We’re trying to decide what to do on holidays when the main MousePlanet site
is not publishing new content for the day. The next instance will be Thanksgiving,
when MousePlanet will not publish on Thursday or Friday that week to allow
staff to enjoy the holidays. Should we publish the show on those days anyway,
or should we take the days off with the rest of the site? In that particular
instance, it will be a MousePlanetWatch show and a Listener Feedback show
that will be skipped, though we would miss Short Subjects on Christmas Eve
and New Year’s Eve in December. Obviously, it’s not a common thing. There
are a very limited number of days that MousePlanet does not publish. It’s
pretty much just Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Memorial Day and Labor
Day. We did do a show on Labor Day this year, but we don’t know whether that
mattered to anybody. What do you think? The show is for you, so we’ll follow
your lead. Do you want us to publish shows during the holidays, or is it OK
to miss shows? Let us know via email
or by calling 1-866-939-2278.
If you want to contribute a story for our Monday Magical Moment segment (and
possible inclusion in the Cast Place column here on MousePlanet), you can
either use our email Magical Moment story
form or the toll-free feedback line. (We love it when you use the voice
mail system, because then we can play your call on the show!)
Featured Topic – Disney-MGM Studios Top 3
In this week’s feature, Mike and Mark discuss their Top 3 attractions, dining
locations and live entertainment at Walt Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios. They
figured that they should get the list done before the park changes its name to
Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
After spending a little time talking trash about the park, Mark and Mike
finally got down to their lists.
Top 3 dining locations
As always, we started with dining. Mike’s number three choice is Writer’s Stop
near the Streets of America Backlot. He likes the coffee and the pastries.
For his number three, Mark went with the Sunset Ranch Market, which is composed
of several smaller locations including Catalina
Eddie’s, Rosie’s All-American Cafe,
Toluca Legs Turkey Company, Anaheim Produce, Hollywood
Scoops and so on. It’s a great place to grab something quick before heading
into Fantasmic, or if you’re spending the evening at the end of Sunset Boulevard.
Mike’s runner up is the Starring Rolls Bakery. He likes the coffee and the
pastries. (Do you sense a pattern here?)
Mark’s second choice is Hollywood & Vine
(dinner only, not the character breakfast). He likes the interesting food
choices, and the food choices are nore upscale than you would think..
Mike’s favorite is Mama Melrose’s Ristorante
Italiano. He loves Italian food, and he feels that Mama Melrose’s has
really good Italian food. Mark lamented the loss of the old “all the pasta
you can eat” menu choice. Of course, he was probably partly responsible for
its demise.
Mark’s top spot went to the Hollywood Brown
Derby. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent, the service
was excellent and he had a great time singing along (quietly) to the piano
player.
Top 3 live entertainment options
Mark’s number three entertainment choice is the Indiana
Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, because it’s a fun show.
Mike’s third choice is the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. He
loves the whole thing, from the lights and sounds to the snow and hot cocoa,
though he’s not sure that he likes them on the Streets of America as much
as he liked them on Residential Street..
Mike choosing the Osborne Lights reminded Mark about them, so he added the
Osborne Lights as a tie for his number two with Fantasmic.
He loves the lights, and there’s even some video
from last year on the MousePlanet site. Mark really likes Fantasmic, but
it’s only good enough to tie for second on his list.
Mike’s number two pick is the Streetmosphere characters. He’s actually using
some awesome photos of the characters from last year as this year’s holiday
gifts.
Mark’s top pick is the Streetmosphere characters. He and his friends played
with the Mayor during his infamous 40th birthday trip. (“Give the Mayor
a ‘harumph’!”) He also had to mention Rosie the cleaning lady.
Mike’s number one choice is Fantasmic. He pointed out the Lion King seating
section of the amphitheater, as well as four Lion King moments during the
show: the “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” segment with the rafts,
Simba in the bubbles on the water screens, and Scar when the villians take
over and when the villains are defeated on the water screens.
Top 3 attractions
Mike picked The Magic of Disney Animation
as his number three choice. He liked it a whole lot better before the ripped
out the actual animation portion of the attraction.
Mark’s third pick is a tie between Walt Disney:
One Man’s Dream and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
Mike’s second choice is the Twilight Zone Tower
of Terror.
Mark went with MuppetVision 3-D as his
number two. It’s a great attraction with a pre-show that may be better than
the show itself.
Mike’s number one is Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. Mike and Mark got into
a discussion of the various areas and what you can do there.
Mark’s top pick is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
