In this week’s Listener Feedback:
Alexis Bratengeier wrote in to say that he and his wife will attempt to make it to the mousse and Illuminations meet next Saturday night, coming back from a day in Daytona that day. Mark noted that he’ll try to set up another meet on Friday for those who won’t be able to make the Saturday night meet. If so, it’ll be posted on this thread on our MousePad discussion forums.
Greg Jones wrote in to suggest a “You are there” trip update segment each show, recorded live in the parks including park sounds, background music, etc. We’ve got a couple of issues with this. First of all, we have to watch the use of Disney intellectual property (background music). Since MousePlanet is actually credentialed media with Disney, we have a lot to lose if we were to run into trouble on that issue. Secondly, we have a lot of things that we do, but there are other podcasts that do in-park audio really well, most notably Window to the Magic. If you’re interested in that kind of content, we highly recommend going over to Paul Barrie’s site and giving it a listen.
Bill Aiken wrote to thank us for the response on wheelchair access to the Haunted Mansion last week and to tell us how well our show length and frequency work with his exercise regimen.
Bill and his family are driving down to Walt Disney World from Syracuse, NY next Friday, and he’ll update us on what it’s like with really little ones in the parks. Mark told him that, if the little ones can handle late nights and loud sounds, they should join him at the podcast meet next Saturday night.
Big Brian called in to remind us about the annual RADP mini-golf meet. We’ll see how the MouseFest schedule works out to see if we try to get there this year.
Brian (a different Brian) wrote to ask about transportation for traveling to Universal . Mike suggested a Mears shuttle, while Mark offered the possibility of a one-day car rental.
Brian and his family will be in Orlando for the first time during MouseFest, and will try to get to at least one meet.
Elizabeth from Iliinois called in to let us know that she had a chance to try tohe new Spaceship Earth recently and was very disapponted. She wanted to know what we think of it.
Mark doesn’t like the descent, and he thought that the dumbed-down narration was disappointing. Mike pretty much concurred.
Roger Colton wrote in to comment on our discussion on Monday’s show about the possibility of Disney contracting with Trader Vic’s to open a location in the old Tangaroa Terrace. While he feels that Disney could use a location like that, he wondered if Trader Vic’s really would benefit from doing something like that. Mark noted that Wolfgang Puck opened restaurants at Walt Disney World, so Trader Vic’s wouldn’t be alone.
John from St. Paul, Minnesota called in to make sure that Mike knew about the Chick-Fil-A located at the University of Minnesota campus, since Mike noted that he missed having Chick-Fil-A back at home. Mike actually knew about that location, but doesn’t consider it a real Chick-Fil-A location due to the operation of the place. Mike was looking forward to the opening of the first Sonic in the area.
Jeff Peterson from Ramona, California wrote in with the missing audio from the Ask the Kid segment of show 176 where there was an audio glitch. Mike and Mark reenacted it, then had a good laugh. Mark noted that it was very close to reality, except that he wasn’t too embarassed about that topic.
Dan the Light Man called in a review of 1900 Park Fare. He and Nancy said that they were going to discuss both that restaurant and Chef Mickey’s, but they ran out of time on the voicemail and never called back with the Chef Mickey’s review. He gave 1900 Park Fare 3 out of 5 planets.
