A musical update to “it’s a small world”
Disneyland’s “it’s a small world” is closed for extended refurbishment, and the company announced last week that the attraction’s iconic tune will soon be updated with a third verse, written by the late composer Richard Sherman in what is described as, “his final Disney contribution.”
Sherman passed in May, 2024. Last November, in honor of the song’s 60th anniversary of “it’s a small world,” Disney created a short film called “The Final Verse,” in which was revealed Sherman’s addition to the song. You can watch the YouTube version below, or if you’re willing to risk having an emotional breakdown in public, you can wait until July 17th and watch the film inside the Main Street Cinema.
As seen in the short film, and as shared by Disney, the final verse is as follows:
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
Disney did not indicate if the other “it’s a small world” attractions around the world will be updated with this final verse as well.
Walt’s Disneyland debut delayed until July
During the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, then-Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced that an audio-animatronic figure of Walt Disney would be coming to Disneyland. Disney later announced that the new show, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” would debut on May 16, 2025 as part of the kickoff to Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration.
That debut has been delayed until Disneyland’s actual 70th anniversary on July 17, 2025, according to the Disney Parks Blog. In addition to the new Walt Disney show, which will eventually be shown in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,” the Main Street Opera House is also getting three brand-new gallery exhibits to commemorate Walt Disney’s life and legacy.
Disney says the first gallery experience focuses on “the evolution of Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland.” They said, “On display will be images, art and artifacts – some never before seen – that show Disneyland before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality.”
The next exhibit will tell the “story and history of Audio-Animatronics technology, from Walt’s day leading to the advancement of where we are today.”
These exhibits have been curated with the cooperation of the Walt Disney Archives, Walt Disney Imagineering, and the Walt Disney Family Museum, which is loaning some items from Walt Disney’s Main Street apartment above the fire station. This will be the first opportunity for most guests to see these items, as access to Walt’s apartment is increasingly limited. The exhibit will also include some of Walt’s many awards.
After the show, the exit hallway from the theater will feature a one final exhibit, which will “preview projects and moments of how Disneyland will continue to move forward, as well as showcase how it has done so for decades.”
Food & Wine Festival preview
The Foodie Guide to the California Food & Wine Festival is up, and can I selfishly say that I’m grateful that there’s almost no coconut in the assortment of drinks and dishes? This looks like a good lineup of returning favorites and new dishes, including another whole-fish preparation from Paradise Garden Grill.
The 2025 festival runs February 28 through April 21, giving fans almost two months to eat their way through eight Festival Marketplace booths, and the special offerings of nearly 30 restaurant partners in Disney California Adventure, the Downtown Disney district and the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.
Back this year are culinary demonstrations on the Hollywood Backlot Stage, with details and schedules coming closer to the event. Junior chefs can again decorate treats during the Confection Purrfection with the SuperKitties show.
Disney will again offer a Sip & Savor pass for the Festival, with a choice of four (4) or eight (8) credits. Pricing was not yet released.
New this year is a Disney Gift Card themed to the Festival, and packaged with a limited edition pin. You can receive this pin while supplies last, with a $100 activation minimum. We’ve seen this promotion around holidays and at some Walt Disney World events, but I believe it’s the first time the Disneyland Resort has offered a promotion tied to Food & Wine Festival.

Season of the Force returns March 28
The Season of the Force promotion returns to Disneyland from March 28 through May 11, and even if you don’t purchase tickets to one of the after-hours Star Wars Nite events there will be bonus Star Wars material during regular park hours.
The big deal this coming year is the introduction of Luke Skywalker to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney announced shortly after we published last week’s article that the iconic character will make his first appearances in the new land “for a limited time”. Luke will also appear in “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga,” the new music-and-projection show viewable from Galaxy’s Edge.
“Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” replaces the current “Fire of the Rising Moons” show, and on select nights offers an alternate view of the traditional Disneyland fireworks. Though the absolute best view of the projections and pyrotechnics comes from the patio outside Docking Bay 7, you can also get a good view from in front of the Millennium Falcon. If crowds aren’t your thing, there are several places in the land where you can see the fireworks, but will miss the projections.
On a side note, it appears that the added-cost Nighttime Gathering has been removed from the Dining Events page of the Disneyland website. No word if that viewing package will return in conjunction with the new show.
In Tomorrowland, Hyperspace Mountain returns for a limited time, and Star Tours continues to offer as many as 250 different combinations of destinations and character encounters. There seems to be surprisingly little in the way of new food and beverage offerings – just one new frozen drink at the Galactic Grill – and even all of the novelty items are repeats from prior years. There may be more that Disney has yet to announce, but it was surprising to see so many returning items.
The big news on the merchandise side is the addition of Star Wars plush for the Create Your Own Headband collection. Shoppers can now add Yoda, R2-D2, Ewok, Darth Vader and a stormtrooper to their headbands.

Grand Californian Hotel
- Storytellers Cafe – closes for refurbishment starting March 3. The remodel is expected to last a few weeks. Permits filed with the city of Anaheim show the restaurant is adding two additional buffet stations during the renovation. While Storytellers Cafe is closed, Hearthstone Lounge will expand lunch service to 7 days per week with a limited menu. The lobby restaurant will also offer a new daily breakfast buffet exclusively for guests staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The buffet is offered 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. daily.
- Napa Rose – closes March 28 for an extensive refurbishment. The restaurant is expected to reopen in fall, 2025.
- A new two-story club lounge is planned for the Grand Californian Hotel, and will be constructed on the 5th and 6th floors overlooking the grand lobby.
- Guest room renovations will take place in phases through the fall.
Disneyland Hotel
- The E-Ticket Club in the Adventure Tower is closed for expansion and refurbishment. The lounge will reopen as the High Key Club in summer, 2025. During construction, a temporary Concierge lounge is located on the lobby level of the Frontier Tower for all Club-Level Guests.
- Electric vehicle charging will be temporarily unavailable at this hotel due to system upgrades beginning in March 2025 and continuing through the spring—with completion expected this summer. During that time, guests may use the vehicle charging stations in the Simba Lot.
- Steakhouse 55 – permanently closed. The lobby bar has reopened as the Broken Spell Lounge.
Pixar Place Hotel
- Pool Deck – closes for refurbishment February 17. Disney says that guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel during the work can use the Disneyland Hotel pools, and may still view fireworks (when offered) from the Pixar Place Hotel pool deck. There was no indication given of how long the refurbishment will last.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Kids Special Offer Ticket
This popular ticket is valid for visits between January 7 and March 20, 2025. You can purchase 1-, 2- or 3-day park tickets, and add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades.
These tickets start at $50 per day. In comparison, the current price for 1-day, 1-park child ticket can range from $98 for a “Tier 0,” to $194 for “Tier 6.” A fully-loaded 3-day park hopper ticket with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass add-on runs $336 with this offer, compared to the current price of $365 for just the ticket alone. That said, the cost of the add-ons really cuts into the value of these tickets. If you have the ability to spend more days, skip the add-ons and just enjoy a longer visit.

Read the fine print carefully, because you need to make a theme park reservation to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”
In addition to requiring a theme park reservation, this ticket also has a “fuse”—which means multi-day tickets expire 13 days after the first day of use (or on March 20, 2025, whichever comes first). You won’t need to use all two or three days consecutively, but you will need to make sure to use them all before they expire. From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last week of this offer unless you plan well in advance.

Heroes Ticket
The Disneyland Resort is honoring the firefighters, law enforcement personnel and emergency medical technicians who worked to battle the Palisades and Eaton fires in January with complimentary admission to the “Happiest Place on Earth” for themselves and one guest. Eligible personnel can receive two one-day park hopper tickets to visit the Disneyland Resort Mondays through Thursdays from May 6 to August 7, 2024
Those eligible for the offer include “eligible California firefighters as well as eligible Los Angeles-based law enforcement personnel and emergency medical technicians who helped combat the LA fires in January 2025. The Heroes Ticket will also be available to eligible individuals from other departments that provided mutual aid assistance.” Disney says more detailed information will be sent directly to the qualifying departments in April. SoCal Resident 3-Day Ticket Offer
Southern California residents can visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks three days between January 1 and May 15, 2025 for as little as $199.
There are four versions of the Special Southern California Resident Ticket, starting at $199:
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket – $199 per person
- 3-day Park Hopper ticket – $289 per person
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $295 per person

Unlike the 2024 offer, the base version of this ticket is valid 7 days a week, not just weekdays. Even better, the January 1st start date means many visitors can use this ticket to catch the last few days of this year’s Holidays at the Disneyland Resort festivities and the Festival of Holidays before they end on January 6.
The fine print of these offers changes slightly each season, so be sure to pay close attention to details before you purchase to get the most value for your money. We note that residents of Northern Baja California are again excluded from this offer.
There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means that you can use the first admission on January 1 and wait until May 15 to use the remaining admission. However, remember that you must make a theme park reservation for each day that you want to use the ticket. Disney also warns that ticket sales may be paused or ended at any time, so it’s probably best to purchase early so you’re ready to make reservations as soon as they open for your desired travel dates. Reservations can now be made up to 180 days in advance, which as of press time includes the entire duration of this offer.
Disney states that proof of residency is required for purchase and admission, and each resident can purchase up to five tickets per day.

Disney Rewards VISA Cardmember Perks
Disney Character Experience at Disney California Adventure – cardholders have access to a private photo opportunity at Disney California Adventure, where they can meet and pose with a Disney character. 2025 Military Ticket discounts
Now through December 23, 2025, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:
- 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $295 ($26 increase from the 2024 offer)
- 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $391 ($32 increase)
- 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $349 ($34 increase)
- 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $477 ($42 increase)
Disneyland tickets may be used January 1 through December 27, 2025, which adds New Years Day and Christmas week to the offer. There are no other blockout dates this year, so the ticket is valid during spring break, summer, Halloween Time and beyond.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 27, 2025.
This offer must be purchased at a participating US military base ticket office. Eligible US Military service members can also buy tickets via GOVX.com
2025 Military Hotel discounts
Military discounts are valid for stays most nights from January 1 through December 27, 2025. You can book now through December 23, 2025, and travel must be completed by December 28, 2024.
Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (800) 453-4911 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category. Concierge rooms, Signature or Premium suites, or 2-or 3-Bedroom Villas are excluded from the offer, and this offer can not be combined with any other discount.
Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
