It's Transformation Week, as the Holidays arrive Friday
The Holidays officially arrive Friday, as the Merriest Place on Earth debuts a new season of winter decor and entertainment.
This weekend, Disneyland bid farewell to both the Pixar Play Parade and the Jedi Training Academy show. Wednesday, November 7 is your last chance to catch the Paint the Night parade at Disney California Adventure. Disney has not announced future plans for any of these offerings.
Friday, November 9 is the first performance of A Christmas Fantasy Parade at Disneyland, with parades at 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. The night is capped with the first performance of the Believe… In Holiday Magic fireworks at 9:30 p.m.
The Festival of Holidays begins Friday at Disney California Adventure, with the Festive Foods Marketplace booths open for business. You can get a comprehensive look at the menus for each booth on the Disneyland web site.
The Disney Parks Blog also released a full list of holiday treats available at Disneyland and DCA, including 10 different flavored churros, over a dozen seasonal cookies, three takes on funnel cake fries, and enough specialty cocktails to keep everyone nice and jolly through New Years.
Share Your Ears and help raise $2 million for Make-A-Wish
It's time to Share Your Ears again, as Disney kicks off its third annual campaign benefiting Make-A-Wish. For the 2018 promotion, announced Sunday night during “Mickey’s 90th Spectacular” on ABC, Disney pledged a donation of up to $2 million to Make-A-Wish to help children with life-threatening illnesses. This donation doubles the amount pledged during the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.

Fans help generate donations each time they share a public photo of Mickey Mouse ears—or any “creative ears”—on social media sites Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using the hashtag #ShareYourEars. Disney will donate $5 per photo, up to $2 million.
Beginning Monday, November 5, both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort have themed photo walls where visitors can take photos for the promotion. The ships of the Disney Cruise Line will also offer a special backdrop.
Disney Stores around the country will offer visitors a place to decorate a pair of paper Mickey Mouse ears, then snap a picture in a special #ShareYourEars photo frame.

You don't need to stop by an official Disney photo spot to participate; any public share with the #ShareYourEars hashtag made on one of the three social media sites will qualify. The 2018 campaign runs through November 17, 2018. Learn more about the promotion at ShareYourEars.org.
Disney's partnership with Make-A-Wish dates back to 1980, when the company was part of the first official wish granted by the organization. Since then, Disney has helped grant over 130,000 wishes, with an additional 10,000 Disney wishes granted each year. Bob Chapek, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products, recently joined the Make-A-Wish America board of directors.

Disneyland releases remaining 2019 AP blockout calendars
Disneyland has released the remaining Annual Passholder blockout calendars for 2019, and now passholders know what to expect for November and December of 2019.
In June, the Disneyland Resort introduced park-specific blockout calendars for the annual passport program, with Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks having separate schedules of blockout dates. Under the new plan, there are days, weeks, and even months where some passholders can visit Disney California Adventure, but are blocked out from visiting Disneyland. This new blockout schedule applies to all Disneyland Resort annual passports that were purchased, renewed, or activated on or after June 2, 2018.
There are fewer changes for Holiday 2019 than we expected. For November 2019, SoCal Select passholders can visit Disneyland 14 days, down from 15 in 2018. However, they still have 15 days access to Disney California Adventure. In December, SoCal Select passholders get eight park-hopper days in 2019, up from six in 2018.
Southern California passholders lose one Disneyland day in November 2019 compared to 2018 (22 versus 23), and have the same access in December of each year. All of their admission days are park-hopper days.
The Deluxe pass has the same number of blockout dates for November and December 2019 compared to 2018, and all admission days are park-hopper days.
There are still no changes to the blockout dates for Signature or Signature Plus annual passports, which retain park hopper access on all days those passes are otherwise valid. The Signature pass did not see an increase in the holiday blockout period in 2019 as some had feared.
With the exception of a handful of DCA-only days, the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure blockout dates are pretty much identical as of September 2019. This seems to support the idea that the dual blockout calendars were intended to keep APs from packing Galaxy's Edge during the opening three months.

Time to make New Years Eve reservations
New Year's Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year at the Disneyland Resort, and dining reservations are essential if you want to enjoy anything more formal than a curbside corn dog while waiting for the midnight fireworks. Dinner reservations are already booked solid at the most popular locations, including the fancy celebration at the Napa Rose, but there are lots of great options for everything from a family dinner to a romantic evening for two.
For couples seeking a special setting, we recommend Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel, Carthay Circle restaurant inside Disney California Adventure, or Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney.
Buffet-style meals are good for groups and families with younger children—check out family-friendly options at Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, Storyteller's Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, and PCH Grill at the Paradise Pier Hotel. For in-park dining, Carnation Cafe, River Belle Terrace, and Wine Country Trattoria all had availability for parties up to six for New Year's Eve dinner.
If you'd prefer to have your big meal at lunch and save the evening for entertainment, your options open up a bit more. The popular Blue Bayou restaurant has tables open for lunch, as does the new Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure. This lets you nibble your way through the Festival of Holidays booths during the Countdown to Midnight.
The special Plaza Inn dining package that includes reserved viewing for A Christmas Fantasy Parade is sold out for New Year's Eve, but there were spots available as of press time for both Sunday, December 30, and Tuesday, New Year's Day. If you're just looking only to dine, the restaurant is walk-up friendly, but you should plan to dine before 4:00 or after 7:00 to avoid the largest crowds.
If you do find yourself opting for a counter service meal, be sure to use the handy mobile ordering feature to skip the line at the most popular locations.
This and That…
…Disney has installed a pair of Haystack full-body dryers across from Grizzly River Rapids. Named the Wilderness Warming Hut, these machines use a combination of heat lamps and air blowers to dry up to five people at a time. They cost $5 for a little over three minutes. One of the huts has a ramp making it wheelchair accessible.

…Salt & Straw ice cream shops announced their Thanksgiving Celebration flavors, and you can find three of the five creations at the new Downtown Disney location. The unique flavors include Roasted Peach and Sage Cornbread Stuffing; Spiced Goat Cheese and Pumpkin Pie; and Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey. Yes—turkey-flavored ice cream.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Annual Pass Monthly Payment Program
California residents can take advantage of the monthly payment plan when purchasing any but the Premier Annual Passport.

Southern California CityPASS
Southern California CityPASS ($353/$324) – includes a 3-Day Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Bonus Ticket (including one early-entry day), a one-day admission to Sea World San Diego, and a one-day admission to LEGOLAND California. The CityPASS expires 14 days after first use at any location, and the first use must occur by December 31, 2018. Purchase CityPASS through the Disneyland website or on-site at the ticket booths of Disneyland Resort or the other theme parks included in the pass. You can also purchase directly from the CityPASS website, though a shipping charge may apply depending on how quickly you need the ticket.
When you purchase the CityPASS, you have the option of adding a one-day admission to either San Diego Zoo or San Diego Safari Park for an extra $44/$36. This upgraded pass is only available for purchase directly from the CityPASS website.
You can also upgrade your CityPASS to add more days at participating locations:
- Add a second day at LEGOLAND for $25. Purchase this upgrade at LEGOLAND on the day you use your CityPASS.
- Add LEGOLAND Water Park for $30 for ages 3+ ($5 for ages 2 and under). Purchase this upgrade at LEGOLAND on the day you use your CityPASS.
- Upgrade your Disneyland ticket to another ticket or annual passport of equal or greater value. For the current Southern California CityPASS, a credit of $330 for ages 10+ ($314 for ages 3-9) will be applied toward another ticket of equal or greater value. Purchase the upgrade at Disneyland before the end of your third visit.

Purchase with Purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced–price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase. These are offered at Disney-operated stores only, and selection may vary by location.

Disneyland tickets may be used through December 19, 2018. There are no remaining blockout dates for 2018.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 19, 2018.
Hotel discounts
This offer is valid most nights from January 1 through December 19, 2018. There are no further blockout dates in 2018.
Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (714) 520-7088 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30-40% off, based on room category.
Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
Photopass Discount
Eligible service members can purchase the Photopass Collection for $49 plus tax through December 19, 2018. The package includes digital downloads of all PhotoPass photos in the user's account when they redeem the voucher; a voucher for a dining print package, and a Disneyland photo disc with 350 stock photos from around the Disneyland Resort.

Here are some other details you should know about regarding the offers:
- Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets ONLY by Eligible Service Members (defined below) or their spouses (but not both), for use by themselves and other family members and friends, as provided herein. These Tickets may not be otherwise transferred, distributed or resold.
- Eligible Service Members are active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
- The actual prices charged at the individual U.S. military base ticket offices for Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be less than the prices set forth above.
- Participating military sales outlets must require that Eligible Service Members (or their spouses) present valid military identification to purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets.
- Disney 3-Day or 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Disneyland Resort expire and may not be used after December 19, 2018. Valid military identification will be required for purchase and use.
- No more than six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased and (if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse (regardless of the place of purchase and whether purchased by that person or that person’s spouse). In addition, one of the six (6) Tickets purchased must be used by the Eligible Service Member or his/her spouse.
- Each Disney Military Promotional Ticket must be used by the same person on any and all days.
- The Photopass Collection can be purchased only in person at Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure, or at Main Street Photo Supply in Disneyland.

Costco Travel Packages – many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco.
Disney's Resort Magic and Good Neighbor Magic Packages – These package includes accommodations in one of the three resort hotels or at one of 40 Good Neighbor hotels, along with theme park admission. The packages also come with a variety of extra inclusions and bonuses, usually a souvenir pin and lanyard, and discount coupons for various Downtown Disney merchants.
