News and Views
This was apparently a week when essentially nothing of interest happened in the world of Disneyland. At least not that I can find. So other than these few small items, this week’s park update is here mostly to provide the schedule information below.
If you’ve been in Downtown Disney or at the Disneyland Hotel in the last week you’ve probably seen “photo opportunity” with a 2007 Honda CR-V. This is for a contest you can enter online at the Disneyland Web site and is part of Honda’s extensive promotional deal with Disney. Unlike last year, though, when Honda gave away a car every day for a month, this time they are giving away a ticket to Disneyland every day for a month and one car at the end of the month.
Two displays of the new Honda CR-V can be found, one in Downtoan Disney next ot the monorail station and another at the Disneyland Hotel. Photo by David Michael.
The contest runs from October 19 through November 21, 2006. During that time you can enter online (registration with Disney.com is required) once a day. The grand prize is a basic 2007 Honda CR-V and a trip for four to Disneyland (must be taken by April 15, 2007). Every week during the contest one winner will receive two Disneyland Deluxe Annual Passes. The daily winner receives four 1-Day Park Hopper tickets.
Candlelight Processional
A reminder that online registration will open for Candlelight Processional dining packages this Sunday (November 5). Unlike previous years when the dinner package required spending a certain amount of money from the regular menu (and frequently people ended up purchasing food they didn’t want), this year’s plans are just a flat fee depending on the restaurant. Unfortunately, along with this also comes limited specified menu selections. Non-alcoholic drinks are included.
Each of the six restaurants will have two seatings: One at 3:30 p.m. (for the 5:30 p.m. performance) and another at 5:30 p.m. (for the 8:00 p.m. show).
All guests can register for the two least expensive categories but the seatings at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel are restricted to reservations made by annual passholders.
At $50 per person are Hook’s Pointe (Disneyland Hotel) and Storytellers Cafe (Grand Californian Hotel). For $75 per person you can choose from Granville’s Steakhouse (Disneyland Hotel), Yamabuki (Paradise Pier Hotel), or The Vineyard Room (Disney’s California Adventure). Napa Rose, which again is restricted to annual passholders, costs $125 per person.
And before you ask, we still don’t know who the narrator will be for the performances. Odds are, you’ll have to make your reservation without this information.
Pumbaa Parking
We mentioned a couple months ago that Disneyland seemed to be offering free parking at the Pumbaa Lot on Disney Way between Harbor Boulevard and Clementine Street.
Since then, the offer has continued, at least on weekends. The offer goes mostly unused, though, so any worries about additional traffic on Harbor have not realized themselves. If you’re visiting the resort and would otherwise have to pay the $11 parking fee, you might want to drive by and see if the option is available.
It needs to be reiterated that the big drawback of parking at Pumbaa is that no tram service is offered, so you must walk to and from the park. But if you’re willing to make that walk, you can buy an extra 3.6 churros once inside the park.

Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For convenience sake, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer which works best for you. And keep those tips coming – let us know if you find a better / different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are still rarely see deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts.
