We have cut the podcast into multiple, smaller shows starting with this show
in order to make it accessible to those who may not be able to listen to 90-minute
or so shows. We’ve broken MouseStation into three 30-minute shows. (Times
are approximate, of course, as we have no idea how long we’re going to ramble
on any given topic.) Our new schedule features our collection of short subjects
on Monday, the full-length feature on Wednesday, MousePlanetWatch on Thursday
and listener feedback on Friday. We’d like your feedback on what you think
of the new schedule. Let us know what you
think!

In this week’s Listener Feedback:
Deborah Kwan wrote in to ask that we add timestamps (chapter stops) to the show. The difficulty is that this function is only available with .AAC-format files, which only work with the iTunes player or on an iPod. This would require us to produce two versions of the show, as we would have to create a new .AAC feed in addition to the existing .MP3 feed so that we wouldn’t cut off anybody that uses a non-Apple method of listening to the show.
Deborah also contributed a tip of the week (which we’re holding for a future show). She also asked that we provide more cast member information about attractions. We’ve actually got a potential new short subject that is in the works that, once we have a couple of samples, may get added to the Monday show in a trial basis.
Steve Russo is back from vacation and was impressed that last week’s questions
did not “Stump the Hosts”; however the hosts did stump Steve when asking about
the preferred tea for Himalayan Tours and Expeditions. Steve claimed that
it was because he’d only ridden Expedition Everest once, and didn’t spend
a lot of time in the queue that time.

Steve’s new question for this week did indeed Stump the Hosts, though. Mark may have to add something to the prize bag when he meets Steve.
We got an audio message from Jesse Nugent from Melbourne, Australia. (Note: For those who are overseas and unable to call our toll-free feedback line, or for those who want to practice and edit their voice messages, you can do what Jesse did and create a .wav or .mp3 file to send to us. (Note that our MousePlanet mailboxes have a maximum size of 5 MB. If your file is larger than that, send us an email and we’ll give you an alternate address to send it to.
In any case, Jesse was a little concerned about us breaking up the show, but is now looking forward to it.
He’s been planning a trip to Disneyland at the end of the year, but is now also planning a family trip to Walt Disney World in January, flying 30 hours each way. He was looking for advice on what to do on their non-Disney days, since they’ll be spending 10 days at Walt Disney World and another few days doing other things.
Mike gave some great suggestions. Mark agreed in principle, but also noted
that suggestions could be better targeted if we knew what Jesse and his family
preferred. Just as Disney recommendations very by family and preference, the
same rule goes for off-property entertainment and attractions.
Stanton Wong wrote in on a few subjects.
He noted that he has come to think of us as old friends after listening to us, and asked if we could post a photo of ourselves and of Mark’s son. Mark noted that a Mark-and-Mike photo is now located on the master Podcast Show Notes column page; however, as part of his agreement with his wife on putting his son on the podcast, his son’s name and image will not be used in conjunction with the show.
Stanton corrected Mark & Mike that the structure in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is called the Observatron, not Orbitron. Mark had checked Ultimate Ride: Disney Coaster before the show, and it was Observatron there, too. Chalk that one up to faulty memory. Stanton also gave the “official” purpose served by the structure. He also noted that, while there is a poppy fountain there, Anaheim’s Downtown Disney is actually themed on the Bird of Paradise flower.
Stanton provided two Tips of the Week, which will be put into the queue for use on future shows. He also suggested some possible topics for future shows, which we will place into consideration.
Echoing Deborah Kwan’s email, Stanton asked that we provide more behind-the-scenes information during the Featured Attraction segment. We’ll do what we can to accommodate that.
