Dapper Days at Disneyland this weekend
The Dapper Day Fall Outing to Disneyland takes place this Sunday, November 3. This popular event grows larger each year, so it's worth taking note if you plan to visit the park during this weekend. While the scheduled gatherings all take place on Sunday, the Dapper Days Expo runs Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7:00 p.m., and you're likely to encounter well-dressed visitors both days.
Tickets to the Dapper Day Expo include admission on both days. Children under 12 are free. You can purchase at the door for $14, or $12.50 when you buy online by November 1. If you want to be among the first to shop the Expo-exclusive items, an Expo Pass with Early Bird entry for Saturday is offered at $22.
On Saturday, The Leftover Cuties perform live at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Rhythm Shakers perform live at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. Arrive early and take part in a free dance lesson before each set.
The Dapper Day Expo features these three workshops on Saturday, November 2:
- Noon – Charles Phoenix presents a retro slide show
- 1:00 to 2:00 – A booksigning with Charles Phoenix for his book Holiday Jubilee to follow, inside the Expo.
- 3:00 – Dapper Day founder Justin J. will lead a panel discussion on Style as Empowerment.
- 4:30 – Film critic and TCM host Alicia Malone will present “Backwards and in Heels,” a history of women in film.
All workshops (except the booksigning) are in the Disneyland Hotel conference center on level two. Admission is first-come, first-served, and an Expo ticket doesn't guarantee a seat.

It's time to make Christmas dinner reservations
If you're planning to spend Christmas Eve or Day at the Disneyland Resort, now's the time to call and make reservations for your holiday feast. Christmas Dinner at Napa Rose is already sold out, but there are still plenty of options for your family gathering at three buffet-style restaurants at the Disneyland Resort hotels.
Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel serves Christmas Eve breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to noon, and dinner from 5:00 to 8:45 p.m. On Christmas Day, brunch is served from 7:00 a.m.1:25 p.m., and dinner from 1:30 to 9:00 p.m. Disney characters appear during all three meals.
Storyteller's Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The restaurant is open 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. both days, with a break from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve only. Disney characters appear during breakfast and brunch, and this is the only character meal to include Mickey Mouse.
PCH Grill at the Paradise Pier Hotel serves Christmas Eve breakfast from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m., and dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. On Christmas Day, breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. to 11:25 p.m.; brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and dinner from 2:05 to 9:00 p.m. Disney characters appear during breakfast and brunch.
None of the theme park restaurants have said they would have special menus for Christmas, but there may be some holiday additions announced closer to the date. If you're happy with the menu as-is, it's a great time to make reservations.
Disneyland's Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans had limited availability as of press time, and the popular Blue Bayou restaurant was booked. However, it's always worth checking back for availability.
The special Plaza Inn dining package that includes reserved viewing for A Christmas Fantasy Parade is already sold out for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Not to worry; the restaurant is walk-up friendly, but you should plan to dine before 4:00 or after 7:00 to avoid the largest crowds.
If you're spending Christmas Eve or Day in Disney California Adventure, consider making lunch your sit-down meal, and nibble your way through the Festival of Holidays booths during dinnertime. The Carthay Circle Restaurant, Wine Country Trattoria, and Lamplight Lounge all had lunch reservations as of press time, but most dinner spots were booked.
Whatever you choose, book soon! Otherwise, you can always use the handy mobile ordering feature to skip the line when you pick up a blue plate special from Flo's V8 Cafe.
Halloween Time and Dia de los Muertos
The snow blankets on Sleeping Beauty Castle mean that Holiday Time is just around the corner, but not before Disneyland wraps up Halloween Time with a Dia de los Muertos focus.
In Disneyland, Zocalo Park is decorated for Dia de los Muertos through November 3, with a traditional display of calacas (skeletons), floral arrangements, and papel picado banners. Children can get a free calaveras (skull) design painted on face or arms. Check out the seasonal menu at Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante.
At Disney California Adventure, the Plaza de Familia runs through November 3, offering live mariachi music, A Musical Celebration of Coco performance and traditional decorations. Paradise Garden Grill also has a festival-inspired menu for the event.
The final showing of Disneyland's Halloween Screams fireworks is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Halloween night. Mickey's Mix Magic with fireworks will return to Main Street U.S.A. Friday – Sunday, November 1-3, before the Believe… in Holiday Magic show starts on Friday, November 8.
Fuel Rod ends free swaps
If you are a fan of the Fuel Rod portable charging system, get ready to pay for the service when visiting a Disney theme park. Starting Friday, November 1, customers will pay a $3 fee to swap their FuelRod charger at Disneyland Resort kiosks, and the news has angered quite a few former fans of the service.
Disney sells Fuel Rod charging kits for $30 from kiosks located throughout the Resort, each containing a rechargeable USB battery rod and an assortment of charging cables to fit most Apple and Android devices. Fuel Rod sells the device for $25 (including shipping) from their website, and other locations sell the kits for as low as $22.
Until now, once you purchased the device you could return to any Fuel Rod kiosk on Disney property and exchange a depleted charger for a fresh battery as often as you needed, at no additional charge. This “free unlimited swapping” feature ends on November 1, and users will pay a fee each time they swap the device.
Disney is not the first Fuel Rod partner to begin charging for swaps—both Sea World and Universal Studios have $3.00 exchange fees. But customers who purchased the $30 device at a Disney property based on the promise of free unlimited swapping are understandably upset that the terms of the deal have changed. Via their social media channels, Fuel Rod says they were forced to impose a swap fee at some locations due to high usage, but also says the individual sites set their own prices.
Fuel Rod offers users some number of free and/or discounted swaps after they download the free Fuel Rod app and register an account, but has also directed dissatisfied customers to contact them directly at 1-844-FuelRod to see if they qualify for a refund.

…Naples Ristorante at Downtown Disney is celebrating National Pizza Month by offering a free pizza party to one winner and up to seven guests. Visit the contest website to enter now through November 3. The winner will be selected on November 4.
…Downtown Disney's Tortilla Jo's will host a Dia de los Muertos weekend, featuring live entertainment and activities for the family on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant will offer food and drink specials from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31 to Sunday, November 3. Food and drink specials are available from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. throughout the weekend.
On Saturday, November 2 – Tortilla Jo's will host a Kids Celebration from Noon- 4:00 p.m., with kids crafts and face painting. Stop by between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. to catch a live performance by the Grammy-award winning Mariachi Divas. Adults can enjoy tequila tasting from Noon to 8:00 p.m.
…The temporary food service trailer that will house Asian Street Eats was delivered to Downtown Disney over the weekend. The new venue is located in front of the shuttered Rainforest Cafe location. No word on when the new eatery, headed by Top Chef season 3 winner Chef Hung Hyunh, will open.
…Disney has filed for permits that indicate the Disneyland portions of the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Celebration will be taped between November 10–15, with filming locations to be set up around “it's a small world” and in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. We have no additional information about the taping. It looks like there are also special parade performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10 involving various dance and cheer groups. However, these are not usually part of the Disney Parks production, and take place before the regular performance of A Christmas Fantasy Parade each day.

- AMC Theaters – building remains closed.
- ESPN Zone – permits filed to begin renovation, but details are not available.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it's best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don't get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Everyone
Purchase with purchase offers – Disneyland Resort shops frequently offer a reduced-price souvenir (often a tote bag, watch, or blanket) with a qualifying minimum purchase. These are offered at Disney-operated stores only, and selection may vary by location.
Disney usually allows customers to purchase more than one of the offers in a qualifying transaction, so if you spend $40 or more you can buy both items currently available if you wish. If you're a passholder, the minimum purchase is calculated after your discount, and your discount does not apply to the promotional item.
Character dining vouchers – Disneyland is no longer offering tickets or vouchers to be pre-purchased for Character Dining. You may still make reservations 60 days in advance with payment due at the restaurant.

Through December 18, 2019, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:
- Disney Military Promotional 3-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $178 each (an increase of $10 from the 2018 offer)
- Disney Military Promotional 4-Day Park Hopper Tickets for $198 each (an increase of $10 from the 2018 offer)
Disneyland tickets may be used through December 18, 2019, excluding the spring break blockout of April 14–22, 2019.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 18, 2019.
2020 Ticket discounts
From November 5, 2019 through December 18, 2020, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:

Military discounts are valid for stays most nights from January 1 through December 19, 2020. You can book now through December 19, 2020, and travel must be completed by December 20, 2020.
Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (714) 520-7088 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category.
Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
Photopass Discount
Eligible service members can purchase the Photopass Collection for $49 plus tax through December 21, 2019. The package includes digital downloads of all PhotoPass photos in the user's account when they redeem the voucher; a voucher for a dining print package, and a Disneyland photo disc with 350 stock photos from around the Disneyland Resort.

Here are some other details you should know about regarding the offers:
- Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased at participating U.S. military sales outlets ONLY by Eligible Service Members (defined below) or their spouses (but not both), for use by themselves and other family members and friends, as provided herein. These Tickets may not be otherwise transferred, distributed or resold.
- Eligible Service Members are active or retired members of the U.S. military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
- The actual prices charged at the individual U.S. military base ticket offices for Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be less than the prices set forth above.
- Participating military sales outlets must require that Eligible Service Members (or their spouses) present valid military identification to purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets.
- Disney 3-Day or 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Disneyland Resort expire and may not be used after December 18, 2020. Valid military identification will be required for purchase and use.
- No more than six (6) Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased and (if applicable) activated by any Eligible Service Member or spouse (regardless of the place of purchase and whether purchased by that person or that person’s spouse). In addition, one of the six (6) tickets purchased must be used by the Eligible Service Member or his/her spouse.
- Each Disney Military Promotional Ticket must be used by the same person on any and all days.
- The Photopass Collection can be purchased only in person at Kingswell Camera Shop in Disney California Adventure, or at Main Street Photo Supply in Disneyland.

Costco Travel Packages – many different travel packages including visits to Disneyland and Disneyland hotels are available through Costco.
Disney's Resort Magic and Good Neighbor Magic Packages – these package includes accommodations in one of the three resort hotels or at one of 40 Good Neighbor hotels, along with theme park admission. The packages also come with a variety of extra inclusions and bonuses, usually a souvenir pin and lanyard, and discount coupons for various Downtown Disney merchants.
