400 shows?
Mark and Mike realized that, with this being show # 379 and having done 21 shows of the Magical Moment Podcast, this is the 400th show that they’ve done. That’s over 11 days of audio. That’s very scary.
Tip of the Week
This week’s tip comes via email from listener Paul, who suggests:
In order to get some relief from the over-air conditioned frigidness of the Disney busses, after getting on head directly to the back of the buss and claim a seat in the very back row. These seats are usually directly over the engine and are much warmer than any other seats. This tip only really applies to the busses that have a full row of five seats at the very back of the bus.
With the unseasonable cold currently gripping Central Florida, staying warm on the Disney buses is more important than ever. This is a great way to stay warmer when on the bus.
Featured Attraction
This week, we look at Country Bear Jamboree at the Magic Kingdom.
Mark talked a bit about the history of the attraction, its life and death at Disneyland, its origins as planned entertainment for the never-developed Mineral King resort, and its place in Disney history as “Walt’s Last Laugh.” Mark also talked about the former second set of heads for Max, Melvin and Buff when you used to exit the show directly into Pecos Bill’s, as well as the fact that Max, Melvin & Buff heads are still mounted in the former show building at Disneyland, where you can see them if you look backwards over your head after you exit the heffalump and woozle room.
Review System Spotlight
This week we take a look at House of Blues at Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney. MousePlanet readers really like the restaurant, rating it 3.4 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by ls3015 of Freeland, MI.
ls3015 and his family had two great meals at the House of Blues, enjoying both dinner and lunch, eating in both the rear and main dining rooms, and deeming it their new favorite restaurant at Walt Disney Word. This led to them giving it a 5-planet rating.
Mike really enjoys eating at House of Blues, yet Mark has not yet eaten there. You can get more information about what’s going on at the Orlando House of Blues at the HoB Web site.
You can also find House of Blues in our Park Guide.
Ask the Kid
This week’s question was asked via email by Brian Jonas from Anoka, MN, who asked:
What rides do you go on now that you didn’t go on a few years ago? What do you think of them now that you have been on them?
Last Week on MousePlanet
Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters recapped what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re not visiting regularly.
Listener Feedback
Joey in Tucson and Coleen in New Jersey responded via Twitter regarding the word that was invented by a character on the TV show Veronica’s Closet. The show featured Wallace Langham, who also plays the scientist telling you to bring an iguanadon back with you at the Dinosaur attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The invented word was “accribitz” (and decribitz).
Disney Dean and Deb from Michigan both commented via Twitter that they really enjoyed the great interview that Steven got with Marge Champion.
Stuart Sternberg did another couple of his funny MouseStation Podcast Believe It Or Not posts on Twitter:
- Epcot’s Imagination pavilion will have a new attraction – Mark & Mike Meet Captain EO in 3D
- Next week MouseStation’s Mark “Goldust” Goldhaber & Mike “Bluetini” Demopoulos make their TNA wrestling debut!
Brian Kolm commented via Twitter that there was a test of a Meeko living character at DCA years ago that was Remy-sized and hid in a basket.
John and Cindy asked via email whether we had heard of the Golf Channel reality series The Big Break, which filmed its latest season at Walt Disney World in fall 2009. They included links for the show on the Golf Channel Web site and the show overview on Wikipedia.
Kim Barron noted on Mark’s Facebook page that she stayed at Pop Century recently and loved the fact that they’re still running the pilot program for airline check-in for Southwest Airlines at the resort.
