Listener Feedback Friday!
In this week’s Listener Feedback:
Liana called in to note that she was surprised at Mike being bothered by Adriana Lopez’s performance in the interview in show 196. However, Disney apparently agreed with Mike as they asked us to kill that show and replace it with a different interview that would bettr present Star Wars Weekends. And so, we removed Episode 196 and replaced it with Episode 196a, where Mark interviewed Charles Stovall on Star Wars Weekends.
Craig wrote in to say that he was “disgusted” by by the selection of celebrities at these events ( he can meet them with shorter lines at other convention events) and the focus on mechandise. Mark noted that most people who go to Star Wars Weekends don’t go to science fiction conventions and are very happy with who they get at the event. He also noted that there are a lot of people who collect all sorts of stuff, and Disney is accommodating to them while still mostly trying to keep them from interfering with the other park guests.
Kevin Graham wrote to ask about the official poster for Star Wars Weekened this year, and to ask how he can create a poster for the event, as he’s an Offiical LucasFilm Artist.
Mark noted that the poster was released at leave a couple of weeks ago, and that Kevins best bet would be to go through his LucasFilm handliers.
Scott Collins wrote in to say that he and his family are not attending Star Wars Weeends this year after going the last two years because there has been a cutback in adult-oriented activities and they don’t appreciate the lines to go and see the celebrities to get autographs. They still .enjoyed te talk show events.
Dave in San Francisco wrote in to say that this year will be his first Star Wars Weekends and ask for tips on how to approach his first event.
We recommended that he start with this past Tuesday’s Episode 196a, check out the Star Wars Weekends mini-site and added soem suggestions.
Patrick Toohill wrote in to congratulate Mike on his upcoming wedding and to speculate on what the weddng might be like. With Pat’s sense of humor, we wonder if we’re going to see a throwdown between hm and Jeff Peterson.
Sharla from Athens, GA wrote in to say that she enjoyed meeting Mark and the other listeners at the mousse and Illuminations meet last month, and to offer her services for Mike’s wedding, as she’s an ordained minister.
Bill Aiken wrote in to say that he and his family were delayed and missed the mousse and Illumnations meet because of illness. He talked about the medical services and support that he received while staying at the All Star Movies Resort when his daughter got very ill. Reedy Creek Emergency Services transported them to the hospital and the resort paid for a cab to bring them back to the hotel once they were done. Thankfully, his daughter recovered before it was time to return home, and they had a wonderful time once she was feeling better and they made it to the character breakfast at the Crystal Palace and then went to the princess meet-and-greet in Toontown.
