Welcome back to another edition of Disney Stuff. Thanks again for your responses and please keep them coming. They say that every party ends up in the kitchen, at least every good party that is. Most people spend a significant amount of their time in the kitchen, especially nowadays with kitchens being more integrated into the home. So, as Disney fans, collectors and accumulators, our kitchens should have their fair share of Disney Stuff and paraphernalia scattered throughout, shouldn’t they?
If you’ve shopped on Main Street U.S.A., at MouseGears, or at The World of Disney, you’re aware that the possibility of having a completely Disney-fied kitchen is very real. At first glance, our kitchen isn’t what you would call a Disney kitchen. We don’t like to hit you over the head with any one theme in our décor. In our kitchen, there’s a hutch full of vintage McCoy pottery, one of my wife’s favorite collections, along with a nice selection of vintage milk bottles that we’ve acquired over the years. I’ve even got a spot in the kitchen for some of my N.Y. World’s Fair collection. If you scratch the surface, however, you’ll find a nice smattering of Disney kitchen stuff that’s come from our trips to Walt Disney World or from the old Disney catalog. There’s even some stuff from the Disney Store, back when they used to sell more of a variety of things like housewares and animation art, not just toys and pajamas.
The very point of this ongoing column is that we all like to have our Disney Stuff around us. It makes us smile and reminds us of our travels to Walt Disney World or Disneyland or our favorite films and characters. That said, let’s take a look at some of the Disney stuff that’s hidden in our kitchen.
I’ll pile all the kid’s stuff into one photo. The kids like their plates, bowls and cups including some cups from Disney on Broadway. Much to my surprise, there were no hidden Mickey straws in the cupboard. We tend to accumulate these on our trips and to be honest, I’m not sure where they all went. I’ll put that on the list for this August’s trip.
