Disneyland drops more 70th Anniversary details

Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration officially kicks off in just over two months, and the Resort last week gave a look at even more of the decor, merchandise and entertainment planned for the event.
Attractions
When Toy Story Midway Mania opened at Disney California Adventure, much was made over the fact that the digital platform for the game / attraction made it relatively easy to update the game and even add seasonal overlays. That really never happened, and so it was a surprise when Disney announced a 70th anniversary overlay for the ride. Concept art shows riders aiming for 70th anniversary stickers on the targets. Hopefully this update proves popular, and Disney moves ahead with some of the other overlays they teased more than a decade ago.

Disney has already announced that “it’s a small world” will reopen with a new lyric added to the attraction’s iconic theme song. Now we know that characters from the Disney Pixar film “Coco” will be added to the ride. The concept photo was cleverly composed to conceal whether the Three Caballeros will remain in the scene. (Donald Duck, Panchito and Jose Carioca were formerly outside of frame to the left).

Entertainment
We have a name for the latest incarnation of World of Color at Disney California Adventure. “World of Color Happiness!” is hosted by the emotions from “Inside Out,” and includes music from Boyz II Men and FITZ of Fitz and the Tantrums. Disney also announced that there will be a pre-show featuring The Muppets, which if memory serves marks the first time the characters have been seen inside Disney California Adventure since Muppet*Vision 3D more than a decade ago.

Also returning to Disney California Adventure is the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” parade, last performed during the 2024 Pixar Fest promotion.

The Paint the Night parade will return to Disneyland for the celebration, including the “Frozen” parade unit which was not presented when the parade last appeared at Disney California Adventure.

Duffy the Disney Bear and his friend ShellieMay will appear in a new “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” at Disneyland during the 70th anniversary promotion. The duo are a mega hit at the international Disney parks, and have made appearances at Walt Disney World. This will be ShellieMay’s first visit to Disneyland. Expect a massive demand for any 70th anniversary ShellieMay merchandise which may be released.
More Disney characters will appear in this cavalade, sporting their new 70th anniversary outfits, including Max and Goofy.

At night, Disneyland visitors can enjoy the return of the Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular to Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., the Rivers of America and “it’s a small world.” The projections and music are accompanied by fireworks on scheduled nights.

“it’s a small world” also serves as a canvas for Tapestry of Happiness, a new projection show set to the 70th celebration theme song “Celebrate Happy.” A similar show, described as a musical interlude, will take place in Disney California Adventure, using the Carthay Circle Restaurant and buildings on Buena Vista Street as a canvas.
Not to diminish the celebration, but it’s worth noting that Disney says, “Select entertainment and experiences will temporarily pause during the celebration to make way for seasonal entertainment offerings, then resume at later dates.” Disney did not elaborate on what entertainment may go on hiatus during the 70th anniversary, but we’re hoping everything does resume as scheduled. We’ve already seen significant entertainment cuts in the past year, and would hate if this anniversary were used as a convenient way to further trim the offerings.
Merchandise
In addition to any as-yet-unannounced but inevitable Disneyland ShellieMay merchandise, Disneyland has given us a few previews of merchandise planned for the 70th anniversary. The official celebration runs for more than a year, and we expect Disney will release new collections during the promotion to keep collectors coming back for more.

Disneyland Anniversary Ticket Offer

Fans can visit Disneyland up to four times during the 70th anniversary for as little as $100 per day with a newly-announced Disneyland Anniversary Ticket which goes on sale today, March 11.
The tickets are valid for visits during the first months of the 70th anniversary celebration, May 16 through August 14, 2025. You can purchase 3-day park tickets for $360 per person, or 4-day park tickets for $400. Pricing is the same for all ages 3 and older. As always, you can add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades for an extra charge.

Even better, there is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission on May 16 and wait until August to use the remaining admission days if you wish. However, you must make a theme park reservation for each day you wish to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day.
As with the prior offer, the terms state, “Reservation availability for these offer tickets is not guaranteed for any date and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches. To ensure best availability, make reservations early.” From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last weeks of this offer unless you plan well in advance.
Tickets available on the Disneyland website, or through MousePlanet’s travel partner Get Away Today. Book online at Get Away Today or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.
South by Southwest download
During The Future of World-Building at Disney panel this past Saturday at the South by Southwest conference, Disney executives and a celebrity guest gave an update on projects in the works at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

Avengers Infinity Defense, the first of the two new Avengers Campus attractions, has been announced and revisited at the past two D23 Expos. There did not seem to be new details about this ride released during SXSW. Rather, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Walt Disney Imagineering President Bruce Vaughn and Robert Downey Jr. spent most of their time talking about the second attraction, Stark Flight Lab. This ride combines track-based movement with robot arm technology, a theme park first. In an unusual step, Disney has shared quite a bit of art and video from the new attraction, highlighting the technology behind the ride.
No dates were confirmed for the new attractions, but construction has begun on the expansion of Avengers Campus.
In the Star Wars section of the talk, director Jon Favreau joined Walt Disney Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama let fans know they should plan to visit Batuu on May 26, 2026, to experience a new version of Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run based on “The Mandalorian & Grogu.” The ride will feature a new mission set parallel to the events of the film, and include locations from the new movie.

The presentation also included word that the adorable BDX Droids which debuted at Disneyland last April will appear in “The Mandolorian & Grogu,” and will soon make visits to Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.
Final days for the Kids Special Offer Ticket
Even as Disneyland announces a new discount ticket offer, the days are numbered for the Kids Special Ticket Offer which debuted January 7, 2025.
Disney has stopped selling these $50 discount tickets, and the final day to use tickets already purchased is March 20, 2025. Theme park reservations are required to use any unexpired remaining dates. The good news is that as of press time, there was full reservation availability for this ticket for the remaining 10 days.
This and That…
…Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is now closed for refurbishment through March 20.
…Grizzly River Run is scheduled to reopen this Friday, March 14.

…We shared earlier that the Disneyland website had been updated to indicate that Meet Tinker Bell in Pixie Hollow would reopen on April 6. The attraction is now showing as closed through at least April 21, which is as far in advance as refurbishments have been published. We have no word why the refurbishment has been extended even longer.
…At press time, only the Enchant Magic Key was still available for new purchase. The other three Magic Key tiers are currently listed as available for renewal only to those who already hold a Magic Key.
…At press time, tickets were still on sale for almost all of the Disneyland After Dark – Star Wars Nite events in April and May. Only the Sunday, May 4th event has sold out. More event details on the event website.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Tickets, Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
One Day Tickets
Ticket & Season | Adult One-Park | Child (3–9) One-Park | Park Hopper Add-On |
---|---|---|---|
One Day – Tier 0 | $104 | $98 | $65 |
One Day – Tier 1 | $126 | $116 | $65 |
One Day – Tier 2 | $142 | $132 | $65 |
One Day – Tier 3 | $164 | $146 | $70 |
One Day – Tier 4 | $180 | $170 | $70 |
One Day – Tier 5 | $196 | $186 | $75 |
One Day – Tier 6 | $206 | $196 | $75 |
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass Add-On – $32 per day, per ticket when purchased in advance. Demand-based pricing applies to same-day purchases, starting at $33 per ticket.
- Lightning Lane Premier Pass Add-On – $400 per day, per ticket
Check the Disneyland website to see what type of ticket you need for the day you plan to visit. Seasonal pricing applies only to one-day tickets.
Book now here at Get Away Today or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.
Kids Special Offer Ticket
This popular ticket is valid for visits between January 7 and March 20, 2025. You can purchase 1-, 2- or 3-day park tickets, and add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades.
These tickets start at $50 per day. In comparison, the current price for 1-day, 1-park child ticket can range from $98 for a “Tier 0,” to $194 for “Tier 6.” A fully-loaded 3-day park hopper ticket with the Lightning Lane Multi Pass add-on runs $336 with this offer, compared to the current price of $365 for just the ticket alone. That said, the cost of the add-ons really cuts into the value of these tickets. If you have the ability to spend more days, skip the add-ons and just enjoy a longer visit.
Ticket Duration and Type | One Park Per Day | Park Hopper add on | Lightning Lane Multi Pass Add On |
One Day | $50 | $45 | $32 |
Two Day | $100 | $85 | $64 |
Three Day | $150 | $90 | $96 |
Read the fine print carefully, because you need to make a theme park reservation to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”
In addition to requiring a theme park reservation, this ticket also has a “fuse”—which means multi-day tickets expire 13 days after the first day of use (or on March 20, 2025, whichever comes first). You won’t need to use all two or three days consecutively, but you will need to make sure to use them all before they expire. From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last week of this offer unless you plan well in advance.
More details about this offer.
Heroes Ticket
The Disneyland Resort is honoring the firefighters, law enforcement personnel and emergency medical technicians who worked to battle the Palisades and Eaton fires in January with complimentary admission to the “Happiest Place on Earth” for themselves and one guest. Eligible personnel can receive two one-day park hopper tickets to visit the Disneyland Resort Mondays through Thursdays from May 6 to August 7, 2024
Those eligible for the offer include “eligible California firefighters as well as eligible Los Angeles-based law enforcement personnel and emergency medical technicians who helped combat the LA fires in January 2025. The Heroes Ticket will also be available to eligible individuals from other departments that provided mutual aid assistance.” Disney says more detailed information will be sent directly to the qualifying departments in April. Park reservations are required to use the tickets

SoCal Resident 3-Day Ticket Offer
Southern California residents can visit the Disneyland Resort theme parks three days between January 1 and May 15, 2025 for as little as $199.
There are four versions of the Special Southern California Resident Ticket, starting at $199:
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket – $199 per person
- 3-day Park Hopper ticket – $289 per person
- 3-day, 1 park per day ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $295 per person
- 3-day, Park Hopper ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $385 per person
Unlike the 2024 offer, the base version of this ticket is valid 7 days a week, not just weekdays. Even better, the January 1st start date means many visitors can use this ticket to catch the last few days of this year’s Holidays at the Disneyland Resort festivities and the Festival of Holidays before they end on January 6.
The fine print of these offers changes slightly each season, so be sure to pay close attention to details before you purchase to get the most value for your money. We note that residents of Northern Baja California are again excluded from this offer.
There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means that you can use the first admission on January 1 and wait until May 15 to use the remaining admission. However, remember that you must make a theme park reservation for each day that you want to use the ticket. Disney also warns that ticket sales may be paused or ended at any time, so it’s probably best to purchase early so you’re ready to make reservations as soon as they open for your desired travel dates. Reservations can now be made up to 180 days in advance, which as of press time includes the entire duration of this offer.
Disney states that proof of residency is required for purchase and admission, and each resident can purchase up to five tickets per day.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category. Concierge rooms, Signature or Premium suites, or 2-or 3-Bedroom Villas are excluded from the offer, and this offer can not be combined with any other discount.
Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
