Tip of the Week
Liana called in with some interesting information on how to find the Dream Squad at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure (for the few weeks left in the Year of a Million Dreams promotion). She also said that the Dream Fastpasses actually don’t have to be used the same day as they are received, but are actually valid through the end of the Year of a Million Dream promotion.
Mark and Mike are hoping that they win something in their last chance, since they are so far 0-for-two Years of a Million Dreams.
Featured Attraction
This week we look at Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot’s The Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion and inside the Disney Animation attraction at Disney’s California Adventure.
Mark saw Turtle Talk at the World Science Festival on a huge screen in NYU’s Skirball Center, and the fidelity was quite amazing.
Mark enjoys watching the performances where Crush needs to respond to kids who know a little too much about how he’s appearing there. Mark also loves the end of the show when Crush tells all of the little “dudes and dudettes” to keep saying “dude” for the rest of the day because “your parents will love it.”
Review System Spotlight
This week we look at the new Donald’s Safari Breakfast at Tusker House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. One MousePlanet readers really didn’t like it, rating it 2 out of five planets. Our featured review this week (the only review so far) is by csuwyn of Sacramento, CA.
csuwyn found the food “dry, not very warm, and uneventful.” csuwyn thought that it was unimpressive and a poor value for the money, though the service and character interaction were good.
Mark had a great time there in August, finding the food delicious. There were lots of varieties of African food, with some hot foods served only on the side toward the original main entrance to Tusker House. The only food he found dry was the biscuits. The character interaction was great, and the photo was good enough that he bought it, which is quite rare.

Ask the Kid
This week’s question comes from Mary Tesch. Mary asks: “You were very excited waiting for the film Wall-E to be released. Now that you’ve seen the film, did you like it as well as you thought you would? Who was your favorite character? Who was your least favorite character? If you could put yourself into the film, what type of character would you want to be?”
The Kid said that he did indeed like it as much as he thought he would. His favorite character was (unsurprisingly) WALL-E because he saves the day, “and plus he’s floating around in space with a fire extinguisher.” His least favorite character was Otto because he was telling the ‘bots to be mean to the captain. If he was in the film he first thought that he’d like to be one of the people on the “huge, giant cruise ship thingie,” then again he wouldn’t want to be fat and have to go around everywhere in a hoverchair – it would be hard to dance and do gymnastics. Mark followed up by asking what kind of robot character he would be, and the Kid said that he’d be one of the haircut robots, because he could shave people’s heads, then if they tried to put him in the broken ‘bot room, he’d chop them all with the scissors by spinning. His favorite character other than WALL-E was M-O – he liked the fact that when they introduce themselves, M-O vacuums WALL-E’s hand.

Magical Moment
MouseStation comic strip artist Sean Jones contributed a story about riding in the wheelhouse of the Mark Twain with his wife. Mark noted that many special attractions (Mark Twain wheelhouse, Monorail cockpit, etc.) are a lot of fun.

Listener Feedback
Kevin & Timbra Peace called in to the feedback line, checking in before the start of MouseFest. They were calling from Disney’s Animal Kingdom while they were waiting to get into Festival of the Lion King. They’re looking forward to MouseFest and seeing everybody at the meets.
Stuart Sternberg wrote in to ask: If we each had the opportunity to interview a living person other than someone we have already interviewed, who would it be? Also, what is the one question we would absolutely have to ask that person?
Mike decided that he’d love to interview Steve Jobs and to ask him about his vision for Pixar, especially since its purchase by Disney
Mark picked John Lasseter and Robert Iger. He would ask Lasseter about how his purview over both Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, as well as being chief creative advisor for Imagineering, and how Lasseter view his role as opposed to Walt providing creative spark for the entire company. He’d ask Iger how he managed to control his preferences while working for Michael Eisner all those years ago. Since he knows that Iger is too classy a guy to answer the question, Mark would instead ask about Disney’s focus on technology and Iger’s personal focus on techology and how much he influences the technological directions that the company goes in.
Mike had to add one more person on to his anwer; Roy Disney. He’d ask Roy what was going through his mind with the Save Disney campaign and how we can keep the vision of Walt alive into the future. Mike also talked about how he just missed Roy just before he and Mark met for the first time.
Jessica from CA called the feedback line to say that she’s a huge fan of Disney and goes to Disneyland as often as she can. She read about Mark Silverman on the MousePlanet site and was wondering if there will be any more with him, since she’s a huge fan of his and would like to read more about him. Mark said that Mark Silverman will likely appear on the show again early next year.
