Review System Spotlight
This week we look at Petals Pool Bar at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, as they were the official provider of the Blue Glowtini for the Hustletini Meet. They were able to create almost 30 drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in less than 5 minutes, as we had warned them in advance and they had done much of the preparation in advance, including coming up with a non-alcoholic recipe to approximate the alcoholic version.
Some first-timers gave their reaction to both versions of the drink, and we got a review of Petals from someone who had been served there on an earlier trip.

This week we look at Toy Story Midway Mania, specifically at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The ride lived up to Big Brian’s expectations. He got to ride it for the first time with Mike. One listener was surprised by how long the ride actually is. John Corigliano got to ride it with a friend who knew about a lot of the “Easter eggs,” which made it even more fun. Another listener got to ride it many times the night before at a special MouseFest event, and her arm was really hurting.
Mark asked who had the highest score out of those in attendance. John Corigliano was the winner with 245,000. (Mark had 180,100.)

Magical Moment
Mike’s favorite Magical Moment is The Hustle, so we asked folks about their experience with the dance. There was surprise at how uncoordinated people felt when they did the dance, but everybody had fun.

Listener Feedback
In addition to it being the fifth anniversary of Disney’s Pop Century Resort, we were also celebrating the second anniversary of the announcement of the MouseStation Podcast.
Chad and Frankie thanked us for our well-wishes last year when they were at Walt Disney World while there were wildfires near their home back in California.
Mark and Mike talked a little about recording the show. Mark mentioned recording in the middle of the night and falling asleep in the middle of a sentence earlier that week.
Mary asked about the history of the names MousePlanet and MouseStation. Mark gave a little history of the creation of MousePlanet (which predates his involvement in the site), and then talked about how we came up with the name MouseStation for the podcast.
Tracey talked about how she was walking her dog when she first called in and how we thought that she was nervous about calling in because she was so out of breath. Mark had to explain that there is no commutative property of exercise and that we can’t lose weight just because our listeners listen to us while they’re exercising.
John told a story of how he met Mark at the Hub during the International Press Event in 2007 and got to listen to the audio from an interview that Mark had done earlier in the day. He described his reaction to hearing the interview with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto.
We were asked whether we did a little trivia game at one of the tables during PodFest 2006 with the Magical Moment Podcast. Mark responded that we hadn’t done any trivia at the first PodFest, but we were waiting and hoping to announce the deal to move over to MousePlanet at the time.
Another listener asked about Mark’s son and the Ask the Kid segment. He noted that he loves the different perspective that Mark’s son brings to the show, and how refreshing it is. Mark notes that it’s becoming more and more fun to record the segment with The Kid, and that The Kid enjoys hearing the feedback we get on the segment.
Our last question was what Disney means to us. Mike is motivated by the Pop Century Resort. His experience at the resort, and getting to change so many peoples’ lives by creating magic at the resort, is what drives his love of Disney. It means so much to him because it means to much to so many people.
Mark’s enjoyment of Disney goes back a while, though it didn’t become a passion until his college years and later. He was always impressed by Disney’s commitment to getting it right and doing things the right way. He later got involved in the Disney Internet communities, and was then invited to write a column for MousePlanet, then was talked into taking over the Walt Disney World Update. He’s now been writing for MousePlanet for almost six years. Mike invited him to join him in launching the Magical Moment Podcast in mid-2006. Then Mark went through the history of the MouseStation.
