Spring Break begins
Disneyland eases into Spring Break operation this week by extending hours at both parks. Disneyland will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Monday through
Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. DCA will be open 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and will stay open until
10:00 p.m. on weekends. These hours continue through the end of March, and then Disneyland launches into 8:00 am to Midnight operation through April 15th. (DCA will
be open 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. during the same period)

Monorail re-opens
The Disneyland Monorail resumed round trip operation this weekend, making it easier (and faster) for guests to ride between the
Downtown Disney and Tomorrowland Monorail stations. It also made it easier for MousePlanet photo contributor David Michael to see what was happening
inside the Submarine Lagoon, and he snapped quite a collection of photos of the work that continues on the coming Finding Nemo attraction.

Disney Gallery re-opens
The Disney Gallery was closed last week for the installation of a new exhibit, “Inspired by Disneyland.” The exhibit features paintings, ceramics
and sculptures by artists including Jody Daily, Elisabete Gomes, Kevin Kidney, Maggie Parr, SHAG, Jane Tivol, Michelle Valigura, Amada Visell, Tom
Wilson and Yakovetic.

You can see the entire collection on the Disney Gallery Web site (link), which for the first time is also including prices, availability and shipping costs
for each of the pieces offered, as well as biographies of each artist. Most of the pieces are available for immediate purchase, others are available
by special order only and may take up to 6 weeks to be shipped.
A second installation titled “Storybook Memories” showcases artwork from Disney Storybook Collections. Some of these images are available to purchase
through the Art on Demand (formerly the Print on Demand system), but pricing and availability is not displayed online.
We should also note that the Disney Gallery has resumed daily operation. The Gallery usually opens at Noon every day, and closes two hours before
Disneyland does.
Gimme a “C” “R” “O” “W” “D”!
A few MousePlanet readers noticed a large number of cheerleaders in the parks two weekends ago, and posted to our MousePlanet discussion boards
asking what was going on. The annual influx of cheerleaders is due to the United Spirit Association competitions, which bring tens of thousands of
participants into the area over a series of weekends each spring.
Fortunately the only in-park event, the 2007 USA Junior Nationals, is already past. The competition was held at the Hyperion Theater inside Disney’s
California Adventure March 3 and 4. The All-Star Nationals coming up this weekend (March 16 – 18) are held at the Anaheim Convention Center, though many
squads will certainly be making time to visit the Disney parks while they are in town.
The largest event, the High School Spirit Nationals and Dance/Drill Nationals, will be held the weekend of March 22 – 25 at the Anaheim Convention
Center. Over 20,000 participants are expected to attend this final event.

…Reservations will be accepted starting March 13th for the Mother’s Day Brunch at the Disneyland Hotel. Disney’s Royal Buffet for Mother’s Day is
Sunday, May 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Brunch is $57 for adults, $14.50 for children 3-11, and includes 4 hours of complimentary parking at the Disneyland
Hotel. Premium Annual Passholders receive a 15% discount. Call the Disney Dine Line (714) 781-DINE (3463) to make your reservations.
…Just a quick reminder, the Pirates of the Caribbean 40th Anniversary Product Release & Signing event is this Sunday, March 18 at Disneyland. The Disney

…Tickets are now on sale for Meet the Robinsons at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The theater will screen the movie in “Disney Digital
3-D” from March 30th – May 20th. The El Capitan is a popular place for Southern California residents to see new Disney films because of the special “extras”
the theater offers with each new film. During the run of Meet the Robinsons, the El Capitan will have an animation exhibit in the lobby, and will
screen the 1953 3-D short, “Working for Peanuts,” before the film.
If you want to extend your visit to Hollywood, you can attend breakfast with Chip & Dale at Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store before the 10:00
a.m. showing. Make reservations when you purchase your tickets by calling 1-800-DISNEY6 or visiting the El Capitan
Theater Web site.
…Span of Sunset will host a trunk show at Disney Vault 28 on March 24th at 10am, featuring items from their new Runaway Brain collection. A sneak

Tip of the Week
In addition to the main entrance to the Mickey and Friends parking structure, there is also a little-known side entrance. Bypassing the main entrance
in favor of the side gate can save you as much as 20 minutes on busy days.
You can
avoid lines like this by using the side entrance to the Mickey & Friends structure.
To get there, turn right onto Magic Way as if you were going to Downtown Disney, but stay in the right lane. The side entrance is just past
the entrance to Downtown Disney, on the right after the signal. The side entrance is not always open on slow weekdays, but is almost always open
on weekends and busy weekdays.

- Splash Mountain closed January 22 – May 18 for major refurbishment. No major changes are expected but lift mechanics are being replaced.
- Professor Barnaby Owl’s Photographic Art Studio closed January 23 – May 18 due to closure of Splash Mountain (store is primarily for sale of Splash Mountain ride photos).
- Disneyland Railroad closed February 5 – March 29 for track work and to allow heavy equipment access to Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
- Tom Sawyer Island dark February 5 – May 24 due to add new pirate themed elements to the island.
- Fantasmic! dark February 12 – June due to work on Tom Sawyer Island.
- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride closed April 16 – May 3 for an extensive refurbishment.

Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For convenience sake, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer which works best for you. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts.

The $389 price is for the Paradise Pier Hotel and goes up for Disneyland Hotel or Grand Californian Hotel. In addition to the hotel room, the package includes appropriate park hopper tickets, one early admission (early admission days are currently Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays), a virtual prize for the Virtual Magic Kingdom online game, admission to Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness (currently available Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, and Saturdays), a collectible Dream Coin, and Walt Disney Travel Company collectible pin and lanyard, luggage tag, and California Fun Book. Travel using this package must be booked by March 10, 2007, and completed by March 15, 2007.
2007 Good Neighbor Dream Vacation Package – This official Disney travel package (link) starts at $259/per person for two adults per two-nights. The $227 price is for the Red Roof Inn Anaheim Maingate and goes up for other Good Neighbor hotels. In addition to the hotel room, the package includes appropriate park hopper tickets, one early admission (early admission days are currently Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays), a virtual prize for the Virtual Magic Kingdom online game, admission to Mickey’s Toontown Morning Madness (currently available Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, and Saturdays), collectible Dream Coin, and Walt Disney Travel Company collectible pin and lanyard, luggage tag, and California Fun Book. Costco Travel Packages – Many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco.com. When purchasing a Costco Disneyland travel package extras that will be included are: Mickey’s Toontown Madness admission (currently available Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, and Saturdays), a character breakfast per person, a $20 Disneyland Resort gift card, a collectible pin and lanyard, and a Costco luggage tag.
Annual Passholder Discounts at the Disneyland Resort Hotels – The Annual Passholder section of the Disneyland.com Web site (click here, registration required) has details about the current AP rates for the three Disneyland Resort hotels. The offer advertises rates as low as $129 per night (plus resort fees and taxes) at the Paradise Pier hotel, and MousePlanet readers have reported rates as low as $189 per night at the Grand Californian Hotel.
The discounts are available for stays between January 28th and February 14th, and there is a limit of two rooms per Passholder. For reservations, call (714) 956-MICKEY and ask for rate plan “APD.” It may pay to have a flexible schedule and a little patience – readers have reported that it may take a little time for the phone agent to locate the best discount for your stay.
Other Discounts
Disney Visa Free-Stroller Rental – If you have a Disney Visa card you can rent up to two strollers for free at either Disneyland or Disney’s California Adventure.
Rainforest Cafe Safari Club – Membership in the Rainforest Cafe gets you a 10% discount on entrees for up to four people. It also gets you priority seating if available. Additionally, after signing up, your membership card will be mailed to you and be accompanied by a $10 award good for your next visit to a Rainforest Cafe. So if you know you will be eating there while at Disneyland and have a Rainforest Cafe local to you, it may make sense to prejoin the Safari Club so that you can use the award during your trip. ESPNZone MVP Club – Membership in the MVP Club does not offer any discounts on food. However, once a member you can make an online reservation for your party up to three days in advance and will get a 25% increase in points purchased when playing games in the Sports Arena (and 40 bonus points at activation). You must register online and your membership card will then be mailed to you within 2-weeks. The card must then be activated at any ESPNZone by the person who signed up for the card and ID will be required (link)
AAA Restaurant Discounts – AAA (American Automobile Association) members can receive a 10% discount (excluding alcohol) at Plaza Inn, Wine Country Trattoria Ariel’s Grotto, PCH Grill, and Goofy’s Kitchen.
