Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes via email from John Papas, who talks about how he determines whether the Tables in Wonderland or Disney Dining Plan will provide a bigger savings for his family. Mark added his opinion on how he calculates which was his familiy would saves more money.

Feature: Disney’s Next Generation Initiatives

Mark and Mike discussed what Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs revealed about Disney’s Next Generation initiatives and an investor conference a couple of weeks ago.

Topics included:

  • being able to get Fastpasses for attractions and character interactions from home
  • being able to secure seats at shows from home
  • other stuff available now, such as reserving dining reservations & other experiences from home
  • getting your room key before you leave home
  • other magic involving the use of RFID-enabled wristbands, including:
    • having characters greet you by name based on information on your wristband
    • opening your room door with your wristband
    • making dining and merchandise transactions by waving your wristband
  • other customized experiences

They also discussed concerns about privacy issues if personal info is on the RFID chip. There was also speculation about whether it was possible that Disney could introduce tiered benefits based upon spending amount.

There was further discussion about the just-announced addition of the ability to get a Fastpass to meet Mickey Mouse when his new meet-and-greet opens in the Town Square Theater later this spring.

Let us know what you think!

March of Dimes

MousePlanet readers and MouseStation listeners have helped Mark to raise nearly $19,000 for the March of Dimes over the last five years to help save the lives of babies born prematurely. This year, his goal is to raise another $5,000. But that’s not all! This year, you can walk with Mark, either in person or virtually, by joining Team MousePlanet! Mike has already signed on to walk as well. You can go to Mark’s fundraising page to sponsor him, Mike’s fundraising page to sponsor him, or the Team MousePlanet page to join in and walk yourself! If you join us in walking, the money you raise will go to help babies in your area! Help us to provide a better chance to prevent prematurity and to help those babies that are born prematurely, because new parents should take their babies home from the hospital, not to the cemetery.
