Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes via email from listener Stuart Sternberg, who suggests:

Between Disney trips my wife and I save our change and store it in a container. When we get close to the next vacation I bring it to our bank and exchange it for cash. This gives us extra money to spend on souvenirs and food. For those with young children you can use it to purchase Disney dollars for them to spend at Walt Disney World.

Many people have different customs around putting change into their change jar, and some have unusual things that they save for. If you do something like that, let us know!

Mike also mentioned that many debit cards now have “keep the change” programs where the change to round your purchases to an even dollar amount goes into a special account for you.

Featured Attraction

This week, we look at Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom.

Mark gave a brief overview of the attraction’s history.

Mike admitted that he goes to see the Carousel of Progress more than he sees Festival of the Lion King.

You can find a copy of the original Carousel of Progress script at carouselofprogress.org

Ask the Kid

This week’s question was asked a while ago via Twitter by Brian who asked:

If you could perform a ‘living character’ at a Disney theme park, which one? What character do you want to see next?

Magical Moment

Wesley called the feedback line with a great story of when his son got to drive the boat at Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise.

Last Week on MousePlanet

Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters recapped what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re not visiting regularly.

Listener Feedback

Deb from Michigan wrote via Twitter to Mark that she was surprised to hear Leo Laporte doing the intro to the show, because she listens to his show regularly and she didn’t expect to hear him on the MouseStation.

John Papas wrote via email to let us know that Disney and Chase have launched a Disney Rewards Debit Card (whose rewards are same the Credit Card and there is a fee). It may benefit those who don’t use Credit Cards. For more information, check out the Chase Web site.

Mary Tesch from Seymour, WI sent an email to give us a lengthy description of what she did on her recent trip to Walt Disney World. Let us know if you think that we should have a new short feature called Your Trip Reports or something like that to feature trip reports separately rather than leaving them in Listener Feedback.

What do you think? Let us know!
