Today’s show is sponsored by Advantage Vacation Homes, a great vacation home rental company that gives you a place to stay with lots more space than a regular hotel room for a lot less money.
Remember, if you’re planning a trip with a large number of people, a multiple-bedroom vacation home can be a lot cheaper than multiple hotel rooms.

Feature: Magical Moments in the Real World
Mike had an idea about creating Magical Moments in the real world, not just at Walt Disney World, and not only as a cast member.
Mike bought about 20 small gift cards and wrote 20 thank you notes for people in the service industry and handed them out during his trip to Walt Disney World. He had an amazing response from the people that he gave them to. He pointed out that we can have a lot of impact on people’s days by creating Magical Moments (which is pretty much like Random Acts of Kindness).
Mike suggested that both of us do three Magical Moments during the course of MouseFest. Mark suggested that we integrate it into our planned mini-episodes that we do during MouseFest, in that we include our attempts at creating Magical Moments in each mini-episode.
Mark ran us through today’s MouseFest schedule and set the stage for the rest of the event. Meanwhile, you can follow us throughout MouseFest on Facebook and Twitter. (Mark’s Twitter feed | Mike’s Twitter Feed, Mark’s Facebook page | Mike’s Facebook page)
Listener Feedback
Sean Jones asked if we knew the connection between A Christmas Story and Walt Disney World’s Carousel of Progress? (Mark knew, but Mike didn’t.) Jean Shepard wrote and narrates A Christmas Story and is also the current voice of the father in Carousel of Progress. (Rex Allen, the original voice of the father, now voices the grandfather.).
Sean actually knew about Jean Shepard before A Christmas Story. His father went to college in New York and used to listen to Jean Shepard’s radio show at night, where he would tell stories of his family. In the early ’80s, PBS created several shows of Shepard’s stories (including a great one about the 4th of July) that Sean’s father demanded his family watch with him. They were very similar to A Christmas Story with Shepard narrating them.
Sean also noted that his favorite Disney Christmas film is Babes in Toyland with Annette Funicello
John Papas wrote in with two questions:
A recent episode where the kid was asked about where would he would put another Disney park inspired a question about whether we think they will ever try to do another “Disney’s America” like they tried in Virginia? Mark doesn’t see it happening, as it’s not really financially feasible to develop in another place in the United States. He expects future development, if any, to be in the underserved regions of the globe.
John also wanted to know: Does WDW allow fast-food deliveries to their hotels as they did in Disneyland? Mike said that deliveries are allowed, but that the delivery must be made at the main hotel building. This can mean a fairly long walk at a larger resort, pretty much killing much of the benefit of having it delivered.
Amanda wrote in to let us know that, after lots of time searching the Internet, she has found the website for the company that makes real Dole Whip mix. Go to their site, scroll down and not only can you order the traditional Tiki Room pineapple but lots of others! Amanda highly recommends mango and raspberry.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
Mike is again joining Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Gypsy of the Year online fundraising campaign. This year, he has aligned himself with The Lion King Gazelle Tour team. For more information or to donate, go to his fundraising page. Note that Mark has said that he wants to change his Facebook avatar to a red ribbon for World AIDS Day as many have urged him, but he’ll only do it if Mike hits his $500 goal. Mike upped the ante and said that, if contributions hit $700, he’ll change his Facebook avatar to Nemo for an entire month! Ray Mercer has offered to provide a backstage tour at The Lion King on Broadway to any MouseStation listener who donates to the cause. Please donate now!
