Disney Parks raise admission prices effective Sunday, February 11
Effective Sunday, February 11, the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts implemented a price increase on most daily tickets and all annual passports. Both resorts will maintain the seasonal flex pricing structure implemented two years ago, with the price of one-day tickets based on which of three seasons—Value, Regular and Peak—the ticket is used.
At the Disneyland Resort, one-day admission during peak season increases by $11, to $135. At Walt Disney World, a one-day ticket to the Magic Kingdom park during peak season increased by $5, to $129.
While the cost of most tickets went up, there were some exceptions. At the Disneyland Resort, the price of a one-day value season ticket remained flat, and the value season one-day park hopper ticket actually dropped by $10.
Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown tells MousePlanet in a written statement:
“We know how important making memories at Disney theme parks is to our guests and we will continue to evolve our pricing in a way that gives them a range of options to meet their budget and helps better spread attendance throughout the year so they can make the most of every visit.”
Disneyland Resort annual passports saw price increases of as much as 18%, while Walt Disney World annual passports increased by as much as 10 percent. The price of the most expensive annual passport, the Premier Passport valid at both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort, jumped 10 percent to $1,579 per year.
The new pricing for all ticket and pass types for both the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort are below.
This price increase was not unexpected, and falls exactly one year after the domestic Disney theme parks last raised prices. However, Disney officials have said this is not the last change visitors will see this year. Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown also told MousePlanet:
“We will be reshaping our Annual Pass program to better manage the guest experience throughout the year, which will help all Disneyland Resort guests have a great visit, particularly as we look forward to the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.”
It should be no surprise that Disneyland is looking at ways to manage crowds around the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and that will have to include a way to manage the crush of Disneyland annual passholders eager to get a first look at the land.
Later this year, Walt Disney World will expand the seasonal flex pricing structure, which currently applies only to one-day tickets. Under the new program, Disney will introduce date-specific pricing, with the prices published in advance. This expanded flex pricing will apply to tickets of all durations, from one-day to ten-day passes. Further details of this new program were not available.
