Listener Feedback Friday!

In this week’s Listener Feedback:

Mary Tesch wrote in with her Top 3 list for Disney’s Animal Kingdom:

  • Dining
    • 3. Pizzafari
    • 2. Flame Tree Barbecue
    • 1. Yak & Yeti
  • Live Entertainment
    • 3. Flights of Wonder
    • 2. Finding Nemo – The Musical
    • 1. Festival of the Lion King
  • Attractions
    • 3. Rafiki’s Planet Watch
    • 2. Kilimajaro Safaris
    • 1. Expedition Everest

Mary also noted that her family’s next trip is scheduled for November. Mark
and Mike were disappointed that it wasn’t December so that they could meet
up at MouseFest.

Big Brian called the feedback line to respond to Mike’s reference to Weird
Al Yankovic’s “Albuquerque.” (Note: in case you missed the MousePlanetWatch
news show that triggered the discussion, Albuquerque is the location of this
year’s Walt Disney Company annual shareholder’s meeting.) Mike pointed Mark
to a video on YouTube with the song. Here
it is
. Watch at your own risk. You have been warned.

Bill wrote in about our show in the de-evolution of Walt Disney World’s Downtown
Disney. Bill put forth a lengthy discussion of his opinion on what has been
happening to Pleasure Island over the years. It’s pretty close to Mark and
Mike’s opinions, but it’s really long so we’ll leave it to you to listen to
the show to hear it.

Bottom line? He thinks that they’re intentionally trying to shut down Pleasure
Island.

West Coast correspondent Andrew Rich also wrote in about Downtown Disney.
Mike had asked folks to vote as to which order they would prefer to see Disney
implement three changes at Pleasure Island. Andrew put them in the order of:

  • B) 21-plus for all clubs
  • C) bring back streetmosphere + entertainment
  • A) close the island (make it hard-ticket) with current
    age restrictions

Andrew would also love to see an Adventurer’s Club West Coast Field Office
in the Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney.

Jonathan McCrae from Scotland wrote in with a lengthy email to ask our opinion
about a variant of the Walt Disney World International Program, where he would
be taking some seminars at the University of Central Florida. More information
about the program can be found here.
Basically, rather than the standard Cultural Representative program, participants
in this program will be taking Hospitality Management courses through the
Rosen School of Hospitality at the University of Central Florida while also
working at Walt Disney World for six months.

Mark and Mike talked a bit in general about the program and things to expect,
then Mike went into a bit more depth on what Jonathan could expect, based
on Mike’s experiences in the College Program and with folks that he knew in
the International Program.

Since Jonathan’s deadline to respond was on Wednesday, Mike and Mark made
a copy of that segment of the raw show audio and got a copy to him so that
he could make an informed decision on time.

Owen wrote in to jokingly suggest that the Owner’s Locker “Design Your
Own Promotion” promotion should give away a high-end guitar. He also
corrected Mike regarding his comment from last week’s MousePlanetWatch show
where he thought that you only had 24 hours to watch a rented iTunes movie.
You’ve actually got 30 days from download to watch it, though once you do
start watching, you then only have 24 hours before it disappears.
