Listener Feedback Friday!

In this week’s Listener Feedback:

First, Mark and Mike chatted a bit about some MouseFest thoughts, since it’s
less than a week away.

Madeline of Germany wrote in to tell us about about the response that she
receives when she wears her Princess-themed shirts at Walt Disney World.

Mark and Mike then talked about things that they’ve worn to Walt Disney
World that have attracted a lot of attention.

Mike Hamilton from the Disney Podcast Directory wrote in to laugh about
our appearance on the MouseGuest Weekly Podcast last week. (We appeared
on Mouse Guest Weekly’s Show #121 to talk about our MouseFest meets. You
can check it out on the show
archives page
or go straight to downloading
the show
.) While talking about MousssseFest, we got into a discussion
of how there was a character named Chocolate Mousse in a spy spoof that
starred Val Kilmer. Mike was shouting at the podcast until we came up with
Top Secret!

Mike Demo then finally realized that Mark was actually talking about a
movie that other people knew about.

Mary (Tinker) wrote to sign up for the Hustle-tini meet and recommend that
everybody download the video of Mike doing The Hustle from last year’s MouseFest,
either through the iTunes
feed
of the Magical Moment Podcast or directly from the old Magical
Moment site
. (You can see Mike with glitter in his hair from his Main
Street haircut.)

Mike and Mark then talked a bit about Mike’s friend Sean, who is in the
foreground of the video. Mike thinks that he might still be there, so Mark
suggested that, if Sean is still there, he could help in the Hustle instruction
for the meet.

Joe in LA wrote to thank us for following up on his suggestion in Listener
Feedback on Episode 67 to add some additional short subject segments that
we can rotate in and out of the Monday show. He likes the Six Degrees idea,
but doesn’t want us to limit it to The Lion King as the end point, since
there are so many other great possibilities.

Joe didn’t like Mike’s suggestion that he come up with roundabout ways
to link films, since the purpose of Six Degrees is to find the shortest
path between the two target films. Revealing the films in advance is preferable,
though, because having Mike cast about during the segment doesn’t make for
a good segment.

Joe then offered up a challenge on how to get from the Mouseketeers to
The Monkees, and provided a path that included Annette Funicello, O.J. Simpson,
Mike Lookinland and Davy Jones.

Mark noted that we will continue to try out new segments, and Mike doesn’t
know what the new trial segment for next Monday will be yet.

Wayne Goergen wrote in response to our second new trial segment, “Three
Wishes,” where we gave our three wishes for the Disney-MGM Studios
(soon to be Disney’s Hollywood Studios). Wayne’s three wishes were:

  • Turn The Great Movie Ride into a great Disney movie
    ride.

  • Turn Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular into the
    ride from Disneyland.

  • Change Star Tours into a newer ride like the pod races
    in Star Wars Episode 1.

Shawn Coomer wrote from New Zealand (when did he leave Guatemala?) to tell
us how much he liked the recent batch of interviews and the Voices of Liberty
clip.

He disagrees with Mark’s assertion that Finding Nemo – The Musical is better
than Festival of the Lion King. He then supported Mike’s viewpoint of the
supremacy of The Lion King.

He also mentioned that he has seen some Disney knock-offs on children’s amusement
park rides, but not much. He’s wondering if he’ll see more in the Eastern
Hemisphere. Mike then brought up the Disney knock-off amusement park that
we discussed back in Episode 19.

For those who have joined us recently, you can catch up with the latest episode
of “Where in the World is Shawn Coomer?” at his Family
Round the World web site
.

Feedback and MouseFest

Please send us your comments via email
or by calling our toll-free feedback line at 1-866-939-2278. Don’t forget
that we love voicemails because then we can put your voice on the show!

We also wanted to remind you that we have now scheduled our MouseFest meet
for the podcasts. The MouseStation Hustle-tini Meet will begin at 5:30 p.m.
at Classic Concoctions in the Everything Pop food court at Disney’s Pop Century
Resort for Bluetinis to get our nerve up to get up and boogie. We’ll make
sure that we’re in the lobby before 6 p.m. so that we can do The Hustle, then
return to Classic Concoctions or elsewhere to record some more for the podcast.
For more information on the Hustle-tini or any other MousePlanet-sponsored
meet at MouseFest, check out our MouseFest
information page
. If you’ve got any ideas on what might make a cool MouseStation
T-shirt for MouseFest, let Mark know!

Don’t forget that we’re holding a contest to encourage you to donate to Broadway
Care/Equity Fights AIDS. Everyone that donates to the cause through Mike’s
donor page
will receive an entry into the random drawing for an “Anything
Can Happen” bookmark signed by Nicole Bocchi and Henry Hodges, who played
Jane and Michael Banks the night that Mike saw the show. The bookmark includes
a nickel-sized star that was part of a costume worn in the show during the
grand finale. The bookmark says “Mary Poppins, Broadway 2007.” This phase
of the fundraising campaign runs through December 4, so you’ve got until then
to donate. It doesn’t matter how much you give. Any donation
will get you entered into the contest. You can see the bookmark in question
in the show notes for Episode
93
.
