Disneyland Resort Announces Limited-Time Kids' Ticket Offer
A new offer starting January 8, 2024, lets children ages 3 to 9 visit Disneyland or Disney California Adventure for as low as $50 per day.

The Kids’ Special Offer Ticket goes on sale starting October 24, and is valid for visits between January 8 and March 10, 2024. You can purchase 1-, 2- or 3-day park tickets, and add on optional park hopping and Disney Genie+ upgrades. In comparison, the current price for 1-day, 1-park child ticket can range from $98 for a “Tier 0,” to $169 for “Tier 6.” Disney hasn't released full pricing details for this offer yet, but we'll update this information here as soon they're available.
The offer, announced last week, is a much shorter duration than the usual winter discount for Southern California discounts, which usually runs into May. However, the dates will definitely cover the popular Lunar New Year celebration, and may just include the first weekend of the Food and Wine Festival.
Read the fine print carefully, because you need to make a theme park reservation to use this ticket, and Disney is only setting aside a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day. The advertising clearly states, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”

To make reservations easier to plan, Disney will extend its booking window later this month so that you can book theme park reservations up to 180 days in advance instead of the current 120 day window. This will let you make all of the reservations for this special offer as soon as you purchase your tickets, and also see which days are “Tier 0” days, where adult tickets are only $104.
In addition to requiring a theme park reservation, this ticket also has a “fuse”—which means multi-day tickets expire 13 days after the first day of use (or on March 10, 2024, whichever comes first). You won't need to use all two or three days consecutively, but you will need to make sure to use them all before they expire. From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last week of this offer unless you plan well in advance.

Disney's announcement comes as part of a longer Disney Parks Blog article detailing ways to save on Disneyland Resort visits, and it's really clear the company is addressing a widely held perception that the parks are just too expensive for families to visit. Official tips include staying at off-site hotels “that may work better with your budget,” avoiding parking fees by taking public transportation to the parks, and even reminders to pack your own water and snacks.
As far as souvenirs, Disney reminds you that digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass attraction photos are free.
If you have already booked your winter 2024 vacation package, call your travel agent to see how you can apply this new discount to your vacation.
If you haven't yet booked your travel, we always recommend you contact MousePlanet's travel partner Get Away Today and let them find the best deal for you. Visit Get Away Today or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.

runDisney returns
The popular runDisney series returns to the Disneyland Resort in January with the 2024 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. The events are already sold out, so we're not here to offer tips on how to score a race bib, but if you're already registered for the event we have news you can use.
For the first time in forever, runners who booked hotel rooms at one of the Good Neighbor Hotels along Harbor Boulevard will have an advantage when it comes to getting to the start line. Disney last week published the start and finish lines for each of the races, and most of them start and finish on Disney Way, likely at the rarely used Pumbaa parking lot. It will be some time before Disney releases the full course maps, but this is already enough information that people are making and changing their hotel reservations to be closer to the corrals.
Most of the races for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend will start and end on Disney Way east of Harbor. Photo courtesy Disney.
Those staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels are facing a longer-than-usual walk to the start line each morning, and again back to their hotel rooms after the races.
The change also poses new parking calculations for those driving to the race. Those who park in the Mickey and Friends or Pixar Pals parking structures will also face a long walk to and from the start line. The 5,300-space Toy Story parking lot is closest to Disney Way, but we wonder if it will be large enough for an event that draws more than 13,000 runners.

Since runners need to check in at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at least one day before their race to collect their race bib, it's helpful to know when the expo will be open. The official hours are:
- Thursday, January 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. PT
- Friday, January 12, from noon to 8:00 p.m. PT
- Saturday, January 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT
runDisney also released images of most of the medals you can earn for completing the various races, and it's a gut punch to those of us who weren't able to register in time. Of course, if you can't live without these medals, and you're willing to pay the same price to run around your own neighborhood instead of the streets of Anaheim, you can register for the Virtual Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend races. If tradition holds, the medals for the virtual race are identical to the ones for the in-person race, though the ribbon will be different.

Magic Key Extras Unlocked
Disney has announced something called Magic Key Extras Unlocked, which as far as we can tell is just new branding applied to the special offerings periodically available to Magic Key members. It may also be Disney's attempt present all of the offers in one place, so Magic Key holders don't need to follow the Instagram page and the Facebook page to keep track of what is available where and when.
You can look at these extras by going to the Magic Key portal on the Disneyland app, and choosing Extras Unlocked. There, you can scroll down to the Limited Time offers, Goodies (“things you can buy”), and Behind the Scenes, which at the moment is a video promoting Magic Bands.
Among the Limited Time offers are Halloween-themed PhotoPass Magic Shots in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, with a “festive” offering soon to be released.
Included in Disney's announcement—but strangely not yet listed on the Extras Unlocked sites—are the following two upcoming offers for Magic Key holders:
- A complimentary holiday tote bag available in November.
- A new Magic Key popcorn bucket with $1.75 refills available in January 2024.
Holiday preview
Speaking of needing to follow a bunch of social media accounts, the Disney Eats Instagram account this week shared photos of some holiday treats to be offered in November. Included in the collection is a Mickey Mouse Toy Soldier Popcorn Bucket and a Dancing Reindeer sipper, both commemorating A Christmas Fantasy Parade. Additional souvenirs include a glowing swizzle stick with a Mickey-shaped jingle bell and a holiday Kermit straw clip.
The “sharable” loaded torta sandwich to be released as part of Viva Navidad looks like it could give the Holiday sandwich at Earl of Sandwich a run for its money.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Current Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 11, 2022.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

SoCal Resident Ticket Offer
The California Resident Ticket is a 3-day, 1-park-per-day ticket that offers residents of California admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure:
- The weekday ticket – starting at $249, three weekdays (Mondays through Thursdays only) between June 12 and September 28, 2023
- The any day ticket – starting at $299, three days (any day of the week, including weekends) between June 12 and September 28, 2023
You can use every day of the California resident ticket at the same theme park, or visit different parks on different days, but you can't use it to enter both parks on the same day.
The weekday ticket is $249 for ages 3 and up, is valid only Mondays through Thursday, and doesn't include weekends. The any day ticket costs $45 more, starts at $299 for ages 3 and up, but adds Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to your list of days.
For an additional $60, you can also upgrade the ticket to a park-hopper, which allows entry to both parks each day.
You can also add the paid Disney Genie+ service to your California resident ticket. Although you can upgrade all three days in advance for $20 per day (for a total of $60 for the three days), our recommendation is to pay for the service on the first day, after you enter the theme park. This will let you make sure the service provides a value for you, to decide whether you want to spend the extra money for your remaining days.
Tickets are available through the Disneyland website, or through MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
There is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means that you can use the first admission on June 12 and wait until September 28 to use the remaining admission. However, remember that you must make a theme park reservation for each day that you want to use the ticket. Disney also warns that ticket sales may be paused or ended at any time, so it's probably best to purchase early so you're ready to make reservations as soon as they open for your desired travel dates.
Tickets expire on September 28, 2023, and have no holiday blackouts. That means that you can visit on the 4th of July holiday using a weekday ticket, assuming reservations are available.
Disney states that proof of residency is required for purchase and admission, and each resident can purchase up to five tickets per day.
Four Day Tickets
- Four-Day, One-Park per Day Ticket – regularly $395/$370
- Four-Day Park Hopper – regularly $455/$430
- Disney Genie+ Add-On – $25 per day, per ticket
- Advance purchase Four-Day tickets – check for current discounts and promotions from Get Away Today.
Five Day Tickets
- Five-Day, One-Park per Day Ticket – Regularly $415/$390
- Five-Day Park Hopper – Regularly $475/$450
- Disney Genie+ Add-On – $25 per day, per ticket
- Advance purchase Five-Day tickets – check for current discounts and promotions from Get Away Today.
Six Day (or more) Tickets
