Tip of the Week
This week’s tip comes via Twitter from listener Jenn Howard, who suggests that, to cool down at Disney 1) go to the parks with wet hair; 2) bring a cooler with wet washcloths to use on face & neck
Featured Attraction
This week, we look at Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Review System Spotlight
This week we take a look at Storytellers Cafe at Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel. MousePlanet readers like the restaurant, rating it 3.8 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by Sansarc of Pacific Palisades, CA.
Sansarc’s family liked the restaurant so much that they ate there twice during their trip. They gave it a 4-planet rating.
Mark gave a little history of what the name of Storytellers Cafe came from.
You can also find Storytellers Cafe in our Park Guide.
Ask the Kid – Prematurity Awareness Day
While there was not Ask the Kid segment today, Mark wanted to remind everyone that yesterday (the day this show was supposed to be published) was Prematurity Awareness Day, and asked listeners to further support the cause. Go here.
Last Week on MousePlanet
Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters recapped what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re not visiting regularly.
Listener Feedback
Mary Tesch wrote in to ask Mark about the DVC annual association meeting on December 9, and whether he had received any materials for the meeting yet. Mark has attended two association meetings so far, but as of the publishing of this show, Mark had not yet received his materials for this year.
Bill Aiken called the voicemail line to ask whether any current or new Disney Cruise Line ships have any technology for deterring pirate attacks. Mark noted that, if they did have such technology, it wouldn’t be prudent to let everyone know about it because then the pirates would be able to research how to get around it.
Kathleen mcgrath wrote in to say that she was glad to answer our survey, but was unsure how to answer things because it hasn’t been updated since we were doing four shows each week. Mark noted that he’s working on an update to the survey, but it may not go live before the end of the year.
Paul wrote in to ask if we had heard about the new Disney theme to be constructed in mainland China, and sent along a link to an article about how farmers will lose their homes in order for Shanghai to give the land to Disney. What do you think about it?
Sharla Manglass wrote that she actually had one positive thing to say about the Refreshment Port over the individual kiosks during the Food and Wine Festival. She is able to get a Diet Coke at the Refreshment Port before going to the kiosks, where you can’t get fountain drinks.
Bill Aiken called the voicemail again, this time our Magic Kingdom Bottow 3 show. Bill loves this kind of show because they get him thinking about what his Bottom 3 are. He’d definitely include Pooh’s Playful Spot. Mark and Mike started talking about John Hughes’ Vacation ’58, the short-story predecessor to the National Lampoon’s Vacation movie.
