Disneyland agrees to $233M settlement in Measure L lawsuit
A five-year legal battle has come to an end, and Disney has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by employees of the Disneyland resort after the company failed to raise its wages in the wake of Anaheim’s Measure L taking effect in 2019. The $233M settlement includes back pay, interest and penalties, and will be distributed to more than 25,000 Disney cast members.
In a written statement, Disneyland spokesperson Suzi Brown said, “We are pleased that this matter is nearing resolution. Currently, all cast members make at least the Measure L requirement of $19.90 per hour, and, in fact, 95% of them make more.”
Measure L billed as The Living Wage Ordinance, was passed by Anaheim voters in November, 2018. The law took effect January 1, 2019, and required Anaheim Resort district businesses that receive tax breaks from the city to raise minimum wages to $15 per hour. The law included mandatory increases to raise the minimum wage to $18 per hour by 2022, and annual increases afterwards.
In the run up to the election, Disney voluntarily withdrew from two tax rebate agreements, and also canceled plans to build a fourth hotel at the Disneyland Resort. Citing the canceled agreements, the Anaheim city attorney issued an opinion saying the measure would not apply to Disney should it pass.
Disney says it acted in good faith when it relied on that opinion, but cast members and their unions disagreed. In December 2019, employees filed a class action lawsuit against the Disneyland Resort for failure to meet the minimum wage provisions of Measure L. There were legal victories on both sides, with a court in 2021 ruling that there were no tax agreements in place which would make Disney subject to Measure L. That decision was overturned on appeal in July 2023.
The California Supreme Court then declined to hear Disney’s appeal, effectively ending the case. Following that decision, Disney says it immediately raised wages for cast members not already at or above the Measure L rate to $19.40, the prevailing rate at the time.
This summer, following a series of protests and demonstrations by cast members covered by the Master Services Council, Disney reached an agreement with the union for a minimum wage of $24 per hour, well above even the Measure L rate.
In November 2024, class council announced a settlement in principle had been reached, and those details were released this weekend. The $233M settlement agreement next goes back to the trial court for approval, and then begins an appeals period during which members of the class can object to the proposed terms. If there are no appeals, a union representing some of the covered employees said that back payments could begin as soon as July, 2025.

Tickets still available for most Disneyland After Dark events
Registration opened last week for the first two Disneyland After Dark events of 2025, and there are still tickets available for both theme events.
Sweethearts’ Nite takes place January 21, 23, 28 and March 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13. At press time, half of the nights were sold out, but tickets were still available for all three January dates, plus February 11. More event details on the event website.

This and That…
…Disneyland has made a welcome change to the way some attraction refurbishments are displayed on the official website. Before now, Disney usually posted only the start date of a refurbishment 90 days in advance, but the end date was not published until it fell within the 90-day window. Sometime last week Disney updated the refurbishment status for two rides which close on January 6 to give the end dates for those projects. We now know that Grizzly River Run will reopen March 13, 2025, and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will reopen January 23, 2025. This is a nice change, and we hope Disney posts this for all attractions going forward.
…It may not bode well for the future of west coast runDisney events that most of the events of the 2025 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend are still open as of press time. Runners may be staying away because of the high heat typical of the September race weekend, or they may just not be a fan of the Villains theme, which seems unlikely. Perhaps they’re holding out for a new race course, rather than the usual route through industrial Anaheim. Whatever the reason, there’s still room to register, and prices don’t go up until April 22. That said, if you’re a speedy runner and don’t want to get stuck in the back corrals, be sure to register before the proof of time deadline on April 1, 2025.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Kids Special Offer Ticket
This popular ticket is valid for visits between January 7 and March 20, 2025. You can purchase 1-, 2- or 3-day park tickets, and add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades.
These tickets start at $50 per day. In comparison, the current price for 1-day, 1-park child ticket can range from $98 for a “Tier 0,” to $194 for “Tier 6.” A fully-loaded 3-day park hopper ticket with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass add-on runs $336 with this offer, compared to the current price of $365 for just the ticket alone. That said, the cost of the add-ons really cuts into the value of these tickets. If you have the ability to spend more days, skip the add-ons and just enjoy a longer visit.

Read the fine print carefully, because you need to make a theme park reservation to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”
In addition to requiring a theme park reservation, this ticket also has a “fuse”—which means multi-day tickets expire 13 days after the first day of use (or on March 20, 2025, whichever comes first). You won’t need to use all two or three days consecutively, but you will need to make sure to use them all before they expire. From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last week of this offer unless you plan well in advance.

SoCal Resident 3-Day Ticket Offer
Southern California residents can visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks three days between January 1 and May 15, 2025 for as little as $199.
There are four versions of the Special Southern California Resident Ticket, starting at $199:
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket – $199 per person
- 3-day Park Hopper ticket – $289 per person
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $295 per person
- 3-day, Park Hopper ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $385 per person
Unlike the 2024 offer, the base version of this ticket is valid 7 days a week, not just weekdays. Even better, the January 1st start date means many visitors can use this ticket to catch the last few days of this year’s Holidays at the Disneyland Resort festivities and the Festival of Holidays before they end on January 6.
The fine print of these offers changes slightly each season, so be sure to pay close attention to details before you purchase to get the most value for your money. We note that residents of Northern Baja California are again excluded from this offer.
There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means that you can use the first admission on January 1 and wait until May 15 to use the remaining admission. However, remember that you must make a theme park reservation for each day that you want to use the ticket. Disney also warns that ticket sales may be paused or ended at any time, so it’s probably best to purchase early so you’re ready to make reservations as soon as they open for your desired travel dates. Reservations can now be made up to 180 days in advance, which as of press time includes the entire duration of this offer.
Disney states that proof of residency is required for purchase and admission, and each resident can purchase up to five tickets per day.
Disneyland Holiday 3-Day Ticket Offer for Disney+ Subscribers
Disney+ subscribers in the United States and Canada can purchase a special 3-Day, 1-Park per day ticket for $330 per person, which works out to 3 days for the price of 2. The price is the same for adults and children. The ticket can be upgraded with the Three-Day Park Hopper Add-On or with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass Add-On at an additional cost.
The tickets go on sale starting November 13, and can be used any time through December 27, 2024. Of course you will need to make theme park reservations for each day you want to visit, and this ticket has a “fuse.” All three days must be used within 13 days of the first visit, or by December 27, 2024, whichever comes first. Subscribers can purchase up to five tickets per day, and Disney says that subscribers “may use the tickets for themselves and members of their household.”

2025 Military Ticket discounts
Now through December 23, 2025, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:
- 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $295 ($26 increase from the 2024 offer)
- 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $391 ($32 increase)
- 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $349 ($34 increase)
- 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $477 ($42 increase)
Disneyland tickets may be used January 1 through December 27, 2025, which adds New Years Day and Christmas week to the offer. There are no other blockout dates this year, so the ticket is valid during spring break, summer, Halloween Time and beyond.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 27, 2025.
