Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week came from John Papas, who recommends taking the AutoTrain from Lorton, VA to Sanford, FL so that you can save the drive and have your car with you and leave all your stuff packed in your car.
Mark’s in-laws have taken the Auto Train a few times for their annual pilgrimage to Florida, and they enjoy the relaxing trip. Mark has considered taking the train, but because it’s such a long trip to Virginia, it’s a little too much time to spend getting to and from Florida.
Featured Attraction
This week we look at Splash Mountain at both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Mark really loves Splash Mountain. It’s a very long ride which, aside from the small amount of time spend on the drop, is spent floating past great scenes featuring the characters from Song of the South. Mike really loves it despite the fact that he really doesn’t like flume rides in general.
Mark still has problems getting The Kid onto the attraction, partly because of the drop and partly because The Kid doesn’t like getting splashed. You don’t always get very wet, but The Kid isn’t having any of that. Mark noted that he usually gets more wet going past the waterfall on the way back into the show building after the drop than on the drop itself.
Mike’s favorite song from the attraction’s soundtrack is “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,” while Mark’s is “How Do You Do?” All of the music on the attraction is great.
Mark also noted that Disneyland’s version of the attraction is populated with the animatronic characters from the old America Sings attraction.
Review System Spotlight
This week we look at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. MousePlanet readers really love it, rating it 4.8 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by Lynn57 of Boston, MA.
Lynn57 had a wonderful breakfast, with great food despite the fact that it was one of the last seatings. She and her friend got wonderful, special treatment because she and her friend were both there to celebrate their 24th birthdays.
Mike has eaten at 1900 Park Fare before, but would only go back if he was looking for a Cinderella dining experience because he doesn’t feel comfortable at the Grand Floridian because it feels so formal.
Mark has never eaten at 1900 Park Fare but would like to try it at least once, if only to see and hear Big Bertha the band organ. For James on the MousePad discussion forums, he had to note that 1900 Park Fare does not serve lunch.
You can also 1900 Park Fare in our Park Guide.
Ask the Kid
This week’s question comes from Scott Ferraioli. Scott asks: “If you could bring 1 television or movie character with you to Magic Kingdom, who would it be and why?”
He first answered that he’d take Spongebob Squarepants, who would want to go into the water at “it’s a small world”. When pressed to choose a Disney character, he then noted that he’d also like to take Phineas and Ferb (because how could they do it all if they didn’t go to Disney World?). He also noted sports champions who shout the phrase “I’m going to Disney World!” for commercials.
Mike and Mark then started joking about what Perry the Platypus from “Phineas and Ferb” would do in the Magic Kingdom.

Listener Feedback
Justin (“Spider-Pig”) wrote in for the first time in a while to thank us for doing a great job on the show.
Mark noted that a few people had offered to come on the show to talk about Disneyland Paris, and he asked them each to call the toll-free feedback line to tell us what they’d talk about so that we can judge their potential for the show. We may end up having more than one of them on the show.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
Mike is again joining Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS Gypsy of the Year online fundraising campaign. This year, he has aligned himself with The Lion King Gazelle Tour team. For more information or to donate, go to his fundraising page.
