Thanks to our sponsor
Today’s show is sponsored by Owner’s Locker, a great service that gives you a place to leave your vacation-only stuff until your next trip to visit the Mouse.
The Owner’s Locker Free Starter Kit promotion, exclusively for MousePlanet readers and MouseStation listeners has only a couple of days left! From now through April 30, when you select “I Heard About it on MousePlanet” in the “How did you hear about Owner’s Locker?” drop-down box, Owner’s Locker will send you a shopping list and you can choose up to $50 worth of items to be in your locker when it’s first delivered for free! If you’d like something that’s not on the list, you can contact them and they’ll work it out with you. This is a great way to both get your big purple storage locker and possibly avoid that first-day shopping trip at the same time!
Also, if you have any great ideas for how to use an Owner’s Locker, if you’ve signed up and are anticipating using your locker, or if you have already used your locker, send us an email or call our voicemail and let us know what you think!
Tip of the Week
This week’s Tip of the Week comes in a voicemail from listener Joey from Tucson, AZ, who discovered that, even when using a blockout pass instead of a Deluxe Annual Pass at Disneyland, the Annual Pass will also get you a Fastpass, resulting in an additional Fastpass for your group. He’s going to try it again during his trip in May with his wife and sister-in-law, both of whom have Deluxe passes (Joey has a Premium pass and doesn’t need a blockout pass). (Send in your own tip now!)
Mark remembered that in the early days, any card with a magnetic stripe would work to get a Fastpass, including library cards and supermarket frequent customer cards, but that it had been fixed. He was surprised that it worked, because at Walt Disney World, passes need to be used for entry into that park on that day to be valid to get a Fastpass.
Mike always made sure to go in to theme parks through the turnstiles even when he first entered through the cast member entrances back in the parks, because otherwise he wouldn’t be able to get Fastpasses.
MouseAdventure Wrapup
Steven Ng hosted a wrapup of audio from the April 13 event at Disneyland.
Steven talked with the Merry Poppies, with Brodie’s mom Marcie, Jason (of the Above the Firehouse podcast) from Team BigHamm, the Fairies and Sleeping Beauty, staff member David Perry (who ran the MouseAdventure 101 game), staffer frequent MouseStation caller Liana Kilgore, staffer Alan Joyce (of Everything Digital) and MouseAdventure Advanced Division winners Simba’s Pride.
We also had some of MousePlanet West Coast Bureau Chief Andrew Rich’s performance as emcee.
Stump the Hosts
Randy Knickerbocker tried to stump Mark and Mike by asking “For whom or what is Pleasure Island named?”
Alas, that was a very easy question, and both Mark and Mike knew it. Mark had first learned the story of Pleasure Island during an Architheming tour that he took back in 1994 or 1995 that included the “history” of Pleasure Island and Merriweather Adam Pleasure. Mike remembered seeing it in one of Wade Sampson’s early articles.
Around the Station
Sean called in sick this week, so he couldn’t provide a cartoon. Actually, he wasn’t really sick, he just went to Disneyland. (How many of you have done the same thing?) He did, however, provide us with a trip report. We had hoped to include the audio version of his trip report, but Steven ran out of processing time. We may try to add it here later.
Ask the Kid
Mary Tesch from Seymour, Wisconsin asked Mark’s son: Who gets the best score on “Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin”, you or your Dad? (This of course assumes you’ve been on this attraction.) Do you have any good secrets for getting a great score?
Mark’s son doesn’t do well with Buzz, but suggested a strategy that he used on the Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge (a somewhat similar type of ride) at Hershey Park last fall: Aim at a target and keep firing over and over and over again.
Magical Moment
This week’s Magical Moment comes from listener Alex Navarro. (Send in your moment now!)
Alex lost the Bluetooth headset for his cell phone at Epcot and thought that it was lost forever, but was surprised to find that it had been turned in and was waiting for him at Lost and Found.

Wrapping up
On Sunday, Mark walked to raise money for the March of Dimes for the third time. While the walk is over, you can still support him. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
