Feature: Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World: Ride by Ride, Listener Picks

Mark and Mike let the listeners have their say in comparing those rides that exist in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World to decide which version of each they like best.

Here's what you had to say:

bumblebeeonarose wrote on the show notes comments thread that she couldn't understand why Mike didn't think the Indiana Jones Adventure queue wasn't good, and she didn't think much of the Dinosaur queue. She also thinks that Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World feels more like a thrill ride.

princessy777 wrote on the show notes comments thread that she didn't like the Walt Disney World version of Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean.

Wesley in Vermont sent an email with a number of comparisons. He prefers the Disneyland version of Splash Mountain, Captain EO, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. He didn't prefer the Walt Disney World version of any attraction.

Joey in Tucson called in to say that he hasn't been to Walt Disney World, though he hopes to go at some time in the future. What Mike and Mark have said pretty well matches up from what he's heard from his relatives who have been to both. He shared the dislike for the Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management based on YouTube videos, and is glad that Zazu and Iago have been evicted. Joey also doesn't like the single-file seating of Splash Mountain.

IllusionOfLife wrote on the show notes comments thread for part 1 that they prefer the Disneyland versions of Enchanted Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones Adventure, Treehouses, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Fantasmic. The Walt Disney World versions of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Haunted Mansion beat their California cousins.

Shane Clarke commented via that we missed Epcot in the fireworks category, and noted that Illuminations should beat out Disneyland Park's fireworks. Mark noted that it's not really a one-to-one comparison. We compared both Magic Kingdom-style parks for fireworks, but Illuminations and World of Color really don't have analogs on the opposite coasts, so we didn't include them.

IllusionOfLife wrote on the show notes comments thread for part 2 that they prefer the Disneyland editions of (Sleeping Beauty) Castle, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, (King Arthur) Carrousel, Peter Pan's Flight, Mad Tea Party, “it's a small world”, Autopia, Innoventions, Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, and the nighttime fireworks. The Walt Disney World versions of the monorail, Astro Orbitor, and Star Tours beat their California cousins. They also suggested that we could have compared the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage to the entry ride to The Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion. Mike and Mark agree, and also agree with IllusionOfLife that the submarine voyage would easily win that one, even though they haven't be on it yet.

redchicken wrote on the show notes comments thread for part 3 that they think that we could have compared California Screamin' to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. He would have picked Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Mark prefers California Screamin' and Mike likes Rock 'n' Roller Coaster better.

IllusionOfLife also participated on the show notes comments thread for part 3. They prefer the Disneyland's take on Disney Animation, Turtle Talk with Crush, Monsters Inc. (Sully & Mike to the Rescue), Toy Story Midway Mania, Games of the Boardwalk, wild mouse coaster (Mulholland Madness/Goofy's Sky School), play area (Redwood Creek Challenge Trail), and Soarin' Over California. Walt Disney World's versions of MuppetVision 3-D and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, won out.

Listen to the show to find out why they picked what they did! Also, if you haven't weighed in yet on this topic, please send us feedback on your picks for ALL Disneyland vs. Walt Disney World attractions! We still want to hear from you!

Let us know what you think!

Since the show was running long, we had to cut a Magical Moment and some Listener Feedback, which we'll bring you next time.

We'd also like to thank Shawn Rees (a.k.a. Dis_Pod_Review) for a wonderfully complimentary review of our show on WDW Fan Zone.
