Classic Space Mountain resumes flights June 1
Fans of Hyperspace Mountain have just a few weeks left to enjoy the Star Wars theme. Disney announced last week that classic Space Mountain will return on Thursday, June 1. Space Mountain closes May 30 and 31 for a brief refurbishment to remove the Hyperspace overlay.

Hyperspace Mountain debuted at Disneyland in November 2015 as part of the Season of the Force promotion tied to the premier of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Season of the Force also saw the former Innoventions building transformed into the Star Wars Launch Bay, a new scene added to Star Tours, and the Tomorrowland Terrace renamaned the Galactic Grill.
Disney has not said if the other Season of the Force offerings will end once classic Space Mountain reopens in June, or if the Hyperspace Mountain or Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy overlays will return at some later date.

Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Soundtrack Release Party in Downtown Disney
Downtown Disney hosts an Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Soundtrack Release Party today, April 26, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the event stage outside the AMC Theater. The event will have live DJs and costume contest, and promises “special appearances, trivia, games, and giveaways.”
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite super hero, but as is now the Disney norm, there are guidelines for what costumes can and cannot be worn:
- All guests may dress as their favorite character, but may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other guests.
- Costumes must be family-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive, objectionable, or violent.
- Costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects, or materials that may accidentally strike another guest.
- Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
- Costumes may not reach or drag on the ground (for example, full-length princess dresses).
For those ages 13 and under, costumes and some masks may be worn, as long as the mask does not cover the entire face and eyes are visible.
For those ages 14 and older:
- Capes may be worn if the length does not go below the waist.
- Themed T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are acceptable.
- Acceptable accessories include transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus.
- Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face.
- Masks of any kind may not be worn.
- Costumes may not be worn if entering any Disneyland Resort theme park.
Disneyland testing guest Wi-Fi
As Disneyland gets closer to the launch of the new MaxPass service, the Resort has been upgrading the Wi-Fi infrastructure in the theme parks, and this weekend began testing guest Wi-Fi access. The tests have been of limited duration, so don't count on being able to access the network during your next visit. If you are lucky enough to stumble across a test, Disney warns that users may experience slower-than-normal data speeds or network outages.
In-park guest Wi-Fi access is a key component of the new MaxPass program, announced in January and expected to debut this summer. MaxPass bundles the existing PhotoPass product with a still-in-development digital Fastpass tool in the Disneyland mobile application. MaxPass allows visitors to collect and redeem Fastpass tickets using the app, instead of collecting paper Fastpass tickets.
MaxPass does not allow advanced or off-property planning. It is still a same-day program, with users activating the entitlement for the day that they visit the park. They must physically be inside a theme park to collect a digital Fastpass to use the same day, although MaxPass users need not walk to their selected attraction to claim a Fastpass ticket. A MaxPass user can walk onto Main Street, U.S.A. and claim a Fastpass for Splash Mountain if they want, without ever stepping foot in Critter Country. The MaxPass app also allows users to claim a Fastpass for a ride in the other theme park, so a user in Disneyland could claim a Fastpass for Radiator Springs Racers (in Disney Califorina Adventure) before park-hopping.
The product also includes unlimited downloads of PhotoPass photos taken for each day that the entitlement is valid. Disney announced the introductory price will be $10 per ticket, per day. Pricing for Annual Passholders has not yet been introduced.
Late Spring refurbishment update
There are a few refurbishment updates as we head into the post-spring break season.
Space Mountain closes May 30 and 31 for removal of the Hyperspace overlay. “Classic” Space Mountain reopens Thursday, June 1. The Disneyland Monorail closes on Monday, May 15 for an unspecified refurbishment, and remains closed at least through Monday, June 5.
DCA's Corn Dog Castle is closed through Thursday, May 11 for refurbishment, during which it will have an outdoor ordering kiosk. During this refurbishment, the Corn Dog Castle menu of deep-fried food-on-a-stick is available at the Paradise Garden Grill, along with a few new offerings.

The Carthay Circle Lounge is closed May 8 to 10 for a brief refurbishment. This work appears to have no impact on the restaurant.
Once Disney Junior – Live on Stage! reopens on Friday, May 26 with a new show, the Animation Building closes for a rolling refurbishment starting Tuesday, May 30. The Animation Academy show closes May 30 to June 2. Turtle Talk with Crush and the Sorcerer's Workshop also both close May 30 but their reopening dates have not been published. Both are scheduled to be closed at least through Monday, June 5.
Construction Land

The foundation of the Millenium Falcon ride in Star Wars Land is unfortunately not visible from the Mickey and Friends parking structure, but you can catch a glimpse of it while heading north on Disneyland Drive.

…Fans of the Unicorn Frappuccino from Starbucks will be thrilled to know that there is a Disney-exclusive version offered only at the Downtown Disney store in Anaheim, and the Disney Springs locations in Walt Disney World. Called the Pink Pegasus Frappuccino, this version sports a different flavor than the Unicorn version: a white mocha raspberry cocoction covered with sparking pink “dust.” Available only while supplies last.
…Disneyland's Castle Hearaldry Shop has reopened as the Castle Holiday Shop, offering a selection of Christmas decor and ornaments. The previous tenants closed up shop earlier this year, saying Disney would eventually use the space for an expanded queue for the adjacent Peter Pan attraction.

- Grand Californian Hotel Pools – closed through spring 2017. All three of the pools at the hotel will be closed for refurbishment, including the Redwood Pool and water slide, the Fountain Pool, and the Mariposa Pool. The cabanas will also close during this time. During the refurbishment, which is expected to last at least through March, people staying at the Grand Californian Hotel can use the pool facilities at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier Hotel.
- Pinocchio's Workshop – closed. No reopening date available.

- Main Street Electrical Parade return engagement – nightly, through August 20.

- 2017 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend – May 11–14. This event happens over Mother's Day weekend. Registration is still open for some events via the runDisney website.
- D23 Expo – July 14–16. Tickets are now on sale through the official D23 website.
- CHOC Walk in the Park – Sunday, August 27. Registration opens in May.
- Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend – August 31 through September 3. This event adds to the Labor Day weekend crowds. Registration is still open for some events via the runDisney website.
- Gay Days at Disneyland (unofficial event) – October 6–8. More information on the event website.
- Dapper Day Fall Outing to Disneyland (unofficial event) – Sunday, November 5. More information at the event website. This popular event grows larger each year, so it's worth making note of the date if you plan to visit the park during this weekend.
- Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend – November 9–12. This event adds to the Veteran's Day weekend crowds. Registration is still open for some events via the runDisney website.
2018
- Star Wars – The Light Side Half Marathon Weekend – January 11–14, 2018. Registration has been delayed, and will open at a later, unspecified date.
School Holidays
Notable school holidays that may impact park attendance. If you know of any other school holidays that should be listed here, please send us an e-mail (link).
2017
- Spring Break – Through April 29. The four-week period during which most local schools will observe a one-week spring holiday. Based on the blockout dates of the Southern California discount tickets, Disney expects the largest crowds April 9–23.
- Utah Education Association convention (UEA, a.k.a. “Utah Escapes to Anaheim”) – October 19–20. Expect large attendance levels October 19–22 as Utah students and families take advantage of a 4-day weekend created by their school's participation in a state education convention. Not all Utah schools or teachers close for or attend UEA, but the impact on the Resort is usually noticeable enough to mention.
- Nevada Day – October 28. Nevada schools will be closed on Friday, October 28 to observe Nevada Day, creating a three-day weekend.
We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency.

Three Day Tickets |
The 3-Day So Cal Resident 1-Park Per Day ticket offers residents of Southern California and Northern Baja California admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure on one day, and then a second visit to either park on another day on or before May 25, 2017. You can use both days of this ticket at the same theme park, or visit one park one day and the other park on the second day, but you cannot use it to enter both parks on the same day. The ticket is $149 for ages 3 and up. You can also upgrade this ticket to a 3-Day Park Hopper, which allows entry to both parks each day, for an additional $40, a savings of up to $106 compared to the box office price of a three-day park-hopper ticket. If purchased in advance of arrival, the three-day tickets include one Magic Morning admission. This benefit does not come with tickets purchased at the theme park ticket booths, so make sure to order online and print at home before you arrive. If purchasing at a participating third party ticket outlet, double-check that their 3-day tickets come with this feature. There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission today and wait until May to use the second (or third) admission. You must, however, purchase the ticket by May 22, 2017. 2017 Military Salute Offer Disney released details of its 2017 Military Salute offer for Disneyland and Walt Disney World last October, and the tickets are valid January 1 through April 8 and April 24 through December 19, 2017. At the time we first shared details of the offer, we did not know about (or Disney had not announced) a special PhotoPass promotion also available to military personnel. Through December 19, 2017, active and retired U.S. military personnel who are eligible for the Military Salute offer can also purchase the Disney PhotoPass Collection for $49, a discount of 50% over the usual $99 price. The Disney PhotoPass Collection includes digital downloads of all available PhotoPass photos linked to your account, a voucher for a dining print package and a Disneyland Resort Gallery Disc with 350 high-resolution professional photos from around Disneyland Resort. Southern California CityPASS |
Southern California CityPASS ($346/$314) – includes a 3-Day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Bonus Ticket (including one early-entry day), a one-day admission to Sea World San Diego, and a one-day admission to LEGOLAND California. The CityPASS expires 14 days after first use at any location, and the first use must occur by December 31, 2017. Purchase CityPASS through the Disneyland website or on-site at the ticket booths of Disneyland Resort or the other theme parks included in the pass. You can also purchase directly from the CityPASS website, though a shipping charge may apply depending on how quickly you need the ticket. When you purchase the CityPASS, you have the option of adding a one-day admission to either San Diego Zoo or San Diego Safari Park for an extra $42/$34. Purchase with Purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced–price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase. These are offered at Disney-operated stores only, and selection may vary by location. Recently, Disney has begun allowing customers to purchase more than one of the offers in a qualifying transaction, so if you spend $40 or more you can buy both items currently available if you wish. If you're a passholder, the minimum purchase is calculated after your discount, and your discount does not apply to the promotional item. Current offers:
Landry's Select Club – members of the Landry's Select Club get priority seating at the Rainforest Cafe when available (which makes a huge difference on busy days). This club replaces the former Rainforest Cafe Safari Club, and runs on a point-based system that gives you a $25 gift certificate after you spend $250. Membership now costs $25, but comes with a $25 birthday reward. We recommend that you prepurchase your membership before your visit so you can take advantage of the priority seating benefit. ESPNZone MVP Club – membership in the MVP Club does not offer any discounts on food. However, once a member you can make an online reservation for your party up to three days in advance and will get a 25 percent increase in points purchased when playing games in the Sports Arena (and 40 bonus points at activation). Costco Travel Packages – many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco. Disney's Resort Magic and Good Neighbor Magic Packages – These package includes accommodations in one of the three resort hotels or at one of 40 Good Neighbor hotels, along with theme park admission. The packages also come with a variety of extra inclusions and bonuses, usually a souvenir pin and lanyard, and discount coupons for various Downtown Disney merchants. The Disneyland website does not list the blockout dates for the Costco-exclusive Disney California Adventure Park Fun Pass. The blockout dates are as follows:
