Disneyland raises admission prices
Sunday morning, the Disneyland Resort raised prices on daily tickets and some annual passports, along with some parking fees. Ticket prices also increased at Walt Disney World. Both resorts maintained the seasonal pricing structure implemented a year ago, with the price of one-day tickets based on which of three seasons—Value, Regular and Peak—the ticket used.
In a written statement to MousePlanet, Disneyland Resort spokeswoman Suzi Brown said, “Our pricing provides guests a range of options that allow us to better manage demand to maximize the guest experience and is reflective of the distinctly Disney offerings at all of our parks.”
One-day admission during peak season increased by $5, to $124 at the Disneyland Resort, with the price of other single- and multi-day tickets increasing from $2 to $15. SoCal Select, SoCal, and Deluxe annual passports increase by $10 or $20, but there is no change to the price of Signature, Signature Plus or Premier passports.
There was no change to the price or terms of the 3-Day So Cal Resident 1-Park Per Day ticket, which offers residents of Southern California and Northern Baja California admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure on one day, and then a second visit to either park on another day on or before May 25, 2017.
That ticket is $149 for ages 3 and up. You can use both days of this ticket at the same theme park, or visit one park one day and the other park on the second day, but you cannot use it to enter both parks on the same day.
For an additional $40, you can also upgrade this ticket to a 3-Day Park Hopper, to be able to enter both parks each day. This is a savings of up to $121 compared to the box office price of a three-day park-hopper ticket.
If purchased in advance of arrival, the three-day tickets include one Magic Morning admission. This benefit does not come with tickets purchased at the theme park ticket booths, so make sure to order online and print at home before you arrive. If purchasing at a participating third-party ticket outlet, double-check that their 3-day tickets come with this feature.
There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission today and wait until May to use the second (or third) admission. You must, however, purchase the ticket by May 22, 2017. Tickets expire May 25, 2017, and are blocked out April 9 through 23, 2017.
You can either purchase tickets at the Disneyland Resort ticket booths, or online at Disneyland.com and print them at home. You can also purchase them at participating Disney Stores and authorized third party ticket outlets, including many local grocery stores. An opening far, far away
Star Wars fans will have to hold on for a while longer to get their first look at the 14-acre Star Wars Land expansion. During a quarterly earnings call last week, the company announced the dual projects under construction at both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World will open in 2019. The announcement did not hint at a month or even a season for the grand opening, nor give any indication whether the two lands will open at the same time.

Annual Passholder promotion draws large crowds to Disneyland
The month-long Annual Passholder Days promotion began last Friday, and large crowds of passholders turned out to participate in the event. The line for the AP Welcome Center in the Tomorrowland Starcade was over an hour long by the time the center opened Friday morning, and readers reported the center remained busy all weekend.

At the Welcome Center, passholders can pick up a souvenir Main Street Electrical Parade button, designed by artist Jeff Granito. The small space also has a character meet-and-greet, photo backdrops, a craft area, and a place to recharge cell phones.
Disney is using a Fastpass-like system for the character meet-and-greet. Cast members issue tickets with return times for passholders to come back to take their photo. Reader OlegC reported that all of the Fastpass tickets were already distributed for the day when he visited the center at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

AP Days merchandise is available at both the Welcome Center and at the Disneyana Shop on Main Street, though some items were already sold out by Sunday. Cast members said they expect additional shipments throughout the promotion, but encourage passholders to buy items when they see them, in case they are not restocked.
The runs through Thursday, March 9, with a new button design released each Friday.
Construction Land
Even as Star Wars Land enters a new phase of construction, there is visible progress on other projects inside the resort. At Disney California Adventure, a large section of the former Tower of Terror facade is visible, offering a first detailed look at the new paint and accents on the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.

This and that…
…Mickey's Soundsational Parade is scheduled to return to Disneyland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday March 24. The parade has been on hiatus since before the holiday season began. There is still no word about the Pixar Play Parade, except a mention on the Disneyland website that the parade will return in 2017.
…A Beauty and the Beast pop-up shop opened in Fantasyland over the weekend, in the small space next to the Village Haus restaurant which has been alternately used as a store and a character meet-and-greet location.

…Disneyland has filed a permit to build an elevator to provide wheelchair access to the second-floor offices and patio above City Hall. The elevator will also provide wheelchair access to Walt's apartment above the fire station.
…We now have a reopening date for Grizzly River Run. The ride is scheduled to reopen March 22 following refurbishment.

- House of Blues Anaheim – closed. The 23,000-square-foot restaurant and concert venue has been demolished. A new Splitsville Lanes is scheduled to open on the site in late 2017.

Disneyland Resort Hotels

Grand Californian Hotel Pools – closed through spring 2017, All three of the pools at the hotel will be closed for refurbishment, including the Redwood Pool and water slide, the Fountain Pool, and the Mariposa Pool. The cabanas will also close during this time. During the refurbishment, which is expected to last at least through March, people staying at the Grand Californian Hotel can use the pool facilities at the Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier Hotel.

School Holidays

2017
- Cesar Chavez Day – Friday, March 31. Many locals schools are closed.
- Spring Break – April 2–29. The four-week period during which most local schools will observe a one-week spring holiday. Based on the blockout dates of the Southern California discount tickets, Disney expects the largest crowds April 9–23.
- Utah Education Association convention (UEA, a.k.a. “Utah Escapes to Anaheim”) – October 19–20. Expect large attendance levels October 19–22 as Utah students and families take advantage of a 4-day weekend created by their school's participation in a state education convention. Not all Utah schools or teachers close for or attend UEA, but the impact on the Resort is usually noticeable enough to mention.
- Nevada Day – October 28. Nevada schools will be closed on Friday, October 28 to observe Nevada Day, creating a three-day weekend.
We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency.

2017 Military Salute Offer Disney released details of its 2017 Military Salute offer for Disneyland and Walt Disney World last October, and the tickets are valid January 1 through April 8 and April 24 through December 19, 2017. At the time we first shared details of the offer, we did not know about (or Disney had not announced) a special PhotoPass promotion also available to military personnel. From January 1 to December 19, 2017, active and retired U.S. military personnel who are eligible for the Military Salute offer can also purchase the Disney PhotoPass Collection for $49, a discount of 50% over the usual $99 price. The Disney PhotoPass Collection includes digital downloads of all available PhotoPass photos linked to your account, a voucher for a dining print package and a Disneyland Resort Gallery Disc with 350 high-resolution professional photos from around Disneyland Resort. Southern California CityPASS |
Southern California CityPASS ($346/$314) – includes a 3-Day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Bonus Ticket (including one early-entry day), a one-day admission to Sea World San Diego, and a one-day admission to LEGOLAND California. The CityPASS expires 14 days after first use at any location, and the first use must occur by December 31, 2017. Purchase CityPASS through the Disneyland website or on-site at the ticket booths of Disneyland Resort or the other theme parks included in the pass. You can also purchase directly from the CityPASS website, though a shipping charge may apply depending on how quickly you need the ticket. When you purchase the CityPASS, you have the option of adding a one-day admission to either San Diego Zoo or San Diego Safari Park for an extra $42/$34. Purchase with Purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced–price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase. These are offered at Disney-operated stores only, and selection may vary by location. Recently, Disney has begun allowing customers to purchase more than one of the offers in a qualifying transaction, so if you spend $40 or more you can buy both items currently available if you wish. If you're a passholder, the minimum purchase is calculated after your discount, and your discount does not apply to the promotional item. Current offers:
Landry's Select Club – members of the Landry's Select Club get priority seating at the Rainforest Cafe when available (which makes a huge difference on busy days). This club replaces the former Rainforest Cafe Safari Club, and runs on a point-based system that gives you a $25 gift certificate after you spend $250. Membership now costs $25, but comes with a $25 birthday reward. We recommend that you prepurchase your membership before your visit so you can take advantage of the priority seating benefit. ESPNZone MVP Club – membership in the MVP Club does not offer any discounts on food. However, once a member you can make an online reservation for your party up to three days in advance and will get a 25 percent increase in points purchased when playing games in the Sports Arena (and 40 bonus points at activation). You can also upgrade this ticket to a 3-Day Park Hopper, which allows entry to both parks each day, for an additional $40, a savings of up to $106 compared to the box office price of a three-day park-hopper ticket. If purchased in advance of arrival, the three-day tickets include one Magic Morning admission. This benefit does not come with tickets purchased at the theme park ticket booths, so make sure to order online and print at home before you arrive. If purchasing at a participating third party ticket outlet, double-check that their 3-day tickets come with this feature. There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission today and wait until May to use the second (or third) admission. You must, however, purchase the ticket by May 22, 2017. Costco Travel Packages – many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco. Disney's Resort Magic and Good Neighbor Magic Packages – These package includes accommodations in one of the three resort hotels or at one of 40 Good Neighbor hotels, along with theme park admission. The packages also come with a variety of extra inclusions and bonuses, usually a souvenir pin and lanyard, and discount coupons for various Downtown Disney merchants.
