In the Walt Disney World news, sponsored by Small World Vacations, MousePlanet’s preferred travel provider, most of the news came from this past Monday’s Walt Disney World Park Update, and links to the various information reported can be found there. Here are some quick links:
- New information calls the Downtown Disney abduction story into question. UPDATE: The victims are now declining their intention to prosecute the abductors if they are caught, and are refusing to cooperate with authorities’ requests for them to describe facial features for composite sketches or take a voice stress analysis lie detector test.
- Paperwork filed with Orange County suggests that the Disney-MGM Studios could become the Pixar Studios
In the Disneyland news, all of the news came from this past Monday’s Disneyland Park Update. Here are some direct links to information from some of the stories:
- Frank Anzalone’s Nemo desktop photos
- “Cruzin’ Disney’s California Adventure Park” MousePad thread
In The Walt Disney Company news, several stories have related links.
- The Lion King stage show opened in South Africa.
- Disney has teamed up with Yash Raj Films to create computer-animated feature films in India.
- It took being sold by Disney for the Anaheim Ducks to win the Stanley Cup.
- ESPN is getting into cricket.
- Mary Poppins only managed to win one of the seven Tony Awards for which it was nominated.
- Disney and Citadel released information related to the closing price of the ABC Radio Holdings deal. UPDATE: Yesterday, the two sides announced the completion of the deal.
- After a “do-over” because the final challenge stumped all 21 finalists, Alena Zvereva of Russia emerged as the winner of the Volvo contest tying in with the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
- The new Google Calendar gallery lets you add the DisneyLiNK theme park calendar to your own Google calendar.
- Disney signed a first-look deal with POW
Entertainment and its head Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, The Incredible
Hulk, the X-Men and other Marvel superheroes. - Mike feels that the Xbox 360 version of the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End video game is OK, but not great. For a look at the graphics on the Xbox version of the game, take a look at the screenshots of Elizabeth and Davy Jones’ crew, Captain Jack Sparrow in Port Royal and a swordfight between Captain Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones.

Our Tip of the Week this week came from Tony Dmytriw, who recommended the Congress Park section of the Saratoga Springs Resort as a great location for making the best use of the Disney bus transportation system.
Pre-feature: Toy Story Mania
Disney Senior Creative Executive Tom Fitzgerald gave an overview of the new attraction at the What’s New/What’s Next presentation.
Featured topic: Grand opening of the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Steven Ng narrated the segment, with interviews and other audio collected by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.
Adrienne interviewed Eric Jacobson, Senior Vice President of Creative Development at Walt Disney Imagineering, as well as Imagineering Vice President of Creative Development Tony Baxter.
MouseStation favorites The Abominables were the first people in line to ride the attraction after its official opening.
Daniel Lew (to whom Mike and Mark apologize profusely for calling him Kenneth) provided a comparison between the Nemo Subs at Disneyland and The Seas With Nemo and Friends at Walt Disney World.
We also had a pair of voicemails from Ricky Ruiz of The Big Slicks before and after he rode the attraction during previews.
In addition to Frank Anzalone’s Nemo desktop photos that we published on Monday, we’re also publishing today a photo gallery of Frank’s and Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix’s photos from the event.
If you’ve been on the attraction and want to let us know what you think, call our toll-free feedback line (1-866-939-2278) or send us email to tell us what you think.
This week’s Featured Attraction is Casey Jr. Circus Train in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park. Mike & Mark both enjoy the attraction, as it’s a fun way to relax a little in Fantasyland.
This week’s Review system spotlight focuses on the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World. Mike & Mark both recommend it. MousePlanet readers seem to love the Lodge, as it was rated 4.5 out of five planets on the strength of 23 reviews, and is the second-highest rated Walt Disney World resort. You can also find the Wilderness Lodge in our Park Guide.
In this week’s Ask the Kid segment, listener Kate and her son Aidan asked Mark’s 8-year-old son: “What is your favorite Walt Disney World restaurant and why?” Mark’s son apparently prefers entertainment over cuisine, as three of his four selections were on the basis of the entertainment during the meal.
This week’s Magical Moment came from Marcus Womble. Marcus’ Magical Moments came from all of the magic that he made as a member of the Walt Disney World College Program.
In Listener Feedback:
- Steve Russo tried a scenario-based “Stump the Hosts” question this week, but failed to stump either Mike or Mark.
- Dave in San Francisco weighed in with a positive review of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, giving special praise to the soundtrack and the ending of the film.
- Marcie Reeter called in to our voicemail, telling us about her family’s experiences along the Pirates red carpet after they spoke with Steven Ng, as well as telling us about their experience on the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, ending with a special hello from Brody. (Hi Brody!)
- Bonnie Tyler from San Diego and Mary both weighed in on our plan to cut the podcast into multiple, shorter shows.
- Kim Barron called in three more voicemails, wrapping up the end of her magical Star Wars Weekends trip.
- Kelly Z. and Mr. Abominable both correctly identified Mark in the front page photo from the day that the podcast went live.
- Kyle wrote in with questions about planning a honeymoon trip. Mark called
in the cavalry, in the person of Sue Pisaturo of Small
World Vacations, MousePlanet’s preferred Disney travel provider. In
addition to advice, Sue provided links to the MouseWeddings
page specifically about honeymoons at Walt Disney World, a
list of dining locations included on the Disney Dining Plan and a link
explaining what
is included in each of the Magic Your Way packages. - Stanton Wong wrote in with some suggestions on the podcast and a list of trivia questions (Disneyland-centric) that we’ll discuss on a future show.
- Jen asked if we could share a review from one of the moderately priced resorts. (We already covered the Port Orleans Resort in Episode 13. We’ll do Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach on future shows.)
We’re looking at cutting the podcast into multiple, smaller shows each week in order to make it accessible to those who may not be able to listen to 90-minute or so shows. We’re looking to break MouseStation into either two 45-minute shows or three 30-minute shows. (Time are approximate, of course, as we have no idea how long we’re going to ramble on any given topic.) Anyway, we’d like your feedback on what you think of the idea, and whether you agree with our idea of breaking the show into a featured topic show, a mini-feature segments show and a listener feedback show, all published on different days each week. (The MousePlanetWatch news would continue as a separate show on yet another day of the week.) We haven’t made a final decision yet, so let us know what you think!
Send in your suggestions, comments or tips via our email form or via voicemail on our toll-free feedback line (1-866-939-2278). You can also make suggestions by replying to this post.
If you want to contribute a story for our Magical Moment segment (and possible inclusion in the Cast Place column here on MousePlanet), you can either use our email form or the toll-free feedback line. (We like when you use the voice mail system, because then we can play it on the show.)
You can get your MousePlanet (or MouseStation) swag from the new MousePlanet CafePress store.
Thanks to our West Coast correspondent Andrew Rich, and audio engineer and sound editor Steven Ng. Special thanks to Eveloper.com for providing bandwidth to support the production of the feature segment.
Show notes will continue to be posted in this forum. You can subscribe to MouseStation from the podcast’s page on the main site, or via your favorite podcast aggregator.
Thanks for listening!
