Disneyland kicks off 70th Anniversary promotion

Disneyland’ kicked off their 70th Anniversary promotion, “Celebrate Happy” last Friday, following a multi-day international media event and a series of sneak previews for cast members and day guests who were lucky enough to be in the right park at the right time.
Here’s what debuted last Friday
Attractions
- Toy Story Midway Mania 70th anniversary overlay
- “it’s a small world” reopened with a new Coco character addition
- Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live show debuted at Disney California Adventure
Entertainment
- “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” at Disneyland featuring Duffy the Disney Bear and his friend ShellieMay
- “World of Color Happiness!” at Disney California Adventure, with a new Muppet pre-show
- Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade at Disney California Adventure.
- Paint the Night parade at Disneyland
- Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular to Disneyland
- Tapestry of Happiness projection show at Disneyland

Given that this celebration runs through Summer 2026, it should not be a surprise that there’s more to see and do that we can cover in one article. Fortunately, we’ve been sharing the highlights from the celebration all week on Instagram, X and Facebook. We also have three videos for you to enjoy on YouTube, with more to come.

As some have noted, a 70th anniversary isn’t really a huge solemn occasion, and I think Disney took the right tack in making this a bright and shiny birthday confection of a party. There’s enough nostalgia to keep the super fans happy, and plenty of new-to-you content to keep more casual visitors engaged. The return of Paint the Night parade would have been enough of a marketing hook for a summer promotion in most any other year; the rest of this is just icing on the birthday cake.

On the subject of fan service, I do want to make special note of the Magic Band activation points scattered around Disneyland for this anniversary. These little interactive moments are just sheer fun, and I enjoyed the hunt as we looked to find them all. Disney uses the term “surprise and delight” rather loosely at times, but this is one instance where they truly delivered something unique and unexpected.

The same is true of the Key to Disneyland souvenir, which has visitors running all over Disneyland looking for key portals. This concept is clever and fans really seemed engaged in unlocking all of the icons.
For me the biggest miss of the entire 70th anniversary package is the icon / photo backdrop in the Esplanade, and the perplexing choice of music for the park entrances. I shared my thoughts on our Instagram channel – let me know if you agree or if you think I’m overthinking this.

New anniversary perks for Disney Vacation Club members
Disney Vacation Club members who purchased their contracts through Disney and are eligible for Membership Extras have quite a few new perks to look forward to this summer. DVC has reserved viewing areas for some of the 70th anniversary entertainment, so check the dates and details below to see if these fall during your vacation dates.
Show and location | Dates and times |
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade Upper Patio of Golden Vine House at Disney California Adventure | Every Saturday between May 17 – August 30, 2025 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. |

Wondrous Journeys fireworks viewing on July 17 Club Star View Station in Disneyland | July 17, 2025 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. |
Advance registration is not required, but all events have a capacity limit, and the nighttime spectaculars require a wristband.
For Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration Parade, members and their guests must check in to Golden Vine House in Disney California Adventure , and will be escorted to the viewing area.
For the nighttime spectaculars, members and their guests must pick up a wristband, while supplies last, at the specified location between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the event date. For World of Color, pick up your wristbands at Golden Vine House in Disney California Adventure. For Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys, pick up your wristbands at the Disney Vacation Club Star View Station in Disneyland.
For all events, admission is available to the Member plus up to 4 Guests (for a total of 5), or the number of guests on the resort reservation (if applicable). Disney says, “In order to allow as many Members as possible to enjoy this event, only one event date per parade/nighttime show will be available to attend per Membership.”
Meet and Greet with Stacia Martin
DVC members also have five opportunities to meet Disney artist and historian Stacia Martin in July.
Event dates are July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Discovery Den at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. No advance registration is required.
Another change to the Disability Access Service

Disney has made another small but helpful change to the Disability Access Service, which rolled out to much criticism last year at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Annual pass holders and Magic Key holders who are eligible for the program can now use it for up to one year, which is great news for who complained about having to go through the process to renew the DAS before their pass expired. All other guests will be enrolled for the length of their ticket so they do not need to repeat the process during their visit.
This and That…
…At long last the construction walls are down in Adventureland and a new fountain was revealed last Friday.
…There are two Grad Nite events scheduled this week, on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Disney California Adventure will close at 9 p.m. each evening, and there will only be one performance of World of Color Happiness those nights.
…The dedicated entrance from the Grand California Hotel into Disney California Adventure has reopened.
…At press time, tickets were still on sale for both of the Disneyland After Dark – Pride Nite events in June. More event details on the Disneyland website.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Tickets, Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Disneyland Anniversary Ticket
Fans can visit Disneyland up to four times during the 70th anniversary for as little as $100 per day with the Disneyland Anniversary Ticket.
The tickets are valid for visits during the first months of the 70th anniversary celebration, May 16 through August 14, 2025. You can purchase 3-day park tickets for $360 per person, or 4-day park tickets for $400. Pricing is the same for all ages 3 and older. As always, you can add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades for an extra charge.
Even better, there is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission the day you buy it and wait until August to use the remaining admission days if you wish. However, you must make a theme park reservation for each day you wish to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day.
As with the prior offer, the terms state, “Reservation availability for these offer tickets is not guaranteed for any date and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches. To ensure best availability, make reservations early.” From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last weeks of this offer unless you plan well in advance.
Tickets available on the Disneyland website, or through MousePlanet’s travel partner Get Away Today. Book online at Get Away Today or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.
