Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
We’ve been able to talk John Van Meter into both extending and enhancing the Owner’s Locker Free Starter Kit promotion, exclusively for MousePlanet readers and MouseStation listeners! From now through April 30, when you select “I Heard About it on MousePlanet” in the “How did you hear about Owner’s Locker?” drop-down box, Owner’s Locker will send you a shopping list and you can choose up to $50 worth of items to be in your locker when it’s first delivered for free! If you’d like something that’s not on the list, you can contact them and they’ll work it out with you. This is a great way to both get your big purple storage locker and possibly avoid that first-day shopping trip at the same time!
If you signed up for your locker during the first month of the promotion, don’t worry! We’ve gotten John to agree to give you a $50 shopping spree, as well!
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used your locker, send us an email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week comes from listener Jim who suggested that — instead of taking a car service and racing to get everything you need during your half-hour grocery stop — consideration should be given to taking Disney’s Magical Express and having your grocries delivered by one of the local grocery delivery services. You can search for “grocery delivery” on our MousePad discussion forums for recommendations. (Send in your own tip now!)
Mike cautioned against having a grocery delivery done when you’re not at the resort, as the refrigerated area at bell services is small, and all of your cold stuff might not fit. Mark also has not used grocery delivery services since he normally rents a car anyway for various travels that he needs to do while down there. Mark also mentioned that limo services do also have their own benefits, but this is a good tip for those who want to use Disney’s Magical Express.
Six Degrees of Disney
We started with an email that we missed last time, where Robb Rockwell from Illinois connected Henry Hodges with Louis Prima through Ruth Gottschall, Kathy Bates, Dick Van Dyke, Ed Wynn and Sterling Holloway, using only Disney films and TV movies.
Next, Tom in Tampa connected the same two, using Whoopi Goldberg, Edward Asner, Suzanne Pleshette, and Jerry Lewis. He then followed up by connecting Peter Moore to Louis Prima through Bill Gates, Jon Stewart, Robin Williams, Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball, and to Henry Hodges through Steve Ballmer, Douglas Adams, Alan Rickman, Miranda Richardson and Gavin Lee. In a follow-up email, Tom connected Penn Jillette to Annette Funicello through Don Johnson and Lori Loughlin.
Marian Sargent connected this month’s official pair, Hayley Mills and Penn Jillette, through Frank Gorshin, Terry Gilliam and John Cleese. She also did the backup challenge of Annette to Jillette, through Xavier Atencio, Kiera Knightley, Ewan McGregor and James Earl Jones. At this point, Mike refused to believe that “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” was used in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, so perhaps he needs to be assigned some remedial movie viewing.
Jeff Peterson from Ramona, California connected Penn Jillette to Hayley Mills through Steve Martin, Martin Short, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Annette Funicello and Ed Wynn, thereby getting Annette and Hayley in one shot. In a follow-up, he connected them through Laurie Metcalf, Patrick McGoohan, Laurence Naismith and Donald Crisp. Then, to top it off, he connected them through only Donald Duck.
Jackie Soliz connected Penn and Hayley through Mario Lopez and Mark Paul Gosselaer.
Scott Collins suggested that we spend too much time reading through all of the responses to Six Degrees, and asked that maybe we not read them all. We’re going to consider possibly just reading a few and posting all responses in the show notes. We haven’t decided yet.
Sharla Manglass connected Jillette to Mills via James Woods, Rip Torn, Justin Long, Lindsey Lohan and Joanna Barnes.
Kim Barron called in and connected the two using Bruce Boxleitner, Eva Marie Saint and Karl Malden.
Martin Lambert guessed that the obscure Penn Jillette connection to Disney that we were referring to was his TV commercial announcer in Toy Story. Martin was wrong, but he did connect Penn with Hayley via Angela Lansbury. He also connected Jillette to Annette via Martin Mull.
Finally, Scott managed to find the obscure connection that Mike mentioned. Penn once guest starred on Muppets Tonight (see below). Using Gonzo to connect that to the pre-show for MuppetVision 3-D, the pre-show area has a net full of Jello, which is a tribute to Annette Funicello and that’s the exact connection that Mike was talking about.
Penn and Teller once appeared on Muppets Tonight.

Around the Station
This week, the Kid again joined Mike and Mark as he terrorized Mike with his new gift sent up to the MouseStation by Andrew.
The Kid really enjoyed acting out this strip by the amazing Sean Jones. Click on the strip for a larger image.
We’ve got one more from Sean already, and we’ll bring that to you next week.
We’ve now set up a page dedicated to archiving all of the “@ The Station” strips to make it easy for you to find them. We’ve got three more from Sean already that you haven’t seen yet, and they just keep getting better!
Magical Moment
This week’s Magical Moment comes from listener Kristen L. (Send in your moment now!)
Kristen and her friend had a great character interaction with Aladdin about five years ago. The next time that she returned to Disneyland three years later, the same cast member was portraying Aladdin, and asked if she had been there a few months earlier and was surprised to find that it had been so long. He remembered the hat that she had worn three years earlier. It was a great experience for her to be recognized by the cast member after so long.
