Disneyland Resort Update for August 12–18, 2019
Writer's note: The Disneyland Resort Update will be fairly brief for the next few weeks as I embark on an end-of-summer vacation with family and friends. In my absence, Alan Dalinka and Todd Pickering will continue to keep you current on Disney news via MousePlanet's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, and the weekly Walt Disney World Update. Alan and Todd will also represent MousePlanet at the upcoming D23 Expo, and will share any and all breaking news as it happens.
Immediately after the Expo, all eyes shift to Walt Disney World as the Florida resort opens the second edition of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Disneyland fans might find it interesting that the two lands aren't quite as identical as announced, and Alan is quite ready to share the details from Batuu II. The Disneyland Update returns to its normal format after Labor Day.
News and Views
No ticket price increase for 2020 vacation packages
Our friends at travel partner Get Away Today alerted us that Disneyland tickets and packages for 2020 are now available, and that ticket prices did not go up. The agency has tickets that can be used any date in 2020, at the same price as 2019 tickets. 2020 packages booked through Get Away Today are eligible for the company's layaway plan. Mobile ordering expands
More than a year after Disney launched mobile food ordering at select Disneyland and Disney California Adventure locations, the list of participating restaurants is growing again, with 35 venues now offering the convenient service. The newest additions are:

Keep in mind that a an adult over the age of 21 must show valid ID to pick up alcoholic beverages, and there is still a limit of two alcohol drinks per transaction.
Galaxy's Edge operational updates
Planning your visit to Batuu is a bit easier now that the Droid Depot has begun accepting advance reservations. Visitors can book their spot up to 14 days in advance, with appointments available in 20-minute intervals. A valid credit card is required to book a reservation, but your card not charged unless you don't show up for your reservation. Instead, payment is made when you check in at the Droid Depot.

Oga's Cantina has also made a slight menu change, and now offers two signature drinks without requiring customers to purchase a souvenir mug. The non-alcoholic Cliff Dweller is still available in a souvenir Porg mug for $32.00, or without the mug for $6.00. The rum-based Yub Nub is $42 when served in a souvenir Endor mug, or $15 without the mug.

Team MousePlanet goes global for the 2019 CHOC Walk
The Disneyland Resort hosted the 2019 CHOC Walk in the Park this Sunday, August 11. The annual fundraiser is the largest of its kind, with all proceeds benefiting Children's Hospital Orange County. Over 14,000 walkers raised over $2.1 million in the weeks leading up to the walk. Walkers can continue to raise funds through September 10, and CHOC hopes to raise over $3 million from the 2019 campaign.

2019 marked the 12th consecutive year that Team MousePlanet has participated in the walk. This annual event is a fun tradition for MousePlanet staff, readers, family, and friends. This year we were even joined by a reader from Australia and a family from Chicago.
Our globe-trotting team raised over $7,000 as of Sunday morning. Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our readers, Team MousePlanet has raised over $82,000 for CHOC since 2008 through the CHOC Walk and our eBay for Charity auctions.

…This is the last week of the summer blockout season, as some annual pass types are again valid starting next Monday, August 19. On that day, Deluxe passholders can return to Disneyland, and the SoCal and SoCal select passholders can again visit Disney California Adventure.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Everyone
Purchase with purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced-price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase. These are offered at Disney-operated stores only, and selection may vary by location.
Disney usually allows customers to purchase more than one of the offers in a qualifying transaction, so if you spend $40 or more you can buy both items currently available if you wish. If you're a passholder, the minimum purchase is calculated after your discount, and your discount does not apply to the promotional item.
Character dining vouchers – Disneyland is no longer offering tickets or vouchers to be pre-purchased for Character Dining. You may still make reservations 60 days in advance with payment due at the restaurant.

Character meet-and-greet at Disney California Adventure – cardholders have access to a private character meet-and-greet photo opportunity at Disney California Adventure, and receive one free image download per visit.
Star Wars Imperial meet-and-greet at Disneyland – cardholders have access to a private character meet-and-greet photo opportunity in the Star Tours Launch Bay in Tomorrowland. Offered daily from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Darth Vader is once again the character featured at this location.

Disneyland Resort Military Discounts
Ticket discounts
Through December 18, 2019, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:
- Disney Military Promotional 3-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $178 each (an increase of $10 from the 2018 offer)
- Disney Military Promotional 4-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $198 each (an increase of $10 from the 2018 offer)
Disneyland tickets may be used through December 18, 2019, excluding the spring break blockout of April 14–22, 2019.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 18, 2019.
Hotel discounts
Military discounts are valid for stays most nights from January 1 through December 19, 2019. Travel must be completed by December 20, 2019.
Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (714) 520-7088 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category.
Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
Photopass Discount
Eligible service members can purchase the Photopass Collection for $49 plus tax through December 21, 2019. The package includes digital downloads of all PhotoPass photos in the user's account when they redeem the voucher; a voucher for a dining print package, and a Disneyland photo disc with 350 stock photos from around the Disneyland Resort.

Here are some other details you should know about regarding the offers:
- Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets ONLY by Eligible Service Members (defined below) or their spouses (but not both), for use by themselves and other family members and friends, as provided herein. These Tickets may not be otherwise transferred, distributed or resold.
- Eligible Service Members are active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
- The actual prices charged at the individual U.S. military base ticket offices for Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be less than the prices set forth above.
- Participating military sales outlets must require that Eligible Service Members (or their spouses) present valid military identification to purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets.
- Disney 3-Day or 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Disneyland Resort expire and may not be used after December 19, 2019. Valid military identification will be required for purchase and use.
- No more than six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased and (if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse (regardless of the place of purchase and whether purchased by that person or that person’s spouse). In addition, one of the six (6) tickets purchased must be used by the Eligible Service Member or his/her spouse.
- Each Disney Military Promotional Ticket must be used by the same person on any and all days.
- The Photopass Collection can be purchased only in person at Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure, or at Main Street Photo Supply in Disneyland.

Costco Travel Packages – many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco.
Disney's Resort Magic and Good Neighbor Magic Packages – these package includes accommodations in one of the three resort hotels or at one of 40 Good Neighbor hotels, along with theme park admission. The packages also come with a variety of extra inclusions and bonuses, usually a souvenir pin and lanyard, and discount coupons for various Downtown Disney merchants.
