangerie Patisserie.
On Sunday, December 14, test your wits at the Mini-MouseAdventure from 10 a.m.-noon, starting from the gazebo just past Aloha Isle in Adventureland. We’ll also have the second annual Hustle-tini Meet where we’ll do The Hustle and then drink Blue-tinis at Disney’s Pop Century Resort from 5:45-6:45 p.m.

MouseStation book report
Mike did a book report on the new Kingdom Keepers book by Ridley Pearson and Greg Call, Kingdom Keepers II: Disney at Dawn. Despite Mike’s trouble in pronouncing Maleficent’s name, he gave an interesting look at the book. He notes that the first book in the series is probably the best description of backstage layouts and architecture of any book, even though it’s fiction. The new book takes place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and some of the descriptions are not as accurate as the ones in the first book. He feels that it’s not up to the standards of the first book.
Mike noted that it would be very difficult to follow the events of this book if you haven’t read the first book. It’s good, but not great. Reading time for Mike was about 6 hours, cover to cover.
Magical Moment
This week’s Magical Moment came in a voicemail from listener Nicole McCarty, whose son was selected as Junior Chef of the Day at Tony’s Town Square restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. He got an autographed chef’s hat to keep and got to wear a special chef’s jacket embroidered with “Junior Chef.” The restaurant’s chef brought out a special ice cream platter at dessert time for him to create his own sundae.
It’s always great to hear about these Magical Moments, especially ones that we hadn’t heard of before.

Listener Feedback
We did more listener feedback than usual since we didn’t do any last Thursday.
Angela Park wrote to say that she thinks that PhotoPass is a great idea and that she plans to pre-order the CD to get the discount before her next family trip to Walt Disney World in April 2009.
A Cast Member who works at La Nouba as an usher but wishes to remain anonymous wrote in to tell his thoughts on the best place to see the show. He recommends any seat in sections 203-205 in the first 7 rows, with the very best being Section 204 Row E in the middle as that is where the director sat and conducted the show. Seats in the lower area and are not suggested for those with neck problems. Also, be at the theatre AT LEAST 30 minutes before the show starts because once the show starts, you may not be seated for at least the first 13 minutes of the show due to the dangerous acts at the beginning.
Pete from Chicago got a chuckle out of Mark mentioning that the Dory character at Finding Nemo – The Musical when Mark last saw it sounded like Gracie Allen. He thinks that we must be showing our age.
Mary Tesch wrote in to say how much she enjoyed the feature-length “Ask the Kid” show about his summer visit to Walt Disney World. Mary also was impressed that he ate Mahi Mahi and noted that her kids love it also. Mark noted that it was surprising to him and his wife that the Kid tried it, but they were gald that he did.
Daniel wrote in to say that he and his wife found a foliage hidden Mickey at the Disneyland Resort. You can find a photo of it here. They know it’s not an official hidden mickey and they’re probably not the first to send this in but they thought it was fun. Daniel’s wife got excited when she saw it because she has trouble finding the official hidden mickeys around and here was an unofficial one right out in the open. Anyway, they hope you enjoy if for what it is. They took the photo in the entry plaza as you face the Disneyland entrances.
