Featured Topic – Disneyland Top 3
In this week’s feature, Mike and Mark discuss their Top 3 attractions, dining
locations and live entertainment at Disneyland Park.
Top 3 dining locations
As always, we started with dining. Mike’s number three choice is the Tiki
Juice Bar in Adventureland. He likes it because it’s connected to the
waiting area for the Enchanted Tiki Room, and because it’s the place for Dole
Whips.
For his number three, Mark opted for the Blue
Ribbon Bakery. He likes it for breakfast on the way into the park, or
he’ll sometimes grab something on the way out of the park in the evening to
eat for breakfast in the room the next morning.
Mike’s runner up is the Carnation Cafe.
He likes the fact that it’s a sit-down restaurant, and he’s got some good
memories of eating there.
Mark’s second choice is Bengal Barbecue.
He first ate there on his last trip, and he can’t get enough of it. He even
ate there twice on the same day.
Mike’s favorite is Blue Bayou. He loves
the food, the atmosphere, the mint juleps, and everything else about it.
Despite his own love for the Monte Crisco . er . Cristo sandwich, Mark’s
top spot went to the River Belle Terrace.
Mickey pancakes while people-watching along the shores of the Rivers of America
in the morning and staking a patio spot with a ribs-and-chicken combo in the
evening. What’s not to like?
Top 3 live entertainment options
Mark’s number three entertainment choice is Billy
Hill and the Hillbillies, because it’s a fun show, and they’re actually
musically talented. The acoustic version of “Classical Gas” is just
amazing.
Mike’s third choice is the Parade of Dreams.
He enjoys the energy, but can’t really explain why he likes the parade so
much.
Mark and Mike agreed on their number two pick with Fantasmic.
It could very easily have been a number one pick, but we’ll take the alternative.
Mark referred to it as “everything that a nighttime spectacular should
be.”
Mark and Mike also agreed on their top pick, Remember…
Dreams Come True. This is everything the best fireworks show should be.
Top 3 attractions
Mike picked the Indiana Jones Adventure
as his number three choice. He liked it a whole lot better before the ripped
out the actual animation portion of the attraction.
Mark’s third pick is the new Space Mountain.
The smoothness of the ride, the soundtrack and the the special effects are
just great. He wishes that the re-do would be done at the Walt Disney World
version.
Mike’s second choice is Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
He has lots of great memories at that attracion at Walt Disney World, and
he really misses it there.
Mark went with the Haunted Mansion as his
number two. It’s a great attraction with .
Mike’s number one is the Enchanted Tiki Room.
Again, something that isn’t at Disneyland and more gets lost and more requested.
Mark’s top pick is the full, original Pirates
of the Caribbean.
Mike and Mark got into a discussion of the cleverness of how everything was
designed at Disneyland.

your favorites are!
Don’t forget that we’re holding a contest to encourage you to donate to Broadway
Care/Equity Fights AIDS. Everyone that donates to the cause through Mike’s
donor page will receive an entry into the random drawing for an “Anything
Can Happen” bookmark signed by Nicole Bocchi and Henry Hodges, who played
Jane and Michael Banks the night that Mike saw the show. The bookmark includes
a nickel-sized star that was part of a costume worn in the show during the
grand finale. The bookmark says “Mary Poppins, Broadway 2007.” This phase
of the fundraising campaign runs through December 4, so you’ve got until then
to donate. It doesn’t matter how much you give. Any donation
will get you entered into the contest. You can see the bookmark in question
in the show notes for Episode
93.
