Listener Feedback Friday!
In this week’s Listener Feedback:
Justin called in a voicemail with a review of Toy Story Mania. He was extremely excited by the attraction. He gave it 10 out of 10. Mark talked about his thoughts on the attraction following his interview with Imagineer Kevin Rafferty on Wednesday’s show.
Shawn Coomer wrote it to update us on the status of his travels, letting us know that he should be able to talk to us about Hong Kong Disneyland late next month. He also passed along some photos of Disney characters making surprise appearances in Vietnamese parks.
Shawn’s son poses with a “Mickey” at Dam Sen Park, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Multiple Donalds decorate this kiddie ride at Dam Sen Park, in Ho Chi Minh City.
A badly worn and miscolored Pluto sits patiently at Dam Sen Park, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mufasa and family decorate Hanoi Moon Park, in Hanoi.
Shenzi, Banzai and Ed eat pink “bones” at Hanoi Moon Park, in Hanoi.
Our “Lion King” heroes chat at Hanoi Moon Park, in Hanoi.
Mark then dated himself by throwing in a reference to “Elvis is Everywhere” by Mojo Nixon.
Jonathan McCrae wrote in to thank us for our advice on the Walt Disney World International Program. While he ended up not opting to go for the last opportunity, he got another chance and is taking it. He wants some information on what to expect. It sounds like a standard Disney interview similar to the College Program interviews. Mike gave Jonathan some advice on what to expect.
Mary Tesch congratulated Mike on his engagement, and wondered if Nora would be joining us on the podcast.
Mary wanted to let us know how her children would have answered the “Ask the Kid” question from Monday. Her 8-year-old son would’ve gone to Epcot and ridden Test Track and Spaceship Earth. Her 12-year-old daughter also opted for Spaceship Earth, but instead of riding it, she wanted to be able to go in, walk around and take photos inside the attraction as if she were one of the characters.
Mary also wanted to let us know that her favorite attraction music of all time is the original “One Litle Spark” from Journey Into Imagination (v 1.0).
Julie from the UK wrote in to say that she’ll be making her first visit to Disneyland Paris in September, and will write in with more information after she comes back. She also notd that she’s planning to come to MouseFest this year, and wanted to know which parks were the best to attend over the weekend.
Berdo wrote to congratulate Mike and to ask a couple of questions. He was wondering what ever happened to our Featured Attraction and User Review System Spotlight short subjecs (we’ve been busy giving other segments a shot, but not to worry – they’ll make a reappearance soon). He also noted that he has been having problems downloading the podcast using the standard feed through the Juice podcatcher software (Mark doesn’t have a clue, but asked if anyone else was having a similar problem and asked Berdo to provide the errors from Juice).
Big Brian called in to give his congratulations to Mike and Nora. He also wanted to give his thanks to Sean Jones for drawing the comic strip of the proposal. Mark noted that the “acceptance of the proposal” strip is also great, and we hope to have the audio on the next Monday show, which is on June 2.
Julie from the UK wrote in to congratulate Mike and to ask about how much of a Disney fan Nora is. Mike noted that Nora thought that she was a big Disney fan, but then she found out that she’s actually toward the low end of the scale.
Pete Altemese called in to congratulate Mike and Nora, and to note that Chick-Fil-A rules.
Jay Thompson wrote in with his congratulations, a much shorter note than his “novel” from last week.
Liana called to offer her congratulations, and to note that she is looking forward to more segments on planning a Disney Fariytale Wedding. Mark noted that he shipped a pair of Mickey and Minnie bride and groom ears, so we’ll see how they use them.
Main Street barber Michal Marach made a very special appearance to congratulate Mike, and to wish him and Nora a long and fruitful life together.
Mark and Mike then talked a little about Mark’s visit to Walt Disney World and about how he met Michal.
