Security checks at Walt Disney World and Disneyland are commonplace and something you should plan for when arriving at the theme parks. Downtown Disney, the shopping and dining district at Disneyland, also has robust security.
The security at Disney Springs, the shopping and dining district at Walt Disney World, has always been a bit mixed on the process in comparison. Now with these new changes, the security at Disney Springs will be more on par with other Disney experiences.

Disney Springs Security Process
The security process at Disney Springs has been a bit varied for years, depending on how you are arriving. Guests parking at the Disney Springs parking garages have always had to go through metal detectors and bag searches.
Guests arriving by Disney water transportation also have to go through metal detectors and be subject to bag searches if their bags trigger a response in the metal detectors.
This is pretty standard practice for security at the Disney Parks and shopping areas. But for some reason, guests arriving by Disney Resort bus have never had to go through metal detectors until now.
