Tip of the Week
Listener Robin wrote in to recommend getting small flashlights to give your child a feeling of control when trying to they are fearful of dark rides.
Featured Attraction
This week we look at Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Mark talked about how the Kid really enjoyed the Trek, and how the fruit bats and flying foxes inspired the Kid to want to get dressed as a bat for Halloween one year. The tigers are always a major hit along the trail, and the aviary is very impressive.
Mike loves the Jungle Trek, and especially loves the tigers. He noted that it was one of his “dating lanes” back when he was working at Walt Disney World. He also recommends talking with the cast members, as they’re experts in their subject matter.
Mark also recommended picking up one of the laminated cards before going into the aviary so that you can more easily identify all of the birds that you come across.
Review System Spotlight
This week we take a look at San Angel Inn Restaurante at Epcot. MousePlanet readers like it, rating it 3.6 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by csuwyn of Sacramento, CA.
csuwyn had a great time at San Angel Inn with his family, heaping extra praise on the Churrasco con Chilaquiles. They also loved the atmosphere..
Mark always enjoys the atmosphere inside the Mexico pavilion, and has only had good mealas at San Angel Inn. He also noted that the restaurant is similar to the Blue Bayou at Disneyland, as it’s the only place you can eat while watching ride vehicles float past.
Mike has eaten at San Angel Inn just about every trip to Walt Disney World because that’s the one place that his parents made sure that they ate at so that Mike’s mother (who is from Columbia) could order in Spanish.
You can also find the San Angel Inn Restaurante in our Park Guide.
Episode 300 is coming!
We still don’t know what we’re going to do for Episode 300, but we’re wondering what your favorite episodes or favorite moments from the first 2 and a quarter years of the MouseStation might be. We still don’t know what we’re going to do with them, but call or write in and let us know what you like the most!
Magical Moment
Tracy wrote in to talk about how another family made some magic for her and her boyfriend by giving them what was left of their Dream Fastpasses. Tracy and her boyfriend are now hoping to make some magic for someone else on their next trip.
Mark talked a bit about giving some of the special vouchers and magic Fastpass that he received for the American Idol press event to a family that he knew with a special needs child. First he used the magic Fastpass to get them instant Fastpasses to ride Soarin’ for their first time ever. Then, after doing a couple of rounds of the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure, he gave them the magic Fastpass, some dining vouchers and a couple of one-day park hoppers that were going to expire within a week. It was great to see the child talk about the fun that they had when everyone had gotten home.
Remember, keep paying it forward!
Last Week on MousePlanet
Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters told you what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re not visiting regularly.
Listener Feedback
Brian wrote in to mention that he remembers seeing the “I’m So Excited” opening on TV as a youngster. That was from one of the specials that Rob Klein mentioned in Part 2 of his conversation with Steven Ng.
John Papas wrote in to say that there’s a Dollar Rental Car location inside the Regal Sun Resort at Downtown Disney as an alternative to the Alamo/National Car Rental locations at the Car Care Center and the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort.
Bryant from Tuscaloosa, AL called into the voicemail to say that we had missed Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in our listing of Disney rabbits. Mark pointed out that Oswald was in the original list in Episode 281 when the whole listing started as an Ask the Kid question.
March of Dimes
Mark was recently named the top walker for the March of Dimes Northeastern New York region for 2008, and second overall in Upstate New York (above the counties of Westchester and Rockland). MousePlanet readers and MouseStation listeners helped Mark to raise over $5,000 for the worthy charity. We’re looking to beat that this year and raise $6,000! Just go to Mark’s fundraising page and help to provide a better chance to prevent prematurity and to help those babies that are born prematurely.
