Walt Disney World News

  • As we reported last week, Walt Disney World is testing a Nintendo
    DS-based interactive park guide
    called Disney Magic Connection. MouseStation
listener Mary Tesch and her family got to try out the device, and their
experiences (which we read on the show) can also be seen in the Park Update.
According to a story at JimHillMedia.com
on Monday, this month’s testing is done and the next round of testing may
    occur in March.
  • The next set of Annie Leibovitz photos of celebrities posing as Disney
characters has been released, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony
as Jasmine and Aladdin, with Whoopi Goldberg as the Genie; Jennifer Biel
as Pocahontas; and Gisele Bundchen, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Tina Fey as
Wendy Darling, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell. You can see the photos in the
    Park Update, and you can

  • Changing over all of the signage referring to the Disney-MGM Studios
has been taking a bit of time. We ran photos from Steve Russo in the Park
    Update

was published, we had plenty of reference to the Disney-MGM Studios and
barely an to Disney’s Hollywood Studios throughout the park guide.

  • This week’s construction
    update
includes more elevator work at Grand Floridian building 8 and
tile work in the main building; pool work at the Port Orleans French Quarter

Handy Manny and Little Einsteins, among others.
    • The Animal Kingdom Villas construction work at Jambo House (the main
Animal Kingdom Lodge building) was finished earlier this week. Work
will continue on the Kidani Village annex. [See our Jambo
      House villa photo tour

remain for the MouseAdventure 101 event, targeted at first-timers.
  • Other stuff:
    • There have been several late changes to the refurbishment schedule,
      so check it out before
      heading to the park.
    • The display cases and graphic panels for the “Behind the Magic: 50
Years of Disneyland” exhibit were damaged in transit to Kansas City
for a showing at Union Station. None of the artifacts was damaged. See
