Today’s show is a little short, partly due to the fact that Mike is suffering
from a bad cold and needed to rest. In this week’s Listener Feedback:
MousePlanet columnist Shoshana Lewin called in to reprimand us for not knowing
that Photon was Adam’s mouse in Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. She further
demanded that Mike and Mark take a vacation and go to Epcot as soon as possible.
Mike and Mark asked if anyone was willing to pay to send them on that vacation.
Rob wrote in to also express disappointment that we didn’t know about Photon.
Steve Russo then piled it on with amazement that we didn’t get the answer.
He noted that he definitely enjoys the new format better than the old marathon
shows. Finally, he asked “What’s different about the tower clock at World
Showcase’s American Adventure?” Mike didn’t get it, but Mark knew that
the Roman numerals on the clock face used “IIII” as 4, rather than
the usual “IV.”
Jeremy write in to say that he loves the new format, and came up with a great
question. “What attractions do you put on your list to ride, but after
the trip, you realize that you never went on them?” For Jeremy, it’s the
Hall of Presidents, Mark Twain (Liberty Belle?) and the movies at Epcot. He
also used to miss the mint juleps at Disneyland, but has since rectified that
problem.
Mike’s most frequently missed attractions are Tom Sawyer’s Island and the
Fantasyland attractions. Mark usually somehow misses the Liberty Squarer attractions,
Tom Sawyer’s Island and the Circlevision movies in Epcot (though he’s going
to make sure to see the new Canada movie his next time down).
Dave Welty called the toll-free feedback line (1-866-939-2278) with great
news for Mike: the Bluetini (as well as all other specialty drinks from Walt
Disney World) is now available at the Disneyland Resort. Apparently, the food
and beverage manager from Walt Disney World is now in charge of food and beverage
at Disneyland, as well.
Suzan wrote in that a designated smoking area at the Animal Kingdom Lodge
is located in such a way as to be unavoidable for people going from outside
into the entrance to Jiko and Boma. Mike noted that there aren’t really a
lot of good places at the Lodge to put smokers.
Pete Altemese wrote to thank Mark for pronouncing his name correctly..
Hayley B. from Delaware called the voicemail to let us know that she loves
the show. She finds it to be professionally done and she has enjoyed our helpful
information and opinions, as well as the trivia. And that set us to blushing
again.
Listener Mark wrote to ask whether press passes exist for any Disney parks.
While Disney does provide admission during press events, co-host Mark isn’t
certain that they provide admission in other situations. He recommended that
listener Mark contact his Disney public relations representative and ask them
about park admission.
Christine write in to ask if we have any idea when the new rates or rate
structure will be released, as she’s getting concerned that she can’t finish
making her plans for February through April of 2008 without getting the rates.
The rates haven’t been released yet, but Mark thinks that they should be done
fiddling with the packages and seasonal occupancy numbers in the next month
or two. In the meantime, Christine could make a placeholder reservation and
the rates will be applied to the reservation as soon as they’re released.
Mike suggested that Christine should make a placeholder reservation now if
there’s a certain resort and dates that she really wants, and that the rates
should be out soon. Based on his experience, he expects rates to go up between
4 and 6 percent.
