Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes via email from listener John Papas, who suggests:

I learned this tip from a Lady in the Magic Kingdom and it worked for me,
even if you can’t get the Castle thru the 407-wdw- dine number ask the cast
member in the morning at the check in if they have any cancellation and sometimes
they do. They took us twice this way.

Mark noted that you can also call the dining line as well as checking at the
podium. Last-minute cancellations do happen, so keep checking. Mike suggested
also using the online reservations system, though Mark said that in most cases
it’ll be faster to call the Dining Line.

Featured Attraction

This week, we look at Festival of the Lion King
at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Mark gave a brief history of the Simba vs. Nemo conflict, then turned it over
to Mike to explain why he loves the show so much. Somehow, Mike got off-topic
and ended up talking a bit about Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends. Mark talked
about the history of that area of the park, which had originally been slated
to become Beastlie Kingdomme. Mark promised to post links to columns on Beastlie
Kingdomme by Paul Torrigino (link
1
, link
2
) and Maggie Parr (link

, link

).

Ask the Kid

This week’s question was asked by Stuart Sternberg who asked:

If you could cast your father and Mike in a Disney park stage show what show
or shows would you pick and what characters would you have them play?

Last Week on MousePlanet

Steven Ng, sitting in for Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters
recapped what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re
not visiting regularly.

Listener Feedback

Paul wrote in that he’d like to see us discuss the various books that are written
about Walt Disney World, perhaps breakings it into a series of “Top 3”s, such
as trivia books, guide books and books about a specific attraction or aspect
of Walt Disney World.

 data-src=

Mashelle wrote in to say that restoring Walt’s combine car would be a great
way to honor and keep Walt’s memory alive.

 data-src=

Bob Traeger wrote in to correct Mark’s guess at the spelling of his name based
upon the voicemail that he left. He also passed along his family’s opinion on
the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure.

 data-src=

Joey in Tucson called in to share his thoughts on MuppetVision 3-D

 data-src=

A.D. Johnson called to ask our opinion on what to do when someone sitting in
front of you stands up at the last minute.

Dean from New York City called to wish everyone a happy holiday of their choice.
